Is there anything to do about that black chocobo that gets stuck in the town of Mirage in the third world?

Mirage has many secret passages. Search around for awhile. It'll definitely help if you have a thief in your party, someone who has the ability that lets you see hidden passages, or a bare that's mastered thief. Also, more fun with the black chocobo: There's a guy in Mirage before you get him who says something about going around the world. Talk to him, then when you get the black chocobo, if you manage to go all the way around the world with it (go left of mirage and go all the way around the world so you come back to the forest on the right, or vice versa -- yes, it's possible), he'll give you a ribbon.

Thanks, Neal. In any case, I changed one of my characters to a thief, and I saw a whole host of passages, including one leading to the last piano. But when I first encountered that guy who asked me to go around the world on a chocobo, I didn't know how to get to the black chocobo yet so I took Boco around world and got a Mirage Vest for it. Can I do it again with the Black Chocobo to get this Ribbon, and how would I do it--since it flies, what are the rules, e.g. does it have to stay above land?

Quote (Neal @ 15th February 2004 01:35) Also, more fun with the black chocobo: There's a guy in Mirage before you get him who says something about going around the world. It doesn't work with the Black chocobo. You have to use Boco, and, as Glenn said, you get the Mirage Robe. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Oh, duh. Of course you have to use Boco, otherwise you could just fly. My bad.
Anyway, if you're still interested in getting the black chocobo, go to Mirage and enter the Bar from the back entrance. Go down the stairs and out the door. From there, go straight down underneath the bridge, go past the guy (he has an irritating walk pattern), and in the door of the new building. You can heal for free at the pot here, then continue walking up. Go down the stairs. In the next room, if you still have the secret passages ability enabled, you'll see a passage to the left. Go through it. There's another staircase here, go up it to get to the black chocobo. There's also a hidden piano is another passage in the staircase room. The black chocobo is also the only "vehicle" in the third world that you can use to land in the humongus desert that leads to the Phoenix Tower and the mountain where you get Bahamut, so it's definitely worth it. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Which is exactly what I did. (Turned out that, against my suspicion, Bahamut was much easier than Leviathan because of the latter's Tidal Wave attack. I didn't like how FFIIus was cheesy in that Ogopogo's Big Waves and Wyvern's Meganukes weren't that powerful, so I got a kick out of this.) Thanks to everyone!
