Terra!

Celes is too... I don't know... vestal. I wish Kefka had terminated her existance.

Celes,

She is responsible for one of the best musics in the FF series, plus, she has Runic, casts spells, and is a great swords-person. Whats wrong with her?

Terra was General Leo's girl. Shortly after he dies she goes all Matriachal with the kiddies. She was definately too much of a prude for Locke.

I must say I found terra the most useful. After I trained the heck out of her that is. I trained her so she knew all of the best spells: fire3,bolt3,ice3,x-zone, stuff like that, that made her a real asset.

I think if by "General Leo's Girl" u mean that there were romantic sparks flying btw them that might be true but it probably only to a very small extent. Leo only was telling her about love, not trying to court her by doing that or anything else. he wasn't trying to force her upon him He jes wanted her 2 use her own self 2 discover the tangled web of emotions within herself.

BTW, I don't think Terra should be slammed because she gets "Matriachal' with the kids. It's another example, other than Kefka, of how the makers managed 2 think outta the box. I mean, 2 most pple, love=BGR, or Boy-girl relationships. However, this love that Terra has discovered within herself is not this kind of love but rather Maternal Love, which should in NO WAY be considered inferior to any other sort of love. All types of love, if u ask me, are none the better or worse than any other.
And if u ask me, I'm personally getting tired of seeing BGR storlyines. The whole scenario jes gets too....predictable! Terra's type of love was a refreshing and interesting break in the monotomy. Great work, SquareSoft!!!

Celes is hands down the best. Runic is way better than Scetch and can be used more often than Morph plus it diables most spells. If we go into the hottie factor Realm isnt even a contendor and i dunno about you all but i prefer my own species shifty.gif

My favorite would be Terra because she has the morph ability and she can do mega damage when she is in it and because she naturally has high Magic Power.

relm is an anoying kid so she's out, that leaves celes and terra: celes is a powerful magitek knight/general(/swimsuite model) and terra is half human, half esper...
hmm... i'm going for celes cause she's not as confused as terra... and she likes swords tongue.gif

Out of battle statistics, I enjoy using Celes more in a battle. Her Runic is more useful than Terra's Morph, and she has a better battle feel because her sprite isn't on the atkins diet.

With overall character and personality, Terra wins that one because she's much more real than Celes and stays in character the entire game. Celes, on the other hand, wanes from being a battle hardened general to an opera floozy to some emotional wreck and then becomes friendly and more soft.

Terra, on the other hand, doesn't change dramatically without some dramatic event happening to her

While Celes sometimes changes personality for a good reason, she does tend to act out of character every once and awhile.

Celes' vigor/battle power aren't high enough to do anything, unless you have the Atma Weapon equipped on her. And her Runic abillity is 100% useless, unless you're too low of a level to take a hit from a single-target spell (might I suggest casting Reflect instead?). Let's also remember that Runic can absorb your own party's spells, which is an annoyance and a waste of two turns.

Terra has almost the same vigor/battle power, but with Morph, she deals twice as much damage as normal, and receives half as much damage as normal. And Morph actually lasts longer the more you fight with Terra. Wish I could say that Runic gets better, but it pretty much stays terrible.

Both Celes and Terra can also learn magic without the aid of espers. The last 7 spells Celes will learn are Berserk, Ice 3, Vanish, Haste2, Pearl, Flare, and Meteor. Haste2 is a solid effect spell, but Celes lacks in the offensive department. Only Ice 3 and Meteor can hit multiple enemies, and even then Ice 3 is only effective against bosses with a weakness to Ice magic, leaving her with just Meteor.

Terra, on the other hand, will learn Fire 3, Life 2, Pearl, Break, Quarter, Merton, and Ultima as her 7 last spells. Life 2 is a staple spell late in the game, as is the ever-favourite Ultima. Merton is also extremely powerful and incredibly useful if your characters are equipped to up their magic defense (or nullify/absorb fire).

And while you rarely ever see them, how about desperation attacks? Both Celes and Terra's desperation attacks hit all enemies for powerful non-elemental damage, but Terra's also hits with Poison. One up, again.

And on top of all of that, Terra is the main focus of the storyline for almost the entire tenure in the World of Balance, and you learn a great deal about who she is, where she came from, what she wants, etc. What exactly do we learn about Celes throughout the game? Well ... she's a soldier, not some love-starved twit. Oh, and she's not an opera floozy. I uh ... I feel like I really got to know her through those two facts.

IN SHORT, Celes is a boring pile of garbage, whereas Terra is more powerful, and has a better story.

<--- *points to avatar* Gee, I wonder who my choice was. XD

Celes wins it for me. She's been my favorite FF girl for a while now, and still is. I liked Terra until WoR, but her development there never really did anything for me, whereas Celes' development and the fact that she's given focus during that portion of the game was what really made me adore her character.

Even when I made her kill Cid.

*cough* It was an accident! Really! *cough* I just walked out to the world map ONCE so I could save and... and... *cries*

As for Relm...? Eiko > Relm. XD Not a big Relm fan here.

Tina/Celes can just be thrown in second. But I would consider Tina my favorite main character* (of the series), but I still like Relm better overall.

Celes, I personally think has a better storyline. Besides she's not the cliched dependant-on-a-male-character female in the game. In many ways, she is superior to some of the male characters.

Seriously? Because, correct me if I'm wrong, but from the Magitek Research Facility part of the game and onward, her storyline revolves around her being infatuated with Locke.

The whole Thamasa incident? The fact that she leaves Solitary Island because she wants to find Locke? How she approaches Locke after you get him from the Phoenix Cave? Any of these sound familiar?

Celes

cuz she's potentially the strongest and most well-balanced of any char in the game. she gets max mblock easier than terra, and hits max dmg at higher levels without morph anyway, which kinda makes terra redundant. also she has more speed than terra.

this is what celes looks like in my game at lv99:

137 speed
x-magic
all spells cost 1mp
129 mblock

you simply can't squeeze this much power into any other char.

oh, and she looks the best too wub.gif

Terra's nifty.

Relm, while amazing in the ways of magic, if leveled properly, doesn't provide much fun for one's imagination.

Celes is an ex-Imperial General turned Returner. C'mon! How cool is that?!?!

Yes I imagine fights in a cooler 3 dimensional etc. world while they happen on the screen, so sue me! biggrin.gif

I've always loved Celes! She's beautiful, powerful, and probably the most loyal friend you could ever have. Sure, she's a former Imperial general, but that doesn't mean she can't be loyal. Also, when it comes to overall power, she has the highest balance of magic and physical power. The only time Terra has her beat is in Esper form. Otherwise, Celes could obliterate her. Plus, if I remember correctly, she can learn Ultima naturally through leveling up. That is one chick I wouldn't mind having at my side in a fight! Also, I always name Locke after me, so naturally I would like Celes!

I love all three girls, but Terra's my favorite. She's got an interesting storyline, she's full of admirable traits, she's cute, and she has that ever so awsome Morph skill.

I pick Celes. I don't know, I like Terra and Celes both a lot. Relm's okay, but I never really payed much attention to her and never really used her even though she does have the best magic attack =P

But with the point, I see lots of live change with Celes in the game. And when I mean live change, is you can really feel and see her character change. With Terra yeah, you see her change, but it's just not as real to me as the way Celes changes as a person.

The one thing I don't like about Celes is her love-sickness for Lock, I wish she wouldn't be so focused on that, but she relates to me in some ways. Well she relates to everyone in a lot of ways, she's not perfect, she's trying to improve herself, idk, but Celes gets my win. Terra is a very close second.

Terra... it's merely obvious really. Why because she is after over-all unique. I love her Morph ability. Even though Celes's Runic is just as useful.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Okay… to be perfectly frank. I never liked her. She reminds me too much of all the other female characters who got the leading male. Like Aries, I just don’t like her. I don’t like her personality, I don’t like her clothes. I mean she’s thrown into a jail and she’s in shock. I mean she should have been full aware of whom she worked for. While Terra was under the SlaveCrown. How can she have known.

Also, there’s something pure and innocent about her, I mean considering they’re both the same age. Terra’s character feels more genuine. While Celes was the general who couldn’t get out of a lousy jail cell. Who also FF cliché fell in love with first sight.

Also I just thought; when she asked Terra “Do you know what love is?”… I was like what? How is she suppose to know. I mean what was she doing shoving it in her face. That Locke loves her? Was I the only one who took it wrong, or did someone else notice that?

Yes, it's basically just a Giant Rant...
Plus Relm is cool and all though I can't depend on her Sketch.

I actually voted for relm. Not because I like here, definately not because I used her, and not even because of her superior magic skills (which means I now wish that I had used her....). But solely because of the simple fact that when I used sketch on a blue dragon (most likely one of the 8 dragons, but it's been a while), the game glitched and I got 99 PALADING SHEILDS 99 RAGNAROK SWORDS 99 ILLUMINA BLADE... well in short I got 99 of every item in the game..... So that officially put relm as my favorite character ever.

i just changed my mind. after messing around with my perfect party for awhile, i realized that terra beats celes simply because of morph. she is my party's leading mage AND fighter both at the same time. at the end game she uses:

illumina
force shield
mystery veil
mirage vest (10%mblock, and also cuz i like the speed)
gem box
offering

and because i brought her into the WOR at lv6, i had all 93 level ups dedicated to increasing her speed. so with all that gear she has 140 speed, which means she takes the first turn every battle even in a pincer. on top of that, she can wipe out every enemy in the final battle in a single turn, and never ever dies because of the 127 mblock.

not that the character's role in the storyline is going to affect my preference of course
