Soon, its my birthday. And since FF X-2 has had less information about a release date than Harold Shipman, i was wanting to get an RPG to pass the time untill 2005...
But is it worth it? my freind who has it says he liked it, but hes unsure if i would. So, what do you think? If so, should i get a new copy, or a pre-owned? Well, I got the game pre-owned, but thats because I'm poor as hell. I think the game is worth it. There is plenty of stuff in the game to keep you busy. You should have stated what you look for in an RPG, that way people would be able to tell if you would like the game. I listed some stuff about the game below so if you want go ahead and read.
![]() The story is rather simple, nothing incredible. I think the music is also pretty good. Like the 1st Dark Cloud, instead of upgrading your characters you upgrade their weapons. You have to be careful how you upgrade them though. If you choose a wrong path when upgrading the weapon's potential may be cut off, making it not able to become as powerful as it could be. The graphics in the game are pretty good. I like the cell shading. There aren't any spectacular fireworks or anything though. There is a lot of extra crap to do in the game: You can use a camera to take pictures. The pictures can be used to raise your photagraphy level and get items you can't normally get. You can also combine the pictures to make inventions. You can invent a lot of crap in this game. Weapons, clothes, food, items, parts for your robot Steve. Steve is a robot controlled by Max. He is kinda like the heavy hitter. He can take out enemies that are too tough for Monica and Max. You can invent different body parts for him such as Samurai Arms, Propeller Legs, Gatling Gun Arms, and different torso parts too. You can spend your time earning medals by completing certain tasks on dungeon levels. These medals can be used to buy special clothes for your characters. I especially like the the Sexy Panther bikini outfit for Monica. ![]() One way to earn medals is by playing a golf game called 'Spheda'. Playing Spheda also wins you items. Fishing can also win you medals. By fishing you can build up the strength of the rod you are using. When you catch a fish you can do different things with them depending on what inventions you have. If you have a 'Grill' you can cook them, if you have an 'aquarium' you can put them in it and raise them. Later you can enter fishing contests and fish races. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

But i also like violence. lots and lots of violence. Ultraviolence, if you will. Possible spoilers: highlight to view Hang on... bikini?! you jest surley? I thought this was a proper RPG, not DOA Xtrme beach Volleyball RPG... -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

Ja, ees goot.
Like the battle system, graphics, story, and I haven't gotten too far into it. However, I dislike the requirements to get the extra medals, but they don't seem to be a requirement (so far, at least). It was worth the $14.99 I paid for it at least (KB was having a closing sale ![]() |

Well, the bikini outfit isn't REALLY revealing. Its still nice.
I'm not sure what you mean by violence. Every RPG has violence. Even the ones aimed at a younger demographic. This game isn't and RPG it is an adventure game. The fighting system isn't the greatest thing. Its just basically hack, slash, and shoot until the monster is dead, blocking and dodging when you need to. The games greatness isn't found in its battle system. Its in it's exploring all the different things you can do in the game. I already listed a bunch of different crap you can do in the game. Again this isn't an RPG. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

Haha, yeah the Jurak Gun thing is kind of weird. I'm still working on an evolved form of that gun. I think its called the Steal Gun. It takes items from the enemies and I've pumped it up to make it pretty strong.
How are you doing on the medals? I really like getting different clothes for Max and Monica. I really like giving Monica the cat bell and ears. And right now I have Max with the clown hat. Here is a tip. Don't synthezize a weapon unless it is evolved as far as it can go. If you do the synthesis will be crappy. But if you synthesize a weapon that is fully evolved the synth sphere will be a good one containing most of the stats of the weapon. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

Not too well with medals. I cant kill the monsters quick enought and i cant fish to save meself. But i figure i ought to get a few medals by the end of chapter 3, i only have 8-9 right now.
The jurak gun and the grenade launcher are sweet. But im really just out to get the gilda just now. any hints on that? (ive tried to find silver balls and sell them on. Im not progressign in the game till i have 5000 gilda.) -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

Ok, here is a trick that I used early in the game. You can pick a 3rd support person on your team to help you out, right. They do different things depending on who you pick. Well initially I think there are three people that come with you on the train. Cedric and the two railroad worker guys. One is big and has a pick ax (I think), and the other is kind of skinny with red hair and looks like a girl (at least I confused him for one initially).
![]() Well get the guy that looks like a girl in your party. He can make these super bombs that you can sell for like 250 gilda a piece. After you have him in your party have him make the bombs kick him off your party, sell the bombs, then go blow some time. After a little while you can come back and repeat the process. I can't remember how long it takes until he can make bombs again but it isn't too long. I think like a day in game time maybe. Just turn the time to fast in options. Note: if you haven't already you should probably go back to Max's home town. You can get all of his servants to come with you on the train. There are other people in the town to recruit as well, like the bakery lady and the weapon shop woman. There are all sorts of people to recruit. Just talk to everybody and check every house. Also, just a warning, you probably don't want to sell things that are given to you. There is a good chance that it may be a one of a kind item like a piece of clothing. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

I also do not approve of Skimpy outfits axcept for the Magical Kitty Outfit Meow.

I dont know about the rest of you guys but i HATE that game, and i use the word HATE strongly--very strongly, although its better than DC1 its just to much bull you have to do to invent things, and its way to repetitive, even after the FIRST map you just may have play the rest of the game...seriously its all the same--new town/bigger dungeon over and over until you think your at the end and ::FLASH:: another map. BAHHHHH!!! GAHHHHHH!!!
