It's that time of the year again, folks. It's almost March Madness -- March 14th marks Selection Sunday when the 65 teams for the NCAA tournament will be set. In order to get as many people in the CoN pool as possible, I went ahead and made the group early. All you'll need to join in the madness is a Yahoo ID.

To join the group, go here: http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/men

Group Name: Caves of Narshe
Group ID: 1088
Password: conrox

Let me know if anyone needs anything more, or if there's a more accurate link to the join page.

I have joined as Poque.

Edit
The prize is a custom title, lasting two months, and the CoN reserves the right to not accept titles that contain foul language, intolerant behaviour or anything against the CoN rules. Since there are staff members competing in this competition, the highest-scoring non-staff member will win the custom title, provided there are at least 8 non-staff participants.

this is just one of 8 different pools I'm partaking in, however only 3 are for money... but a custom title is better than cash

Just wanted to point out that UIC locked up the Horizon league automatic berth last night. We're 24-7, and I have to think we'll be a 12-13 seed on selection Sunday. I'm hoping for a 12 seed, we've all seen the damage they've been able to do recently (Butler in the sweet 16 last year, Mizzou in the elite 8 two years ago, Temple in the elite 8 three years ago.) Hopefully if the selection Gods are on my side this year, I'll be able to go watch it in person (last time we made it, we were a 15 seed playing Oklahoma down in Texas pinch.gif)

Perhaps I'm crazy dense, but what's a title and why do I want it customized? Is that the thing that usually reads like Cactuar, Magitek Soldier, Returner, and the like?

Yes, it is. The only reason you'd want it personalized is as a status symbol.

My tournament luck: I get all the 5-12 games right (including the two 12 seed upsets) but get all the 8-9 games wrong. For the second year in a row pinch.gif. And my national champion pick had trouble beating UCF in the first round.
As for UIC, I could have told you there was no way we could handle them inside. Our best big man is friggin' 6-4. Ya can't win when you're getting outrebounded by a 3-1 margin.

Brackets aside, what upsets does everyone see happening in round two? I think the St. Louis bracket is going to be clean and go 1-2-3-4, and the same with the Phoenix bracket. However...in East Rutherford, I see Pittsburgh losing to Wisconsin, and I can definitely see Manhattan beating Wake Forest. In Atlanta, I think North Carolina will beat Texas. Other than those three games, I think it's going to be pretty clean until the sweet sixteen.. then things get ugly.

Yes, the games have already started, but be honest and say who you thought when the day began.

Really the only upset I called was UNC over texas, but it's possible that (aside from Gonzaga, if they keep playing like they are - 15 back at the half) St. Joes will be another one to fall today. If there are any crazy upsets that no one sees coming, I think this one will be it. Except...I guess I see it coming. Oh well.

Also, none of my sweet 16 teams have lost yet. Woo!

Edit
Holy crap. Could I have been more wrong? There were only 3 teams that WEREN'T upset, and two of them I called upset against. What a horrible day. Ah well, Duke's still poised to win it all. And then I will win. And all of you will lose.

Stanford. WTF were you thinking when you decided to go ahead and lose. North Carolina, same goes to you. I predicted the Gonzaga loss, just with the wrong team. Everything else went smooth. Now then, tomorrow:

Wisconsin over Pitt (gotta go home state)
and
Illinois over Cincinatti (gotta go my 5 minute walk across the border state)

All my others are High Seed.

Yeah, there seems to be a need to make up for the lack of first-round upsets in the second round. Lot of people got crazy messed up yesterday and today. For me, today totally makes up for yesterday as Miss. State, Kentucky, and Wisconsin all lost, and also Tech won. Boo yah. Once UConn loses to Duke in the Final Four, I'll be home free.

I do hate Phoenix, though. I'll go ahead and put that out there.
