In the course of my most recent time through FF6, I noticed that there was a certain flashback missing. Almost every time prior, I get the flashback where it shows Locke and Rachel exploring the cave and then she has her accident. This last time, even though I did things pretty much the same (until the end), I didn't see that flashback. I didn't realize it until after I'd already acquired Locke again, and he made his failed attempt at reviving her. Too bad, because that scene kind of contributes to the game, and it's strange not seeing it, even if you've already seen it playing through in times before. What triggers that particular flashback? huh.gif

After you split into 3 scenarios at the beggining and you choose a team to look for Terra. I think you need Locke and Celes in your party. It's the town where Rachel's body lies, I forget the name too. (You may not actually need Celes, I just always have her there cause I feel she should hear Locke's story.) Just remembered, I think the town's name is Murond.

Edit
Wow! I was way off!

Yea the first time I played through I left out Locke and didnt get the cinimatic so i am 100% sure you need him...as for Celes if you do bring her she has a nice bit of dialouge so i assume she is neccissary as well

It must be a requirement that you go there during that scenario then...and I do think Celes is a requirement, since she's sort of Locke's "romantic interest"...if you go later in the game, no matter who it's with, the old guy just talks to Locke, and you see a flashback of him talking about the herbs preserving her, and Locke says something about what if there were a way to bring her back. It really is a rip that they make it so hard to see the flashbacks of Rachel...two times I played the game through initially and never see "the accident". For most of the first game, I was like, "Who's that broad, and why's Locke whining about her?" Sure, it's nice to have secret cut scenes that can only be triggered at certain times with certain people, but that's kind of an important one, and it's a shame to be able to miss it. thumbdown.gif

At that same time...You need Sabin and Edgar in your party for a cinematic at Figaro castle. It pretty much dictates the four people going with me to ZoZo.

Yeah...those are a couple of my favorites. Luckily, I have the good fortune of usually having the brothers Figaro in my party almost all the time early in the game, so I've never missed them. Locke is another story...any time I'm forced to use him at the early stages of the game, I keep fighting and exploring to a minimum. Even when he teams up with Celes, navigating the overworld map is a chore if you rely on your physical attacks, which I almost always try to. No offense to Locke's scenario, but his is one of my least favorites...Bannon's scenario isn't really a blast either, but it's not quite a tedious as Locke's. I try to finish up with Locke/Celes as quickly as possible so I can get back to using my favorite characters again. smile.gif

Locke is an absoulute(sp?) must for the flashbacks, i'm not sure about celes, i don't think i've ever had her in my party at that time before... but what triggers the scene is you have to have your party (with Locke in it) go into rachel's house

Dang! That explains it...I never did go into her house, just the old coot who spends his day mixing curious herbs' house...it was so simple I was making it too difficult.
