Some people are gonna kill me for this, but here goes...

Lyrics are "Fade to Black" - Metallica 1986 from "Ride the lightning"
Final Fantasy IV - Fading Dragon

Picture the cracked, treacherous cliffs of mt. Ordeals.
Picture two draconic figures jumping from one ledge to another - fighting.

Life, it seems, will fade away,
Drifting further every day...

The smaller of the two finally pierces through it's adversary and stands over the corpse to examine it.
It's human, in dragonlike armour and armed with a massive spear.
A dragoon.

...Getting lost within myself,
Nothing matters, no-one else.

Kain cut off one of the dragon's hind legs. He'd roast it over a fire for dinner this night.
'Pathetic...' he thought '...my father would have killed this beast without destroying most of the good meat on it if he wanted to. I'm still as clumsy as I was and I'm not getting better...'

I have lost the will to live.
Simply nothing more to give.

'I'm not sure, if I even deserve to eat a dragon's meat...' he thought.
He rembered his mentor always saying that a Dragoon's soul needs to become as fierce and unblemished, and his body as strong and immune to pain, as those of a dragon
Kain finally threw the half eaten dragon leg away.
"A traitor and weakling like me is not fit to eat such a noble meat..." he mutterred to himself.

There is nothing more for me,
Need the end to set me free

The sun is rising slowly over mt. Ordeals. It's rays make it seem as though the summit is on fire.
If you eye the cliffs carefully enough, you'll be able to see a small shape climbing towards the summit.

Things are not what they used to be,
Missing one inside of me...

If you look a little lower, you may notice a group of similiar shapes following the first one, slowly but shurely.
The distance between the first shape and the group is getting bigger and bigger.

Deathly lost, this can't be real...
Can't stand this hell I feel!

'Finally! The summit!' Kain thought, as he approached the stone shrine on the very pinnacle of mt. Ordeals.
'The place, where Cecil tested himself and became a true knight...'
"Here, I will repent for betraying my friends and truly become a Dragoon!" he said out loud.
He put his hand down on the markings on the stone door.
The light allowed him in.

Emptiness is filling me,
To the point of Agony

He peered through the darkness, that fell in as the door closed. It was pitch-black and he couldn't see himself when he looked down. He heard footsteps coming towards him.
"You poor man..." said a frim, yet gentle voice "...if you are ever to restore faith in youself..." the clanking of armoured footsteps got closer "...you will need to face your greatest fear..." the footsteps stopped in front of Kain "...now, Kain... Fight with all your skill!"
Light came into the chamber.

Growing darkness, taking dawn...
I was me, but now he's gone!

Kain wasn't in the chamber anymore. He was on the bridge leading to the summit once more, another Dragoon. He gasped.
"Kain..." the Dragoon asked "...my son." and he took up his guard.
"F-father..." Kain said. He could not move. He just stood there when his Father pierced into him...

No one but me can save myself, but it's too late...

He woke up outside the shrine.
'So, I've failed...' he thought '...couldn't expect more...'
Something crawled onto the ledge near him.
"Zombies!" he exclaimed, as a few dozen undead climbed up onto the top of mt. Ordeals.
He charged through them.

Now I can't think, think why I should even try...

The zombies, ghouls, revenants and other undead were no match for Kain's fighting skill.
He easily destroyed each and every one of them.

Yesterday seems as though it never existed...

Something inside Kain twitched.
'Why am I fighting?' he asked himself 'What for? I've failed...my friends, myself, my father...I've disgraced the Dragoons...There is nothing more for me...'
He dropped his spear.

Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye.

The End

It's good, except for two things:

the first paragraph is awkward. Maybe if you redo the "Imagine yourself" sentence?

Also, I'm pretty sure that the only reason Cecil's father was able to talk to Cecil that way is because he was an alien. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but...well. Are you saying that anyone's father can be there? Or is Kain's lineage special?

I had an old signature. Now I've changed it.

That was supposed to be Kain's father's image taken from what Kain believed his father to be. An illusion.
Edit
I changed the first sentece as you suggested. Thanks for the advice. ph34r.gif

P.S. I'm happy to see no Kain fans are attacking me...yet.
