presenter killed by instant death!?

I was playing i90east's version, i got to daryl's tomb and had the fight against Presenter, i used the chainsaw on him, it did the hockey mask thingy instead and killed him instantly, did it happen to someone in the original version?

I wanted to get out that creepy dungeon as fast as possible. So I skipped Punisher and went for the REAL boss. I don't hang around with riff-raff half jobs. I fight the real deal....

In the real version a while ago I think I killed the Presenter instantly with the chainsaw also. I think this is because it is not considered a boss so it can be destroyed by the uber-version of the chainsaw.

And if you use "Vanish" with the "Doom" spell, it works MANY times!

By the way, it's not the Punisher in there, it's the Dragon Claw for Sabin. I've killed Presenter with the Chain Saw before, too.

Vanish puts the "vanish" status on the target, making it invulnerable to physical attacks but guaranteeing that magic attacks hit. This is why Vanish/Doom works on so many monsters, even bosses. The thing with Presenter is that not only does Vanish/Doom work on it, Doom itself works, which is rare for bosses.

Try casting break. I don't think it'll work. -------------------- I will be there... |

Vanish guarantees that most spells will hit (exceptions are spells like N. Cross and L.5 Doom), but while status protections will still act normally, Vanish causes the game to skip the check for instant death protection, so Vanish/Doom|X-Zone works on anything vulnerable to Clear status. It also allows Break to hit enemies that are vulnerable to Petrify but have instant death protection (L.40 Magic is an excellent example of this).
Presenter is vulnerable to both instant death and Petrify in the normal game, so just a single use of Shoat can get two Dragon Claws. This post has been edited by Master ZED on 21st February 2004 22:50 -------------------- |
