I equipped a character with the Imp Halbard, the Tortoise Shield, the Titanium, and the Imp's Armor. I also turned him into an Imp with the Imp spell. After using him in battle, I did observe that he seems to be rather resistant to magic and physical damage, and the halbard does so-so damage. Is there some other bonus to having a fully equipped "imped" character like this? Maybe I was hoping for something more dramatic after the effort of collecting all the Imp equipment, but heck...the imp can't even use magic...what's so great about a decked out imp? biggrin.gif

Getting the decked out Imp is mostly about the High Defense and Magic Defense.

There are only a handful of ways to get the coveted 255 Defense. The Imp armor set is one way. The total bonuses of the equipment give you:
+208 Defense
+30% Evade (useless due to bug)
+208 Magic Defense
+30% Magic Block

About half of the characters have natural Defense scores of 47 or more. So they will hit the magic number 255.
The total damage equation is
Total Damage = (Base Damage * (255 - Defense) / 256) + 1
So as you can see, as Defense approaches 255, Total Damage approaches 1. It is irrelevant if monsters hit you are not, the max damage they can do is 1. The exception to this is for attacks which ignore defense. You always have to watch out for those.

You said you were doing so-so damage with the Imp Halberd. Well, weapon damage is determined by weapon Battle Power, your Level and Vigor. The Imp Halberd has 253 BP, which is the second highest BP in the game. So that is not your problem. I suspect that your Vigor is low. You need to pump up your Vigor and then you should be doing 9999 each hit. Then you can stack the Offering/Hero Ring or Offering/Black Belt on there and really start dishing the damage. The Imp character is not flashy. Its just something different. Very powerful but in a dull sort of way.

give mog gengi armour and the snow muffler, and the relics- zephyr cape and white cape, and take him into battle and see how remarkable he is...the M.Block% is the most important factor in defense...raise it to levels of 120-128 or more, and ur characters will be nearly invincable. aside from major attacks, like ultima, meteor, and 1000 needles

Okay, but the topic here is about pumping up Imps. Stick to it.
