Hola,
Been browsing the forums (and other sites) for a while, but I've got one question that I haven't found an answer for: How do the 50% elemental resistances (of the Force Armor and Force Shield specifically) interact? If both were equiped, would there be... A) Still only 50% resistance--non-cumulative resistances, B) 100% resistance--50% from each, but I don't think this is the case (try equiping both Forces and casting Fire 3 on yourself), C) 75% resistance --50% resist from one piece of armor (leaving 50% coming through as damage) --The remaining damage (50%) cut in half by the other piece of armor I've looked over some of the computation algorithim web-sites, but with little success. Thanks to any hardcore, in-depth gamers that have an idea on this one |

The game only considers this:
If target is resistant to the element of the attack:
There are no other computations or factors involved when determining element resistance damage. Because of this I'm coming to the conclusion that multiple resistances do not stack. -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

That is correct. The game only checks to see if the "50% damage" statistic is true or false, and it only checks it once per target. So, no, it is not cumulative.

This isn't exactly an answer to your question, but it's on topic.
I believe I remember reading somewhere once that if you have two different resistances (Absorb/Half) that it would take the best. It was either that or it would take the difference (Half-Absorb=Null). Also, another interesting point is with Runic. If you have Half, Celes absorbs only half the MP. Null absorbs no MP, and Absorb loses MP. -------- sbq92 <>< -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |
