Ok I'm new to the whole "I can't do Blitzes the standard way" thing. My Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad is bad for doing them unlike the SNES controller. Could we generate a list here of how to do all the rolling Blitzes without the diagonal directions? I'm getting Bum Rush soon and I have to be able to pull it off consistently like in the old days. Here's what I know so far:
Aurabolt: Down, Down, Left Fire Dance: Left, Left, Down, Down, Right No matter what I try I can't seem to get Air Blade to work. So I need to know how to do that and Bum Rush. In the FAQ RoyalKnight says: Quote (RoyalKnight) As an aside, when you have to use a diagonal for a blitz, you can also use one of the two directions that make up that diagonal. Thus, if you have to hit down-left, say for Bum Rush, you can hit either down OR left instead and it will still work. This is very handy for those playing with a PSX pad or a keyboard. So theoretically this should work: Up, Up, Right, Right, Down, Down, Left. Nope. Help! -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

Just press both directions on either side of the diagonal simultaneously.
So, if you need to press down-left, just press down and left at the same time. -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |

That won't work, Divine Dragon, because some gamepads only allow one keypress to be sent to the engine at a time.
You're right, i90, that should work. Why it doesn't is a mystery to me, because I can't recall any blitzes not working for me. My pad is a Gravis Gamepad Pro USB, though, so I can't guarantee that your Sidewinder will operate the same way. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Ugh, gee whiz. I inputted the command more carefully and it does work. Alright well folks in case you were wondering, here's how it goes:
Aurabolt: Down, Down, Left Fire Dance: Left, Left, Down, Down, Right Air Blade: Up, Up, Right, Right, Down, Down, Left Bum Rush: Left, Left, Up, Up, Right, Right, Down, Down, Left -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

Wow! You know, I've been playing this game since it first came out, and I never knew this...but it's a godsend, that's for sure. Those "down-to-left" and other motions you have to input for some of the blitzes can be a pain to do over and over perfectly every time. It's also hard on the controller, especially if you're still using an original SNES deck and controllers to play like I am. Very cool trick, and more than a little useful. I've never pulled off so many consecutive successful "Auro Bolt"s or "Fire Dance"s in my life...good stuff!
