Who else is anticipating this one? After the dissapointements of Matrix: Reloaded and Revolutions [but we'll say no more about them] its time for a greta movie to finish the year off!

Personally, i feel that the battles that were dull in the book will natrually kick donkey .

Whats everyone elses veiws on this, and the whole Trilogy?

I've allready bought tickets for the first saturday after the realese (i'm too busy to go during the week) and i can't freekin wait! Its goona be amazing... So far the whole trilogy has been amazingly well done. I've always enjoyed the books more, but thats becuase i had certain perceptions of how the characters should look, and they don't match the movie depictions at all. In any form though, the LOTR series rules the fantasy relm!

I am eagerly awaiting next Wednesday when it comes out. I've been watchin the LotR movies the past week now, and have seen the trailer and special clips on many occasions for the third movie.

The LotR series is the first time in a long time that I've been so anxious for a movie to come out.

Being the rabid Tolkienian that I am, I'm obligated to see RotK on opening day. Though I have had a few minor gripes in terms of canonical accuracy, I must say that on a whole Jackson and his team have done a great job with the trilogy. The scenic feel of the movies is grand, and the epic fantasy action of the sweeping battle sequences propel the series to my all-time favorites list.

I wonder sometimes how they'll manage to fit all of the material into the last movie, but if prior efforts are any indication, they'll do a fine job of it.

I'm looking forward to the movie too, even though I know it won't live up to the book (which made me absolutely bawl). The biggest, biggest complaint I have with The Return of the King, though is : Liv Tyler comes back. I KNOW Arwen is in the third book, but I liked book-Arwen and I cannot stand movie-Arwen. More pointless Liv Tyler time = less Eowyn time because God forbid there be two female leads.

That's my only (big) gripe. Here's crossed fingers for opening day tickets.

Well, considering that I've read every TOlkein book (even Gawain and the Green Knight) over a dozen times, I'm pretty damn excited.

Even though I didn't like the Twin Towers not nearly as much as the Fellowship of the Ring, I can't wait to see th Return of the King. I've seen previews of it and it looks awsome. All of its movie trailers show some sort of huge battle, bigger than the battle for helms deep. Yeah, it's going to be awsome.

I'll probably be going a couple of days after opening, to beat the crowds.

I'm really looking forward to it too, though I'm not expecting Jackson to include everything that is in the actual final book in this final movie.

Also, from seeing a preview, I'm partially relieved to

know that Arwen is in the third movie. Like Hsiu, I don't really love movie-Arwen, but she's SUPPOSED to be there.

The second movie was really vague about what happened to Arwen, and I was worried that Jackson had sent her off to the Grey Havens before her time, despite that she's needed in the last book.

Lord of the Rings rocks! I can't wait to see the third one, either. I wanna see Shelob! Was anyone else disappointed by the lack of her at the end of the 2nd movie? I mean, that's like, the whole end sequence in the 2nd book, for cryin' out loud! I was afraid we were never gonna see her. Oh well, we are going to now!

Having just returned from seeing it, I can assure you that you will not be dissapointed.

It completely blows Fellowship and Towers out of the water. The special effects are mindblowing, the scenery is fantastic, the story holds strong (I actually found my pulse quickening in parts).

Even if you thought that first two were just mediocre (though I dont see how...) I highly recommend seeing it.

I finally saw it on opening day, and I have to say that it rocks. It took all of my apprehensions and blew them away. Return of the King is 3 hours and 20 minutes of pure cinematic brilliance, and finishes off what is arguably my favorite movie trilogy of all time.

They had to leave out a few things, sure, but they made up for it with everything that was there. The result is mind-blowing. I urge everyone who is physically capable of watching this movie to go out and watch it immediately. It's that good.

Damn straight Super Moogle! I saw it at one minute after midnight on Tuesday night, and Del's prediction is right. The battle in front of Minas Tirith was more impressive in the movie than in the book (in my opinion).

Plus, they added in the background about Smeagol and Deagol that was supposed to be in the first movie. Multiple times throughout the movie, the entire theater burst into applause and cheers. I'd never been to a film that evoked that strong of a reaction from the audience. Return of the King kicked complete ass.

Overall reaction on the trilogy: no Tom Bombadil but...... by now I've stopped complaining, seeing as this has turned out to be one of the most amazing accomplishments in all of film history. thumbup.gif

It was awesome. So cool. The best part was when

gondor was being attacked and over run, and then rohan shows up with a HUGE army and blows that viking horn. so cool.

Aragon is the man. I don't know how anyone could not like him. I mean, he's the King! And...he's returning!

My only gripe is how it seems to end about 5 times only to be dragged on. I think the last 20 minutes could've been put into 5. I like funniest mention goes to a guy in the audience who after it ends for the 4th time and comes back, he says "Yup, there's more!" It was so packed and oversold on ticket that my friend had to sit next to me in the aisle for 3 and a half hous, while all my other friends had to sit in random spots around the theatre.

And yeah, I'm not sure if it was because of how awesome it was, or just because it was FINALLY over, but the audience erupted in applause. You just don't get something like that at regular movies.

I saw the movie last night, nobody clapped I was sad/pissed. At the end of the movie one guy started to clap, and I did , but nobody else was clapping so I felt awkward wacko.gif

That aside it was a great movie, every little detail. happy.gif

i just saw it for the second time last night, and after seeing it twice, i think i have a much better idea of which parts of the movie i *did* like, and which parts i *didn't.*

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
gandalf and aragorn stole the show. there is no question about it. although i don't know their actors' names (sadly, i only know wood and almost-too-pretty-to-be-a-guy jones; almost all of the actors did an excellent job and deserve name recognition). two thumbs up for the battle of minas tirith/pelennor field. it is the most well-done large-scale battle in any movie, ever. now for the negatives: i hate to be nitpicky, but i think it would have been cooler (especially for those who had never read the book) if they had prceeded with the whole dernhelm thing, because then people would have been like, "holy sh*t" when she took off her helm...not that it detracts from the movie. a thing that DID detract: the over-heroization of sam. what the hell, was sam's actor the director's son, or something? they painted frodo in a bad light and tried to make the audience pity sam/feel for him. i don't know what the purpose of that was, but it took a lot of the light off the fact that frodo was making a *great* sacrifice and had a *great* personal burden in carrying the ring. the ending seemed to be kind of drawn-out for not including some important/cool things (e.g., gandalf holding narya all these years), but really the only thing that i didn't like was the painting of frodo as untrusting and disloyal and the contrast of sam as a pure, perfect light in the darkness. this, to me, took the focus off of the fact that the *ring* was the evil entity and it made frodo see, hear, and think things that he otherwise would not have. oh well. chalk it up to hollywood, i guess (like the aladdin-esque escape from mt doom).

Easily the best movie that I have ever seen. The only complaint that I can possibly think of is

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
The lack of Saruman in the movie. It knida felt like there was never any closure to his story. They could at least have shown Gandalf breaking his wand.
