If anyone is like me then they like a bit of overkill:
Using the FFVI Rom-Editor I have created some stupidly powerful Weapons and Armour, here are just a couple: Masamune: Randomly casts Ultima and Slices Enemies like Odin. Has attack power of 255 and hit rate of 100%, has all the status up effects and makes user immune to absolutley everything. It also hits 4 times and everyone can equip it. Dragon Plate: Has Defence of 255, Absorbs all elemental attacks, Casts image and teaches wearer Meltdown (Merton). It maybe cheating but it sure makes you laugh when you equip them early on and you kill Whelk with one hit! If anyone can beat these then step up to the plate! ![]() -------------------- Chrono Triggers rock super-group: Ozzie - lead singer from Black Sabbath Flea - Bassist from Red Hot Chilli Peppers Slash - Guitarist from Guns 'n' Roses He drinks and smokes his cares away His heart is in the lonely way Living in the ruins Of a castle built on sand... So how do you get these ROM editors, anyway?
I've always wanted to create some hacks but don't know how to start. Is this something that requires the SNES console, or can you do it 100% from your PC? Also, is there a URL to download the editor? Can the edited ROM files be played on the SNES9X emulator? You're obviously knowledgable on this topic, I would like to learn more. Thanks! -- amosender |

Great news for you Amosender!
All you need can be foud on this very website! Ill give you the shortcut: http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff6/downloads/ You will need to un-zip all the files downloaded (The final fantasy VI editor should have an Ultros Icon!) Unzip the final fantasy VI rom itself and drag the Final Fantasy VI.fig file onto the FFVI Editor and edit away! Much of this shoud be explained in the download section anyway. I must admit I am not a wizz with this type of thing but I found it quite an easy process to carry out. (ps: you can use this on your Snes9x Emulator but the ZSNES emulator in my opinion is better!) -------------------- Chrono Triggers rock super-group: Ozzie - lead singer from Black Sabbath Flea - Bassist from Red Hot Chilli Peppers Slash - Guitarist from Guns 'n' Roses He drinks and smokes his cares away His heart is in the lonely way Living in the ruins Of a castle built on sand... Well, I haven't actually made a ridiculous magic spell with these editors, but I DID make the game (well, part of it) to fit my cheatin' self. I made all the characters start off with awesome relics, armor, weapos, and stats, and I made all the characters to start out with 255 stats on everything. Pretty cool, until I arrived in South Figaro with Locke's scenario, and...
read this if you've beaten Locke's scenario in the WoB: Possible spoilers: highlight to view ...he has to steal the merchant's clothes, but I had put his starting ability as "capture" instead of "steal", so he would keep killing the merchant instead of getting his garments ![]() Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I ubered their a starting abilities, too. I gave them all X-Magic, for one thing. (for those that don't know, X-Magic is Magic cast four times instead of one) I'm a Treasure Hunter ![]() -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. Bah, the game is easy enough already. Editors should be used for making the game harder, not easier. But if you enjoy making the game insanely easy then enjoy.

Did you know it is possible to get Gogo in WOB?!
All you need to do is use the FFVI editor to change the monsters you face randomly. You need to put the Zone Eater in a formation and let it 'Engulf' you as you would normally to get into Gogo's lair. Make your way through the lair as usual and pick him up at the end. When you have done this, use a 'warp stone' or the spell warp to get back out of the cave. Also, do not use the light at the begining of the lair to get back out as this will transport you to the triangle island in the WOR!! (this is cool in itself but you will not be able to go anywhere as you do not have an Airship) You can probably get Gogo as early as the part where you enter Narshe for the first time, if you know what you are doing of course!. I got him before you go to Figaro Castle to meet Edgar. Im not too sure if this will crash the game later on but it seems to work fine so far as Gogo is not involved in any of the story in the game as heis just an optional character. Im also pretty sure that someone would have discovered this before me anyway and I will be told of for repeating information! -------------------- Chrono Triggers rock super-group: Ozzie - lead singer from Black Sabbath Flea - Bassist from Red Hot Chilli Peppers Slash - Guitarist from Guns 'n' Roses He drinks and smokes his cares away His heart is in the lonely way Living in the ruins Of a castle built on sand... Since I don't have to start over every time I change something. I use the editor. Fight a boss (with tremendously increased HP, and other stats...and items) out there in fields ![]() I guess Items are may favorite part. I didn't make super cheap items, but more varying items. Most piece of my shields gives you elemental resist/block/absorb although there are more items with negative effects... and My Guardian is real weak, but uses x-attack automatically. Two daggers can be used with gengi glove (only daggers). My favorite part is learning spells from items so it doesn't bore you before you get the espers. Possible spoilers: highlight to view BTW, i believe X-magic lets you cast spells twice, not four times O.o Speaking of Locke's requirements to steal. There are other stuff you have to consider. 1. If you have X-magic. You cannot learn spells from esper. (i'm not sure about items)nor summon. 2. Sabin must (or does he?) have to have blitz...unless you wanna kill Vargas physically 3. Either Sabin or Cyan must have "item" command. If you don't, you cannot get Gau...and you'll be stuck in Veldt! -------------------- I will be there... |

Yeah, I left the "Item" command on everybody except one, maybe it was Terra. I put "Shock" on her, which really helps in the beginning of the game.
Sorry about the X-magic thing. X-FIGHT is four times. X-Magic is just twice. Still helps. I left most of their original special commands on there. Still backfired on me, tho ![]() Thanks for pointing these out, Bismark. It helps. This post has been edited by Figaro on 2nd January 2004 01:24 -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. It's funny that this topic would come up, because I recently finished my personal hardtype hack, making the game much different. I think I left some monster formation problems in, I'll have to fix those later. Anyway, I enjoyed testing this out and fooling with all of the items, mostly the weapons, which are almost all powered down. I think I may have made the game too hard, but hey, its all a surprise. My Ultima Weapon hack does the complete opposite, by adding what I call "Ultima Gear", which is a set of extremely, almost ungodly powerful equipment, made to match the super cool and malicious monster called Ultima Weapon. I just like sayiing (and typing) Ultima, so uhh...yeah...try it out.
My Page One really fun thing to do with the items is to change who can equip them, to make everyone match their "job" more appropriately. Wow, all this talk of FF3 is making me want to go home and start toying around with it again. I might even update the site soon.... Peace out Homiez.
