Well Gee-Wilickers. You're both right. Actually I was looking for Charcoal, but they're the same thing! Fadien, your turn.

This one is easy enought.
As I was going to St. Ives I met a man with seven wives, each wife had seven sacks, each sack had seven cats, each cat had seven kittens. Kittens, Cats, Sacks, Wives, how many things were going to St. Ives? -------------------- "And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped” -Sir Bedevere the Wise |

This thread has gone a bit wild recently. Let me remind everyone that in order to keep it sane, questions can be asked ONLY by the person who got the last one right unless that person specifically passed on the right.
If you are answering a question, you can't ask your own until you are confirmed right. This will keep the thread readable and keep my annoyance to a minimum. And also keep in mind that you can't answer a question if the person asking it got their turn by answering one of YOUR questions. Thus, the question is up for grabs right now. Art Conn, Gloria Goody, and Dr. Prod were staying at the Soul-Ace Hotel on the Isle of Begile, where the natives always lie and the visitors always tell the truth. While sitting on one of the hotel's balocnies overlooking the crashing waves of Perjurers' Cove, Gloria turned to Art and said, "Art, I think you're a liar." Art looked into Gloria's eyes and replied, "Me? I don't think so. It's Dr. Prod here who's the liar." Dr. Prod, not being one to take accusations lightly, interjected, "As far as I'm concerend, you're both liars!" And with that Prod stomped off in a huff.
Since two of the three are lying, who is telling the truth? |

Since there's nothing to lead you to believe that any of them are natives, they must all be telling the truth. Which in case means they are all liars as well. The label "liar" doesn't necessarily have to mean that they're lyING.

At the bottom of the riddle, it does specifically state that two of the three really are lying, so your answer is wrong.

Gloria is telling the truth. Thinking someone is a liar is different than knowing someone is a liar. Gloria says that she THINKS Art is a liar. Art says he doesn't THINK so. Dr. Prod says that he THINKS they are both liars. They are all technically telling the truth, but something tells me *CONN* and *PROD* are lieing.
Edit Now that I read it, it doesn't quite make sense. I just cant type out how I got my answer This post has been edited by @Ss@Ss!N on 25th January 2004 23:07 -------------------- "The Hero I am not. I can do naught." Respect Frog... |

Eh, you guys are getting caught up in the semantics of the riddle. That works in others, but not this one. Lets look at the heart of it.
Gloria says that Art is lying. Art says that he is not lying and that Dr. Prod is lying. Dr. Prod says Gloria and Art are both lying. Two of the three are lying, and one is telling the truth. |

I belive Art is the truthful one.
Gloria says Art is lying. Now, if she's not telling the truth, that means Art would be the truthfull one. Art says he is not the liar, and that Dr Prod is lying. Now, if that's true, then he would NOT be the liar, and Dr Prod would be a liar. Dr. Prod says they are both lying. Gloria may be a liar, but if Art wasn't, it would make is statement a lie. If either of the others were telling the Truth, it wouldn't work. Cause if Gloria was the truth teller, then Art's statement about Dr Prod would be true, and if Dr Prod were the truth teller, that would make Gloria's statement about Art true. You are correct, Faiden. Art is the truthful one.
It cannot be Dr. Prod, because Dr. Prod claims that both Art and Gloria are lying. If Gloria was lying about Art being a liar would mean that Art would be telling the truth, which cannot be because there is only one truth-teller. |

What do these words have in common: age, blame, curb, dance, evidence, fence, gleam, harm, interest, jam, kiss, latch, motion, nest, order, part, quiz, rest, signal, trust, use, view, witness, x-ray, yield, zone?

Quote (@Ss@Ss!N @ 25th January 2004 20:22) Alphabetical order. Yea, but the order doesn't matter. It could be reversed, scrambled, or what not, and it wouldn't matter. Quote (Hanyou @ 26th January 2004 14:38) They are all verbs and nouns? Yup, every one of them can be used as a verb or a noun. You're up Hanyou Edit: I am aware that some of them don't seem like they are verbs, but I made sure to check them on Dictionary.com. Feel free to check them out. This is a most unusual paragraph. How quickly can you find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so ordinary you'd think nothing was wrong with it - and in fact, nothing is wrong with it. It is unusual though. Why? Study it, think about it, and you may find out. Try to do it without coaching. If you work at it for a bit it will dawn on you. So jump to it and try your skill at figuring it out. Good luck - don't blow your cool!

God/religion? Blinds you, as in blind faith. Food, as in it fuels you to live. Light, as it guides you to spread goodness. Death, as god decides your death. Life, as god creates all things. Omnipresent, yet it seems he is never around. Kind of a stretch I guess.

You're monkeying with the fuse box in the basement. There are three switches that are wired to three lights upstairs. How can you figure out the relationship between each switch and its light while making only one trip from the basement to the room?
In other words, you need to figure out which switch corresponds to which light, and you only get one chance to see what's going on upstairs. And you can't see the lights from the basement, because a creepy gust of wind blew the door shut. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing?
