While reading other posts here, I got an idea for a new topic!
Here goes: What two characters did you leave behind on the airship to cook the food and clean the floor while the others hit a major strike on Kefka's Tower? This is of course assuming that you found more than 12 characters. ![]() I left Celes and Terra. I don't really know why, and I don't think there are many other that would do that. I know they have great stats and are wonderful magic users, but somehow, fighting with them never really appealed to me. And neither "Morph" nor "Runic" were very useful for me. This lead to that they, in the end, had very low levels compared to the other people, and I didn't want to bother with them anymore. So that's why I left them. Who did you leave? -------------------- People say I'm a slow learner, but I type fast! |

hmm...first time through, i left umaro and gau, because they weren't very useful to me, being as they were uncontrollable. then i learned that gau had several excellent rages, and that gogo has garbage for stats. on mt subsequent plays through, i would usually leave gogo and one other (umaro if it's my first time through kekfa's tower -- so i can make sure to get all the items/lores, and subsequently, a character like relm, strago, or locke that i hadn't used much throughout the game).

I always leave Umaro and Gogo behind.
Umaro is strong, but his uncontrolabilty never helped me. And Gogo, first time through, I didn't know about him selecting his abilities and mimic never helped me either. And after I did learn about it, I thought it was so cheap to do that. So, I never brought him. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

Like Sabin, I also leave Umaro and Gogo behind. However, if I'm feeling rather mysterious, sometimes I leave Setzer behind and take Gogo. For some reason I just don't like Setzer, so he's usually pretty under-leveled by the time I get to Kefka's tower.

I often find myself leaving Relm and Strago, because I don't use them much, and they're usually outlevelled...

Hee hee, I was actually gonna post this topic. You beat me to it. Yay you!
![]() My first time through the game, I forgot to save Shadow on the Floating Continent, so I only had 13 characters in my party. I left Gau behind. For reasons why, see the "Least Favorite Character" topic. Since then, I haven't played through the game far enough to get to Kefka's Tower, but I think I'd probably leave Strago. I dunno...I guess the Lores are cool and all, but not very cost-effective. When it comes down to it, I'd rather take a Morphed Terra casting Holy. ![]() |

Gogo and Gau.
I didn't much rely on Magic or special skills, so Gogo didn't really serve much of a perpose for me. More than that, though, Gogo didn't offer anything new to me, he just copied another charecter. Gau didn't really seem to me to have much of a storyline in the game, it was just sort of "I'm a wild boy! I'll fight, too!". From a view of strategy, I was never able to figure out what rages did what, and neither did I have the interest in learning. I basically left them behind everywere. |

I believe I left Setzer and Gau. I never liked either of them. Didn't like not controlling Gau, and Setzer...well it's Setzer.

I have never brought Locke and Relm with me to the tower, and probably never will. I hate the both of them with a passion. Something just feels wrong attacking a monster or the diabolical Kefka, the epitome of all evil in the world, with a paint brush. And since I don't use steal (I never get anything good, or don't successfully steal most of the time, so he's a waste of a turn), Locke doesn't have anything else going for him that can easily be done as good as or better than he. I do seem to follow a trend of liking some of the more uncontrollable/unpredictable members of the party to keep the game fun and, as I said, not so predictable.
Gau used to be a close 3rd person that I just brought along because I had to, but the young boy has really grown on me, and has now become a central character for every game. He's just so FUN in terms of versatility and a different method of fighting. |

I keep Mog and Setzer on the ship, usually, but other pairs have been left behind as well, such as Terra/Shadow, Umaro/Gogo, and Locke/Edgar.

![]() well anyways, its always kinda different, but for the most part i dont like gau just because if you pick the wrong rage, he could end up HEALING enemies and then you gotta kill him, which is probably a good course of the action whether hes healing enemies or not. i dont like relm OR strago particularly, but i usually took along relm because i like the control ability a lot, so strago's usually the odd man out. ![]() ![]() -------------------- You watch the world exploding every single night Dancing in the sun, a newborn in the light Say goodbye to gravity and say goodbye to death Hello to eternity and live for every breath Your time will come... |

I would always leave behind Umaro and Gogo. First, they took less part in the storyline than any other character (although Gogo raises the most speculation). Second, I don't like uncontrollable characters that much (Umaro). Gau you can at least choose which Rage you want, or cast a spell or select an item. I also don't like Gogo in battles that much, despite being able to customize a variety of abilities for him. He has some of the worst stats and those stats cannot be raised by Esper bonuses like other characters.

Gau and Cyan. I don't like Rages and never bother to get them, and I don't have the patience for Cyan's swordtech.

This time for me, it will be Mog and Umaro since I have no intentions of recruiting them *ever* on my current playthrough. Sure, Moogle Charm would be nice, but I don't really care, and Umaro has not once benefitted my team so I'll just rob him of Terrato and leave (if I even bother with that). The Fanatic's Tower I can already level and as for the Phases, I doubt the exp. would push my level average beyond 11 anyway (one of my goals is a 128 Speed Locke).
I would have said Setzer and Umaro as I always have done before, but... well.... ![]() This post has been edited by Master ZED on 29th September 2003 04:53 -------------------- |

It changed each time I play the game through. Last time I left Celes and Sabin.

Well, I don't think I'll be rejecting Setzer anymore...
I just completed the 3-Man Challenge, and an L-46 Setzer named Chisa just destroyed Kefka in two battle rounds, one on one. In other news, I'm still not going to bring Mog. That useless little moogle still warms the bench. Alongside him will probably be Locke now, just 'cuz I don't like him. -------------------- My soul is bound to the Mistress of the Afterlife, and my fealty is to her always. I usually leave behind Relm because well...its Relm she's worthless and the other depends on either her stupid grandpa Strago, the dumbass Gau, or idiot Umaro...depending on who I decided to level up

Relm and Strago coz i dun really like to use their ability.
Locke is great if u play him as a warrior (forget about his steal =.=). Gau sometimes, coz i'm lazy. He can be very great but require many time to train |

Relm and Gau, every time. I never used Rage, even when u first get Gau i never get rages. And relms sketch is only good when its changed to control to get lores. Besides that, they dont help me at all in kefka's tower.

Sabin: Because his magic power is pathetic and I gave Gogo the Blitz skill instead! I like Sabin much better than Gogo, because you can build up Sabin's stats by equipping Espers on Sabin with a Magic + 2 level up. His Magic Pwr rises very quickly, while with Gogo you can't equip Espers on him. Gau and Relm, AKA Captain Worthless and Madame Waste-Of-Space. I don't understand how people wouldn't wanna take Gogo. Nothing better than Bum Rushing someone with Sabin and then having Gogo repeat it right after. And WHY would you leave Terra???? By this point in the game she's usually the strongest fighter!

i left relm and strago because.....
choice1: Relm- Her ability is utterly useless in the tower. She barely is accurate and when she is, the ability misses because its a death spell. The only use i find of her is "Target". choise2a:Strago- Maybe i didnt feel like getting all of his abilities because he got his a$$ kicked whenever i tried. I naturally hate blue magicians, as i like to finish matches before i get hit. Strago is a natural crap-pile, and i dont think he deserves the hype people give him. choise2b: Gau. I didnt want to waste time on him either, especially since it is so time consuming to get these gay rages for a char i dont use. The one reason i take him with me is that i hate strago more. Setzer is one of the 5 people i have level 99, because simply i like the randomness of his attacks. I have the offering on him, and then bet my friend money on who can guess closer to what he throws on his fixed dice. |

I left Cyan and Relm, since I can't wait for Cyan's SwdTech's (as much as I like his character) and Relm's Sketch/Control ability isn't too useful for me.
I structured my final lineup from least to most powerful, and ended up with something like this: Locke (stealing Elixirs, and if I can keep him alive, Ragnarok and AtmaWeapon too!) Setzer (can't control his slot too well) Edgar (tools just aren't as powerful as blitzes) Celes (must have powerful magic user in opening team) Umaro (I might consider putting him further in front, since I can't control him, but he did save my @$$ once when he was the only character left facing Kefka and took K. out with a Storm) Mog (dances are cool, but don't seem to give me what I need when I need them) Gogo (Blitz, Magic, Fight/Item: just a slightly weaker version of Sabin, but still can do Bum Rushes like mad!) Gau (he can really kick @$$ or heal your party really well with those rages...just can't control when he does, that's all) Shadow (throwing strong stuff can really have a big impact) Sabin (now here's the real blitz master) Strago (lore and magic: can either call upon GrandTrain or Ultima: 2nd most powerful character, in my opinion) Terra (morphs into an almost unstoppable force) I usually don't get past Gau. But if I do, I will have stronger and stronger characters to throw at Kefka or his obelisk. I usually use physical attacks, but if it gets down to Strago and Terra, I will lay Ultima and GrandTrain thick on anything. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing.
