After just beating the game again, and basking in the glory that is the theme from the final battle (Dancing Mad.... Gotta love Kefka in his crazy angel form...) I came to wonder whether or not an orchestrated version of this song had been recorded or not.
While I know have managed to find orchestrated versions of many ffvi songs, this one remains difficult for me. Is there any recording of this song with a full orchestra? Was it orchestrated in anthologies? -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

Grand Finale doesn't have Dancing Mad on it, which I believe is the only orchestrated collection of FFVI music. Anthologies just used the original sound version of the music.

I once had most of the FFVI songs remixed techno-stylee!
It was about as good as it sounds though............ ![]() -------------------- Chrono Triggers rock super-group: Ozzie - lead singer from Black Sabbath Flea - Bassist from Red Hot Chilli Peppers Slash - Guitarist from Guns 'n' Roses He drinks and smokes his cares away His heart is in the lonely way Living in the ruins Of a castle built on sand... A long time ago I downloaded an orchestrated version of Dancing Mad. It was weird because I could tell it was a live performance because there was clapping at the beginning and end of it. I wish I still had it.

Well, I was just able to get myself a copy of the Black Mages' "rock" version of the song. It is pretty excellent, but I'm not sure whether or not I enjoy it as much as the original.
I'm not going to lie, though; Anyone who enjoys the music from Final Fantasy VI, ESPECIALLY "Dancing Mad," will thoroughly enjoy this rendition. Just imagine the final battle being accompanied by a Meatloaf-esque rock opera version of the song.... Pretty cool, no? Just wanted to let you know that I was able to find a rendition of the song with live instruments... Hopefully you will be able to find a copy as well. -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

HA HA HA!
This reminds me of the time I downloaded Castlevania's 'Vampire Killer' theme on Kazaa. Except it was a heavy metal version! I then changed the filename to: Iron Maiden - Vampire Killer. And it got downloaded off me like crazy! You can find actual soundtracks for final fantasy games at gkworld.com or on ebay. Or you can look on KaZaa, although the best I've been able to manage on there is a real nice version of One Winged Angel. Good luck!

*grins at DD* Hehe, I have three different versions of "Vampire Killer"--one labeled as "techno gothic", one as "heavy metal", and one as "techno trance". My favorite one is this last one, because it's the most accurate with regards to the actual tune, and it's also the longest. The "heavy metal" one hardly sounds a thing like it, and the "techno gothic" is decent; it takes a few artistic liberties with the tune, but it's not bad.
What I'd really love is a techno (or whatever) version of "Stalker" from the same game; that's my favorite tune. But when I do a search for it, I get all sorts of stupid crap that I don't want--most of it by rap groups. Lame. ![]() I was recently trying to find a file of "The Man with the Machine Gun", also known as Laguna's battle theme from FF8. I finally managed to get the version from the game the other night; before that, I kept getting an orchestrated version, which was absolutely hilarious to listen to, but not what I was looking for. ![]() This post has been edited by Syndarr on 30th January 2004 00:55 |

By orchestrated do you mean arranged for orchestra and then played and recorded live or do you mean played and recorded live on the original instruments (which I think are electric guitar, percussion, and pipe organ)?
