Hey, I'm wondering how you guys delt with the 16 party memebers limit. It's kind of restricting if you want to use all of the secret characters and such. I'm planning my party know, and I was just wondering if you had any good ideas, or if you could tell me what your party was. Thanks.

I chose all of the "special" characters except Boco. My four mercenaries' jobs were based on the best stuff.

Man, how could get rid of Boco sad.gif . His reply on leaving made me so sad that I cried and decided to not get rid of him.

I kept all of my heros, including Boco thumbup.gif , and got rid of the regular recruits. That a way I could make room for monsters and such. If you ever need another regular recuit, you could just go to the Soldiers Office. Regular recruits are easy to get back.

Basically, I have Ramza, Rafa, a Knight, a Wizard, Rad, Cloud, a Samuai, Boco, Mustadio, Agrias, Byblos, Cid, Beowulf, Reis, WOrker 8, and Meliadoul.

I dumped Malak, because he's the only character that I find totally useless in the entire game, and Alicia and Lavian, because I had to make room for Cloud/Reis.

I found that the 16 characters limit is just perfect. This way you can have Ramza, 4 random fighters that you can choose (I always choose people from the Soldier Office, because I can name them the way I want), and then just the exact room for every special characters.

Hmm... good ideas, but like, any ideas on what monsters and stuff are worth it. For example, is it really that handy to have a red and black chocobo?

normally i have one generic person as a summoner
then for the rest i usually use main characters with these secondary abilities: item, white magic, punch art, and time magic.

Personally, I dont use monsters in story battles.

Tis simple... NINJAS! What you need is some ninja for the main course, some ninjas on the sides, and a bit of orlandu for dessert. that will be $40.00 will that be for here or to go? blink.gif

12. Rafa
13. Beowulf
14. Mustadio
15. Malak
16. Orlandu

Malak took me a while to level up. I keep him with a Whale Whisker, Two Hands, Faith at 03 and Hamedo. He also has draw out. Every male has Move + 3, and every female has Move +2. Beowulf has Move MP Up I think. Rafa is the best mage in my party, even with the Heaven Knight class. I always switch Rad, Lavian, and Alicia's jobs, depending on the battles. When I got them in Chapter 2, I stopped using other characters, and when I got Rafa and Malak, I switched them with Rad, Lavian, Alicia, and Boco most of the time.

i didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the special characters, i just dumped them off if the were getting less usefull in battle. Other then that, i always keep a white mage and a black mage (at at least someone with those subskills) a summoner and a ninja, gotta have ninjas.

I found that before I got the secret characters (which make the game waaaaay too easy, especially Orlandu), I was fine with just 5 characters:

Ramza - I used him as a Monk with Geomancer skills
A Healer - Combonation of chemist, white mage, and time mage
A Mage - Summoner/Wizard mix - kicks serious ass if used right
A Fighter - Knight/Lancer/Ninja/Samurai - A powerhouse character
A Chocobo - I prefer red, simply for Choco Meteor

Once I got Agrias, she took my fighter's place, and the chocobo was next to go. I still keep my Healer and Mage around, mainly because I spent too much time leveling them up to not use them anymore. I never used the other 11 slots until the secret chars, so I used them to breed a more powerful red chocobo.

The entire game offers you atleast 16 characters. This is including boco, rad, lavian and Alicia. If you are sentimental like that then you can take them but I invited rad, lavian and alicia, looted them and booted them. I know I shouldn't have but I feel no attachment to them. My party consists of all the special characters Ramza, Cloud, Orlandu, Rafa, Malak, Mustadio, Agrias, Meliadoul, Reis, Beowulf, Worker8 and Byblos.along with three regular characters. A good strategy to build up new characters is to kill your old ones and have your new ones take their crystals learning many of the old characters techniques! And I believe Malak does have use. Give him short charge un-truth and black magic and just boost is magic points with items and he's a good mage. What ppl don't know is that rafa and malak have the potential to executing the most powerful attacks on the team! Using un-truth with short charge on a enemies with low faith can be devestating and can attack as many as 1-5 five times. But ppl don't like him cause of the accuracy:( but if you know how to use it well then he'll be your best friend smile.gif And Reis has high hp so she doesn't need armor. Just give her a ribbon and a chantage you steal from Meliadoul and she's awesome. And never underestimate the power of Teleport. It may not work sometimes but that's because people try to get greety and go to far. But bein able to escape enemies and reach high places is priceless. thumbup.gif

When I play, I always use pretty much the same crew...it's as follows...

1. Ramza (of course)
2. Ninja
3. Summoner (master, w/math skill and all mage jobs mastered)
4. Samurai
5. Lancer
6. Mediator (master Chemist)
7. Dancer (just for fun)
8. Orlandu
9. Beowulf
10. Cloud
11. Worker 8
12. Tiamat

The special characters mentioned I usually just keep because they are cool, but they don't get much use. The tiamat is just because tiamats kick butt, and it's fun to use them sometimes. I rotate a couple of the characters in random battles (you'll notice there's more than 5 of the generic jobs), but only the first 6 characters do I ever use in decicive battles. The rest of the slots I keep open for breeding various monsters, but there's such a huge variation of what might be in those slots that I'm leaving it blank here. Anyhow, I've always had great success with the characters listed above, with slight variations in secondary skills and support abilities...biggrin.gif

The absolute best party Ive ever personally assembled is:

Ramza, Squire-punch art, blade grasp, two swords, move+3,

Orlandu, Holy Swordsman-draw out, blade grasp, two swrods, move+3

Beowulf, Temple Knight-draw out, blade grasp, two swrods, move+3

Agrias, Holy Knight-white magic, blade grasp, two swords, move+2

Reis, Knight-dragoneer, blade grasp, attackUP, move+2

All have excalibur and chaos blade except Reis, who has excalibur and esteucheonII. Beowulf has robe of lords, Ramza maximillian, Orlandu the genji armor. Agrias has chantage. I detest magical parties. This is a group of fast, merciless killers. Honest to God, I beat Altima with this party maxed at lvl 99 without her/it getting a single turn. Orlandu... boring? Youre out of your mind. When you get him the game gets interesting!

well my party that i enjoy using the most is as follows

Ramza- lancer - basic skill - blade grasp - two hands - ignore height
(i sometimes put Ramza as a knight so he can equip excalibur)
mediator - math skill - counter - magic attack up - move hp up
monk - battle skill - blade grasp - two swords - move hp up
ninja - steal - sunken state - attack up - move +2
samurai - math skill - blade grasp - two hands - move hp up

i usually also keep Agrias, Mustiduo, Orlandu , Beowulf, worker 8, just for fun. I have yet to get Cloud but i like to keep him too. As for Rafa and Malak, i don't even bother letting them onto my team even just to take their stuff(it isn't really that good) and i have yet to find a use for Reis (i don't use dragons). i know that most ppl have move +3 or move +2 as their move ability, but i like move hp up because it almost completely eliminates the need for a healer, and i like to have my samurai with math skill for those times when i do need a healer... so thats my team... i doubt anyone is still reading this but oh well...

I always start off new games with only two generics so I don't have to change my line-up when I get Agrias and Mustadio. It works out pretty good that way, but the fights are a little bit tougher. A little bit.

Yeah...I don't care for magic and it's unreliable nature, or it's charge times etc. I always opt for the physical attackers whenever possible. The only exception is always Garcia (my master summoner w/math skill and all magics, and teleport ability), who can instantly "Math Skill" enemies into submission without the wait. The rest are always warrior classes with the best weapons and definitely "Blade Grasp". My ninja, Akintunde (what kind of name is that??), always gets the Shadow Mantle, but everyone else gets the Feather Mantles to help with evade. Not to be redundant, but here's the breakdown of my main 6 characters skills/items:

Ramza
---------
Guts
White Magic
Blade Grasp
Two Swords
Ignore Height

Garcia (Summoner)
--------
Summon Magic
Math Skill
Damage Split
Half MP
Teleport

Akintunde (Ninja)
-------------
Throw
Item
Blade Grasp
Poach
Ignore Height

Frodo (Mediator)
-------
Talk Skill
Item
Auto-Potion
Throw Item
Move-HP up

Joanne (Samurai)
---------
Draw Out
Item
Blade Grasp
Two Hands
Ignore Height

Serge (Lancer)
-------
Jump
Item
Counter
Monster Skill
Ignore Height

That's the breakdown...I won't bore you with the details of equipment...let's just say I waste the time involved in getting as many rubber suits as possible, and Chaos Blades and Excaliburs (duped, of course) are my good friends. I agree...the final battle is a piece of cake if you rely on heavy hitting warriors...I wouldn't even attempt it with a party primarily of magic users. I'm not saying it can't be done, I just wouldn't do it! biggrin.gif
