Donnie Darko, who's seen it? I just watched this movie recently and holy @%&^ it was good. I haven't seen a movie in a while that made me think as much as this one did. For those who don't know the movie is set in 1988, and it's about a teen(Jake Gyllenhaal) who keeps seeing things. One of which is a 6ft tall demonic bunny that tells him to do bad things. It sounds weird I know, and the first time I watched it it was one of those "What the hell?!" movies. After the second and third viewing I really started to grasp what was going on, and I love it more. Check it out, seriously.

When I saw it I thought it was pretty good, though I don't love it. There are a lot of good things about the movie, but it just doesn't have a huge effect on me. As for the "weird" aspect, I think that my mind might be so weird that the movie seems ordinary to me wacko.gif .

Any way you cut it, Donnie Darko is better than at least 80% of the movies that make all of the money in theaters, so I say "Sure, it's good. Go ahead and see it."

i first heard about it from someone in my Cinematography class last year, and that was right around the time i started enjoying more artsy fartsy films rather then huge blockbusters. Donnie Darko is an awsome, yet slightly disturbing movie. all in all i loved it.

Well I thought it was quite entertaining. It was a movie that held my attention for more than 30 minutes so I gotta admit it's entertainment value.

I really liked Donnie Darko. I've only seen it once so far, but I plan on seeing it again at some point.

I think the whole movie is really open to interpretation. Donnie as Jesus is...possible, I guess, but really I saw Donnie as being the only person in the world who could really see (which was brought to light more when he could see a person's destiny, and no one else could), but he's punished for this by being looked upon as a freak. The other people who could really see, like the old woman, were shunned and eventually went a bit odd.

As for the rabbit...well, I'm not sure what exactly he means yet, but I don't think he's really Satan. I think it's something more complex then that, the whole Jesus/Satan thing just seems way too black and white.

was a meesenger from god, helping guide Donnie to show what his life would have been like had he not left his room when the plane engine fell in his room.

As you said Elena, this movie is wide open for personal interpretation. I think I am going to watch it again today with the writer/director commentary on, hopefully that will shed some more light on it.

it's not open to interpretation like that though. the people who wrote and produced it said that what i said earlier was what the movie is about. it's a modern day revision of it.

sorry, i didn't know about the spoiler button thinger, i haven't been in here in 6 years. much love neal.

It's not one of my favorites, but it is quite hilarious. I love the part when Donnie is arguing with the teacher about how there are more emotions than love and fear. I also love some of the characters - the Dad does a great job as does the churchy woman who tries to defend Patrick Suazee (sp?). A little too weird for my tastes, but interesting and funny nonetheless.
