I was browsing the "Rumours" section of the CoN site, and was quite impressed with some of the BS there, especially the stuff with the convincing screenshots. I'd really like to know how that "Tiamat" enemy picture was faked...if it was drawn by a player, somebody has real talent (I tried to ask, but the email of the person who submitted it apparantly does not exist anymore). Some of the stuff there, even with the disclaimer that it was all BS, sounded so convincing that I almost went ahead and tried it anyway!
![]() Hey...by the way...who's the head moderator/owner of this site? Do they ever post here or visit the site? I was just curious when I was sending a rumor of my own to the address listed the other day...on other forums I've always made an effort to get to get acquainted with the people who ran them if they actually visited them...just curious, anyhow. ![]() -------------------- You know me, you just wish you didn't... Yeah the rumors were total BS Majik Monkee. I tried some of them and they didn't work and I was looking forward to fighting optional bosses (With a gembox/crystal orb combo Ultima will be a snap to pull off get Gogo to mimic that and victory will be mine!) The Gesthal and Leo rumors were probaly the stupidest rumors.

That would be Rangers51, and yes, he does post frequently. Look through some of the threads, and you'll find him.
If you look at the bottom of the forums main page, you'll see a link to the Moderation Team, so you can see all our nicknames, and who does what. I'm an Admin, myself. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Nice to meet you...and thanks for the info. Part of what I was wondering was if I'd hear anything one way or the other after sending a submission for the "rumors" section (it's been a few days, but I wasn't expecting an instant reply anyway), but wasn't sure who dealt with that stuff, or who's email address it was I sent that to when I clicked on the link it gave for submitting. That does clear up things, though in some respects...thanks again!

Majik Monkee, after seeing the picture of Tiamat, it appears to be from a game Bahamut Lagoon. All of the graphics from that game are a lot like FF6, and some of the dragon graphics in it are the same as in FF6.

I hate to ruin it for you, Majik Monkee, and to say too much, Rangers51, but that Rangers51 had told me so himself that the only reason that these guys aren't adding in any given rumors sent in to them as of yet is because that they're waiting to get rumors for the other games first (FF4, FF5, and FFT), apparently. Even though, that I had already told Rangers51 also of the generally-known rumor of how to unstone the twins in FF4, and that we're even now waiting for that one to be added in, too. I'll also be glad when that these guys do finally start adding in more rumors sent in to them, since that I can find with Google and Yahoo of 1 to 15 other rumors created by others elsewhere on the Internet, huh? >Danny<

Ahh...thanks for clearing that up...I thought there was a stupendous graphics artist somewhere on this forum, but now I know the truth...clever use of other graphics, nonetheless...it had me fooled...
I've never heard talk of a rumor of how to unstone the twins in FF4...my rumor dealt with the "how to get Cecil from FF4 in FFVI" rumor that you may or may not have heard of... ![]() -------------------- You know me, you just wish you didn't... Many of the rumors seem rather far-fetched, but a few are quite believable. My favorite one is Neal's "How to get Leo. In CRAZY Land"

Well, l)arkShadow, that try this one at the very top for the Gamma Sword instead: http://www.angelfire.com/ct/gibsonebol/rumors.txt, and that it seems to make slightly more sense than the original version of that rumor. >Danny<

I think I am going to make up rumors that lead the people who try them to something that no one would have found... like some stupid peice of land that has no meaning what so ever but is not really noticable... For example... in FFIV.
I have found a way to get two rat tails to trade for ... Excauliberx (or something)Finally it would lead to get the black chocobo to live in baron.... I have acually have done this before but I am sure people have found that one out. I didn't mean for this to get TOO much off-topic but we were talking about rumors so I just thought one up. Hmmm...I'm not sure if there's any basis of truth to any of the rumors...too bad, because it would be kind of fun to go on some of the complicated quests that have come from the minds of FF gamers if there were actual rewards to them. No offense to Leo fans, but I've always been amazed at how many rumors there are from people about how to bring him back...I mean, I liked him and all, but there's really very little development of his character, and his "Shock" skill is pretty good, but nothing amazing. Like I said, no offense to Leo fans, but that would just be adding another character to already bursting at the seams lineup.
Here's a rumour I'll reveal right here, since it doesn't merit submitting to the rumours section...it's a real winner! ------------------------------------------------------ TURN GOGO INTO GESTHAL, DARYL, OR LEO Here's a neat trick I've discovered that will make Gogo into one of the characters listed above. Keep in mind that the moves will be the same as the original Gogo (Mimic, without Fight command). Let the Zone Eater in the World of Ruin suck up your entire party. You will be taken to the underground cavern where Gogo dwells (refer to a walkthru if you need help reaching him/her). Talk to Gogo, and they will join your party. Here's the tricky part...when Gogo joins your party, you will be given the chance to rename the character. This will influence which character Gogo becomes for the rest of the game. Enter either "Gesthal", "Daryl", or "Leo", depending on which character you want Gogo to become. Make sure you spell it correctly. Congratulations! Gogo has now officially become whichever character you have renamed him/her to! Keep in mind that this trick does not change the actual appearance of the character. Also, the your new character will retain the original skill set of the character Gogo, which is "Mimic" ability. So far, no new scenes or dialogue have been discovered as a result of performing this trick, and the ending for the character is the same as if the character were still named Gogo, but you will have the satisfaction of having performed this trick successfully, and having changed who Gogo really is! ![]() ------------------------------------------------------ ![]() ![]() -------------------- You know me, you just wish you didn't... I could try itif I wanted to spend another 20+ hours getting there wgen I started playing FFVI on my SNES Emulator when i got to the floating continent after 12-18 hours on the game it got too hard for me and I restarted playing FFVI again. |

Well, I guarantee the trick works just like it says it does...which is more than can be said for most of the rumours. For your own sake, I recommend you don't try it, unless you've got way too much time on your hands. Even then, it might not be all that worth it...

If FFVI Forgotten Story comes out with a construction set, like morrowind did, (I doubt it though) It would be cool to put rumors like that although you could make them true.
Forgive me if I have gotten too much off-topic. |

Here is a nifty little rumor i accedently discoverd.
When you leave Zozo in WoB to go to the magitek factory you are required to have Celes and Locke with you. If you want to take them out of your party you can go to the airship and clear the party then add whomever you want. *note: i dont know how this will affect the final scene in the magitek factory as i replaced Locke and Celes after removing them for a while but i assume they will just fly in like Terra does in the final sequence if you dont get her in the WoR -------------------- There is a time and a place for everything, and I am niether |

Actually, as for that "rumor spoof", "Gestahl" cannot be created since you can only enter up to 6 characters for names.

Actually, I have another programmer's rumour which I'm very sure of - this has nothing to do with a released game, mind you, but the Japanese Alpha that a fairly respected guy (I don't remember him though) got his hands on at one point. Maybe he was some nobody on the dev team, snagged a copy, and then waited until the release to do anything with it (so he wouldn't get busted, unlike the Doom 3 Alpha guy).
Anyway...the Alpha story had a LOT of differences, namely Kefka wasn't the villain! Kefka actually got his ass handed to him by the Goddesses on the Floating Continent (after he aced Gestahl) - and he ends up where we now find Gogo. No, I'm not saying Gogo is Kefka or something stupid like that. (LOL) All I'm saying is that at one point in an early alpha version, you got Kefka in your party. I'd assume they let him join for similar reasons they let Magus in in Chrono Trigger. The second one is that YES, Leo WAS originally (alpha-wise) intended to be playable. That's the explanation I've been given for the two extra party select slots, and it's pretty believable. I mean, the battles during the Kefka chase sure seemed like an afterthought (sprites to burn?) as well as the one at the Sealed Gate. Personally I would've badassified Kefka in the Sealed Gate battle and made you hold him for, oh, say, 2 minutes? Hehehehehehe... |

It's just as well...I doubt I would have used Kefka if he was given to me...I probably would have stripped him of all his goods and left him on the shelf. I shudder to think of the prospect of the Kefka portrait in the status screen, though. Some of them were bad enough, just imagine what they'd do with him.

That graphic is from Bahamut Lagoon, and can quite easily be inserted into Final Fantasy 3/6's ROM with an outside program. Also, the name of any monster can be easily changed using Thingy and a table file with enemy names, and finally, the monster party consisting of said monster can easily be constructed using Yousei's Final Fantasy III editor.
Sure, a lot of work to make up a fake rumor, but at least he went the extra mile to offer image "proof." ![]() |
