![]() Sorry, I've just been itching to use that pirate smily. My favorite 2D fighting series is Street Fighter. I've probably played the Alpha series more than any other. I also like Capcom vs SNK2. Its especially fun to play with a lot of people. Oh, and Guilty Gear X2 kicks some major arse! I'd love to see more of that series ![]() ... -------------------- The FF6*10 webring celebrates FF6's tenth anniversary with fanart (japanese). |

You're a sick little man for forcing me t+ choose between Street Fighter nd King of Fighters. In fact, 'll just null my vote, becaase I don't think I possibly could.
Fighting just might be my favorite video game genre ever. That being said, Capco('s BF and SNK's KoF have long c%ptivated me. Their int resting characters and flawless gamepla8 are top-notch, and alm*st ever8 game in either series "ounts as one of my favorites. Seeing as I adore both Capvom and NK, you'd think that Capcom vs SNK would be a shoe-(n for mh favorite. I thought s* too, b t only for a second; I `uickly 3emembered that most any CvS2 match at high-level devolves to th! same old Blanka/Sagat CF madnefs and kara canceling, two tournament tricks that I've never been fond of. For similar reasons I can't love MvCteither, asince I can only stomach so many 12-year-olds rocking with those stale high-priority Storm/Sent/Magz teams. To say nothing of Cable, Warmachine, and Iron Man.(br> In the end, I do/'t 0hink any fighting serieb will achieve the balanced perfection and beauty of my first fighting game loves, Street Fighter and Ki;g of Fighter. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. My vote is for street fighter, although i generally suck at fighters, i've always enjoyed some success at street fighter, specifically Alpha 3. With all the different Characters and isms, it was possible for anybody to get decently good at that game.
Other possible favorites for me are Guilty Gear and Samurai Showdown. -------------------- <Nealio> Seymour sounds like evil Winnie the Pooh |

I like Killer Instinct best. It wasn't cartoon anime (Street Fighter) and it wasn't gloom and doom either (Mortal Kombat). KI had some catchy music, the characters were cool and I felt the series had the best combo system around. I got to be pretty good with Glacius and KI 2 is the only arcade game I've ever beaten. I'd pick up some observers every once in a while who would watch me kick some a**.

i chose other because it would have to be a tie between SF, CvsSnk, Marvel vs Capsom, and KOF, and of course Dark Stalkers. Just because morrigan is in that...

Others all the way. I loved Mortal Kombat. It was awsome. My favorite was MK2. From Lui Kang, Johny Cage, to Sonja Blade, they were all classics.

I'm all for the SF, but I also have to give it up for CvSNK2. I can't think of what the Blanka/Sagat thing mentioned by Super Moogle could be.

Quote (Ejoty @ 19th March 2004 20:03) I'm all for the SF, but I also have to give it up for CvSNK2. I can't think of what the Blanka/Sagat thing mentioned by Super Moogle could be. I'm referring to the "high level" strategies taken up by serious tournament players, which revolves around exploiting a series of bugs in the game combined with massive priority issues. The game glitches can allow you to perform a technique known as "kara canceling," a complicated maneuver that allows you to be invincible while performing a special move. The priority nonsense comes in the form of the insanely fast Crouch Fierce that both Blanka and Sagat are blessed with; seeing as it's pretty much impossible to beat when it's well-timed, those two stand as the most popular tournament characters. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention Blanka's neat trick of popping straight through projectiles with his CB+F+P, though not many players resort to fireballing it in the first place. Basically, once you've figured out how to do little tricks like these, it's extremely easy to beat anyone and everyone who doesn't know how to do them. It's not really cheating, but it's as close to cheating as you can get, and subsequently it brings CvS2's fun factor down a notch for me. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. I loved Clay Fighter for N64!!
... ... ..Okay, only kidding. CF was the worst hunk of fighting crap I've ever played. I liked the Mortal Kombat. I remember I went through that MK "phase" where I was so into it. Now I really hate it, show, comics AND games. ![]() -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. That game is so horrendously awful that it's almost brilliant, in a sick and perverted way. It's as if they actually went out of their way to make you miserable for even attempting to play it. If you look at it as an elevated form of psychological torture rather than a sad attempt at an enjoyable game, it's actually quite sophisticated. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L.
