OK, my question is simple: Have you ever tried to play music from any video/computer game on real instruments? If so, then please elaborate. We already started a small topic-like thing in music. I'm lazy, so I'm just gonna paste down what I had before:
Quote What I do, pianomaster, is that my school has this really nice keyboard with a floppy disk drive, and so I get to play FF midis on there. I take a midi (for example, the chocobo theme from FFVI) and tailor out a part that I can play. Then, I save the midi to a floppy disk, put it in the keyboard, set the sound to Harpsichord (it's the chocobo theme, after all), press play, and I can play the harpsichord part in the chocobo song! Neat, huh? I do this with a lot of FF songs, exclusively VI so far. I'm gonna start doing them from VII soon. Oh BTW, I'm no good at piano (I took lessons for like 2 years some 7 years ago), but the chocobo song was really easy to learn All the better for me, I guess... It still stands now. I'm thinking of adding these kind of piano-ized midis to my site. Contributins will be welcome. This post has been edited by Figaro on 16th January 2004 00:24 -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I have the OST and Piano Collection arrangements from FFIV, FFVI, and FFVII, and the OST from Parasite Eve. I have a few random arrangements for the piano from FFVIII, FFIX, and FFX, as well, and one (crappy) piano arrangement from Lunar: Silver Star Story.
Some of the arrangements are surprisingly good. I think the best I have are 'Forever Rachel' arranged by Michael Huang and 'To Zanarkand' arranged by Arnold Morrison. Those also happen to be the two I've performed in public. The 'Orchestral Theme' from Parasite Eve is actually very good on the piano, as well, but it takes a little more patience; it's like ten pages long, or some absurd thing like that. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Yes, there is a FF book for guitar you can buy. There's also few different websites that have tabs for FF songs. |

I sometimes do, yes. Either on piano or guitar. It's much more fun to play it on the piano since you can do both the melody and the chords. If you play on the guitar, you'll have to either sing while playing the chords or just play the melody, and neither of them are especially funny. Perhaps you could arrange it in a great way on guitar, but I'm way too lazy to do that.
I don't own any piano arrangment books, but I mostly arrange or tab the stuff myself. I listen to the mp3 over and over again until I get the notes correctly. -------------------- People say I'm a slow learner, but I type fast! |

I attempt to arrange game music for the piano. I've in my head arranged most of the FFVI and CT themes, but I have only written down 1 and am working on another. I'm done with Setzer's theme and I'm working on Kefka's theme. (4 Feb. 2004)

I just finally came up with a working arrangement (+ enhancement if you want) of the fourth Dancing Mad track. That leaves me the end of the second DM track to work on, and then I'll be able to play the music of the entire final marathon battle on the piano!
