Name 8 songs in the game (non-streamed) that cannot be heard in a normal playthrough. That means they are unknown.

Since no one asked any question in 16 days, I came out with one.
Easy one, Which rank and in which group (name it) was Delita before Goltana offered to give him the place of Cidolfas as the Leader of the Nanten Knights? Also, which status did Delita acquire at that time? -------------------- Sayonara |

He was the leader of the Black Sheep Knights. When he succeeded Orlandu as the leader of the Nanten Knights, he was promoted to the rank of Holy Knight.

The game never tells that Delita becomes the leader of the Black Sheep Knights, it says that he was to be promoted from second to leader, but I don't remember any other information about it.
So maybe he became the leader of the Black Sheep Knights, then became the leader of the Nanten Knights, or he quit the Black Sheep Knights to become the leader of the Nanten Knights... I don't know so I'll let you have it. -------------------- Sayonara |

To clarify, and I could be wrong, but the original leader of the Black Sheep Knights, Baron Grims, was killed and for bringin' Ovelia safely to Goltana, he was promoted to lead the Black Sheep Knights, then was promoted to lead the Nanten.
As for a question... hmmm.... rather easy: What are the Dark Sword action abilities for the Dark Knight class? -------------------- "Thought I was dead, eh? Not until I fulfill my dream!" Name the items found that can only be found by using "Move-Find Item" (not including the Deep Dungeon items) and where they are found?

I'm pretty sure the only item like this outside of the Deep Dungeon is the Vanish Mantle. Everything else can either be stolen or bought from a shop. Hell, the Vanish Mantle might also be stealable, but I've never seen it before.

Oh shazbot, Escutcheon II and Javelin II are also in that category. Again, I don't think you can steal either of them.
Edit OK, Goz beat me to posting about the EII a minute before me, and I'm willing to believe he's right on the Javelin II bit. He wins. This post has been edited by laszlow on 16th February 2006 06:27 -------------------- |

Yeah, Javelin (II)s aren't one-of-a-kind. As far as I can think back, the Vanish Mantle and Escutcheon (II) are the only non-Deep-Dungeon unique Move-Find items. If Deep Dungeon doesn't count at all, you could add the Materia Blade in there, too, but that falls under the same category as the Javelin (II), sort of.

at any rate, i'll take it if there are no objections.
in the names of the katana and the ninja blades, several historically accurate weapon/person/clan names can be found. (1) name all of the historical allusions to be found in these weapons' names. (2) *bonus* - what's so bizarre about the strongest weapons in each category (or, rather, which weapon in each category would we expect to be the strongest)? edit: since these are kind of hard, i'll take either answer (1) or (2) to get the question. it's not like a bonus is particularly utile to this type of thing, anyway...but if you want to do (2), you still have to answer it for both categories. I have no objections, but I will say that I am surprised nobody that the Materia Blade can only be found at Bervenia Volcano, unless it can't be found if you don't find/get Cloud. As for Gozaru's question...
I know the Excalibur goes to Arthurian legend, the Masamune has historical ties (Japanese?) and not sure about others. In most FF games the Masamune or Excalibur are the strongest weapons, but in FFIX and here the Ragnarok is stronger than the Excalibur. That's all I got. -------------------- "Thought I was dead, eh? All I know is that Masamune was a rather famous (understatement perhaps?) sword maker and Iga and Koga were ninja clans.
Quote I know the Excalibur goes to Arthurian legend True that, but... Quote (gozaru~) in the names of the katana and the ninja blades At any rate, that's all I can think of off the type of my head. -------------------- |

well, the allotted time has passed, so i'll solve the question. it's really a shame no one tried to answer this; it's a great question. i would have accepted google replies because it's kind of esoteric information -- i just wanted people to try to make the connections between the history and the sames of the blades.
(1) for ninjatou, there are only 3 names which tie to history. they are, as galsic siad, iga and koga knives, names after the two most famous and most romanticised ninja clans of japanese history (the school of koga survives today), and sasuke's knife, named after sarutobi sasuke, one of the retainers of the infamous sanada "yukimura" and perhaps the most famous ninja name outside of hattori hanzou. for katana, there are many, many more historically-drawn names. i'll go alphebetically (cuz that's how con's are listed): -asura knife: asura (or asyura) are the malevolent demigods of buddhism who populate the fourth level of existence. -bizen boat: reference to a very famous line of swords crafted by the master swordsmith osafune kagemitu. bizen is also the name of the province in which he lived. -murasame: a powerful sword from the famous 18th century japanese classic nansou satomi hakkenden. -heaven's cloud: this one would have been really hard not having played the game in japanese nor being familiar with japanese myhtology; the sword is "ame no murakumo" (lit, heaven's gathering clouds) -- which is one of japan's 3 sacred treasures handed down thru the imperial family. there's a big myth behind it which i will not go into here; it's also known as the kusanagi. anyway, it was the sword of the most revered shintou goddess, ameterasu-oumikami. -kiyomori: names after taira no kiyomori, a famous 12th century japanese general who succeeded in establishing the first samurai-dominated government in japan upon defeat of minamoto no yositomo in the heizi rebellion. -muramasa: the "evil" sword from the muramasa/masamune legend. names after a famous swordsmith who in the legend was the student of masamune, but actually lived several centuries after him. -masamune: names after a 14th century master swordsmith who is probably the most famous katana maker of all time. (2) well, i sort of messed up. for some reason, i had thought that the iga knife was actually stronger than the koga knife, but they have the same attack power. at any rate, we still find that the iga blade is the better of the two strongest ninjatou, as it has 5 more evasion points. at any rate the iga and koga clans were always in a bitter rivalry with one another, and in fact it is the koga clan which managed to survive to this day, so one might expect that the koga knife be the better of the two. furthermore -- this would only apply if the iga blade were more powerful -- the koga clan, as legend goes, were better in combat than the iga clan. however, the iga clan were legendarily more proficient in the arts of stealth and hiding themselves (so i guess that's wehre the better evasion comes in). we would really expect that the heaven's cloud, of amenomurakumo, be the strongest of the katana. after all, it is a sword of the gods and was once wielded by the msot revered goddess in the entire shinto pantheon. at any rate, both of these are rather subjective, and i guess square's chirijiraden ("out of the dust of the earth comes the sword adorned of mother-of-pearl") could conceivably be the strongest, since they made it up anyway. really i was just looking at the iga/koga relationship and the status of kusanagi...i don't suppose it was a very good question. if you had made a good case for, say, masamune, even, or sasuke's kinfe, i probably would have taken it. up for grabs, then -- i'd really like give it to galsic for coming "closest;" he was the only one who actually made an honourable attempt (and answered correctly, to boot), but really i don't think enough of the question edit: uh, the last aprt was chopped off? "...the question was asnwered to merit giving it to him." This post has been edited by gozaru~ on 20th February 2006 07:38 |
