Well, I really only have one at the moment, but I hope to make more soon. I know that FFVI avs pretty definitely wouldn't be added, so I made a CT one. It's Bekkler. biggrin.gif

Hope you like it, and that it may become selectable.

I think some of them re too big, especially this Black Tyrano fella. DC8's avatar is a good example of what happens when an avatar is too big. Bahamut is 130 pixels tall, so there's a bunch of empty space under DC8's signature when he makes very short posts. Plus excessively large avatars are just plain obnoxious, especially if the resolution isn't that good. In my opinion none of those avatars should be bigger than 96x96.

The outlining on the Red and Blue Beasts look messy. There are pixels sticking out in odd places and there are dark pixels on the edges. It looks like you took a screenshot with the monster in a dark background, so those dark pixels need to be eliminated or they stick out too much on a white background. You want to preserve the colors of the monster but eliminate the pixels that are clearly of the background. If it's possible for you to screenshot those monsters in a whitish background that would be better. Or if there are any CT ROM editors out there you may be able to get screenshots of monsters with a constant color background. See if any of the CT editors on this page actually show the monsters so you can take potentially better screenshots. Or maybe someone has already done this job for you on a CT webpage with a bunch of monster images. Who knows.

It's a little better at least eh? You're not gonna get much better taking screenshots off of backgrounds with many colors. It's a pain in the butt.

CT avatars should always retain their black outline. It's part of the sprite. You can see it on all our existing ones. But yes, some of them are indeed the wrong side of a sensible size maximum.

The difference is, though, it's done correctly. Did you printscreen these? You need to use the emulator's screenshot function to create an exact 1:1 SNES pixel screen if you're going to cut sprites out. These all have bilinear filtering on them, which is why the edges look so odd, especially on a dark background. Even with no filtering enabled, it's still difficult to get a correct 1:1 printscreen.

No shame in it, since just about everyone we've asked to get screenshots/sprites in the past has done this the first time around. smile.gif
But we can't really use them like that.

Besides which — and this is the kicker — I already have these little guys in the right format anyway (visitors to the long defunct Tiddles the Cat's Bulletin Board may remember them from such places as... erm... there), and whoever was doing the avatars at whatever was the relevant point in history (I think it would have been R51 in the CoN4 era) decided to leave them out. I've added a few back since then, but really only vital plot-o-guys.

Good work, but like Tiddles said, the edges do look a bit odd.

And, to Tiddles, about vital plot guys.... You have Flea, my favorite baddie, but what about my second favorite: Dalton? He was pretty vital to the plot, as he gave the epoch its wings, plus the CT crew had to deal with him many times before his failed Golem summon, heh. I know you probably won't add him in, but I figured it was worth a shot. tongue.gif

You already PMed me about that, and I already told you that if we did an update that included CT avatars, it would go in.
