Seifer. I don't know why, but his gunblade was so much cooler than Squall's. Probably how he held it.

Also, I really liked Laguna, Kiros, and Ward. For some reason, their scenarios were really appealing to me. It was probably because they had the coolest music in the game as their battle music, IMO.

Yeah same here. I don't know why so many people hated their side story. I thought it was pretty intriguing going to some place that you'd just been to in the dream world. It was cool trying to figure out who and what they were and all. I'd always search the town thinking they must be there somewhere.

I don't care what anyone has to say about 8. I liked it. It was certainly a million times better than 9.

yeah seifers battle stance was a lot cooler than squalls.

but squall is still my favorite character in the game. he's quiet, you dont need people running around and not shutting up. squall rocks.

if i were to choose one it would be zell he's loud, abnoxios, ready for most situations, and wields the best ability/limit in the game the wonderful blitz, which i believe started in 6, continued onto 7, and that this is the last final fantasy i've seen with this ability, and so overall zell rocks.

I never really did like ffviii because I didn't like many of the characters. But I really liked Laguna and his party, Ward and Kiros. That soon became the reason why I played the game. They were my favorite characters and I got sad when I had to go back to Squall and his party sad.gif . Oh well, at least I got to play Zell then.

The characters weren't especially appealing because the story writers tried to center the entire thing around Squall+Rinoa, which caused all the surrounding characters suffer.
I kinda liked Squall, but you got too close a look at his mind user posted image
Quistis was kinda OK.
Laguna's group was cool. Being in the past helped prevent being majorly over-shadowed by the Squall+Rinoa thing.

Quistis was kinda OK.

To me, after the whole "I got the hots for my best student Squall" thing, they just gave up and developing her character any further. Maybe I'm forgetting some big plot element, but I dunno...

Reguarding Selphie, I absolutely hated her. Even her nunchakus or whatever couldn't save her, which were my favorite back in the TMNT days. I liked Yuffie and Rikku though. Eiko however, also gets the boo.

hey this is a tough call because i hardly ever liked any of the cast of VIII since they were all so annoying, but if you get past that they are all ok so it is a tough decision but my vote still; goes to zell, good luck to you all with your decision on this matter

How could you hate "Spunky little Sephie" ?! mad.gif Just kidding, but I did like her quite a bit more than Rikku and Yuffie (although I agree I didn't like Eiko either)

Anyway my favorite character, by far, was Squall. He had a badass Gunblade, badass bomber jacket, badass necklace, badass...and on and on until you get down to his badass final limit break, Lionheart, which easily was the most powerful final attack of ANY Final Fantasy game...until FFX came along. (For more information regarding that, check up on DP's extensive if somewhat biased theory concerning inflation in Final Fantasy games biggrin.gif )

My favorite character in FFVIII was Irvine. I liked because, as a playable character he was very usefull, his limit was awsome. And as a character he tried real hard to be a loner and what not, but in reality he was just looking for some attention. I liked that because i did that once. I tried to be all depressed, but then i realised people like you more when your happy and spunky and all. I think irvine and myself went through a very similar transformation. Thats why i liked irvine.

Ooh. It's hard to choose. I love Zell, Irvine, Laguna, and Kiros; those are my four biggies. Let me think...okay, in ascending order, here's the list:

14. Cid
13. Quistis
12. Raijin
11. Ward
10. Rinoa
9. Fujin
8. Seifer
7. Squall
6. Selphie
5. Edea
4. Kiros
3. Irvine
2. Laguna
1. Zell

Yay Zell! What can I say, I guess I just like the really enthusiastic characters. I think that's why I love Wakka, too. Those boys are happy to be breathing. smile.gif

14. Cid

Your absolutely right Syndarr. I hated Cid in FF8. I always held Cid high. In ff4, he should have been killed four times, but lived each one. Even after having a bomb explode on him. In ff6, Cid was a cool guy. At the meeting with Getashl, he said that he considered himself a returner. In FF7, I don't think I have to explain thumbup.gif . But then we get to ff8. Cid was just an old fat guy who stayed away from all the fighting. Boo. I think he has to be the worse ff8 character of all.

Man...I'm having a problem deciding between Laguna and Zell.

Watching Laguna always try with the girl, and screw up made me laugh...but he got the girl so that lowered the comedic value of it all.

I think its going to be Zell, his attemps to get that hot dog always made me laugh, and his scenes with Seifer were always a blast.

So my favorite in FF8 would have to be Zell.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate Cid in FFVIII, but it's certainly true that he's pretty pathetic compared to his predecessors. I mean, come on. From VII's Cid, the scruffy, swaggering, swearing, smoking, spear-wielding space-pilot S.O.B, to...this guy? This middle-aged milquetoast? (Apparently I'm in "alliteration" mode today...) But at least he made his contribution to the plot. He did found Balamb Garden, after all. He's not as bad as FFVI's Cid. I just didn't like him at all. He appeared too late in the game to make an impact, and the only useful thing he ever did was get Celes off the Solitary Island. I could never really bring myself to believe that Celes had the relationship with him that she did. I think Cid deserves more character development than that when this is the fifth game in which he appears. It's like they threw him in as an afterthought. But I digress...
