![]() pretty much self-explanatory. which was the best Final Fantasy game to come out for the Playstation. I'm a big fan of Tactics, so that's my vote. It wasn't a traditional FF game, but it had that FF charm (and job classes and items).

I voted for Final Fantasy Tactics, as well.
Although it may seem that I would be inclined to vote for either the Anthologies or the Chronicles re-releases of my two favorite games of all time (Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, respectively), it just didn't feel right doing it, considering you could play either one on the SNES or an emulator. Final Fantasy Tactics was truly a great game. The gameplay was absolutely superb; the battle system was truly involving, and the Jobs made the possibilities nigh endless. The storytelling was top-notch as well, with unexpected twists and endless betrayal. And even though the character development was impeded by the large amounts of unique and non-unique characters one could recruit into the party, it was balanced out by some truly great character development, particularly for everyone's favorite manipulator, Delita Hyral. In the end, Final Fantasy Tactics just had to get my vote as head and shoulders above the competition. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Mine went to Tactics, it was the only one i would replay, and it also had a unique battle system unlike the others which made it seem like a different type of rpg, and that i liked.

Mine would have went to Tactics, but it's a different kind of game, so I chose FF7. I love FF7 and FFT equally, though.

I vote 7.
FF8 just sucked. After that was done Square decided that the only way to get thier fans back after two <gasp> innovative games (never mind the fact that the second one was completely broken) was to shove thier collective heads completely up our asses, and low and behold, FF9. Both Anthologies and Chronicles are rehashes of SNES games, and shouldn't be on the poll as PS1 games IMO. And Tactics? I played it for 5 minutes before taking it out and replacing it with FF7 ![]() -------------------- "Number One, I order you to go take a number two." |

Yeah, I went for Tactics as well. Seven was great, but I don't think it is better than the ohsogodly Tactics.

Anthologies and Chronicles are just ports, so really they aren't PSX games. FFVII was good and all, but I really think FF Tactics was better. Why? Don't ask stupid questions Jimmy it just is. So my vote goes to Tactics. Kappa

I voted for 7 simply because I loved everything about that game besides Cait Sith and Aeris. I would have voted for Anthologies or Chronicles but I think those games were better on their original system in cartridge form...without loading times. As for tactics, well i've only played it for about 10 minutes, not enough to really judge it. So I'll stick to 7. Notice how I didn't go into 8? That's because I hate it because I find it sucks nuff said about that.

I went for Tactics, since it's my favorite game of all time. I'm playing through for probably the tenth time right now, trying to level up before I go to Finath River. Ramza is level 51, but the enemies at that particular story battle level with you, so they keep dominating me.

I'd either go for 7 or 9, but I can't make up my mind. Both were great. And I love 6 and all, but I don't think it really counts as a PSX game ...
I loved the Tactics battle system, but I was lost on the story. I don't know why, but I could never get characters and places, etc, straight in my mind. And that bugged me. -------------------- "Questions are a burden to others, answers a prison for oneself." |

Tactics hands down was the best on the PSX because it's very different than the rest and change is good
![]() However, I give running up to Chronicles. I never played CT on the SNES but getting the chance too was definately great. AND FFIV on the PSX is WAY better than the SNES version in many aspects other than the fact that it's the hard version. Load times, dialogue, and the like are all better on the PSX In my opinion. But my vote goes for FFT |

*cough*
Load times are NEVER better on the PSX compared to a SNES. It's simple fact that data retrieval out of a cartridge is much faster, it's scientifically indisputable, and my experience backs this up. The only potential exception is cartridge games with heavy graphics compression (e.g. SNES Street Fighter Alpha 2), but, cruddy as it is, I still find it loads faster than the PSX version. But, otherwise, good point that it's the first official Western release of the proper FF4. A better translation (with the possible exception of main dialogue) has been available in ROM form for some time (the one JLo is playing; get it from the FF4 section), but ah well. My vote's gone to FF7. First FF I played, and still my favourite overall. Compensates for occasionally choppy gameplay with a storyline that makes it not matter (not least because you're trying madly to work out what's going on). |

Still knotted up at 9 apiece. Good job all you FF7 voters!
I played FFT once, but got so bored with it after 2 hours that I just gave it back to my friend. I know I'm a hypocrite because I always say you should give a game a chance, so maybe I'll try playing it again sometime. FFIX is my favorite FF, second to IV. I didn't vote for Chronicles because they screwed with it worse than IIus. Besides, the re-releases shouldn't get to count.
IX's Ability system was wonderful and it had a very good story. Also, the Side Quests and Mini Games in this one didn't get as tedious as the other PSX FFs. I voted for FFVII I liked the some of the characters, storyline, sidequests, music, and minigames.
My second vote was FFT I liked it's storyline it was full of suprises..., sidequests there was a lot of them, and I liked it's battle system too. My third would be FFIX I loved the characters, music, battle system, the animation of the locations, and the storyline. I didn't like FFVIII that much...I only like the storyline... -------------------- Auron might be good, but I'm better...=p* My first visits....: *Returning from home-Returner *Trying to find a Cactuar Costume for Halloween-Cactuar *Treasure hunting for more shiny things, & candy-Treasure Hunter Current Location: *Crusading hell, I want to assasinate Satan but don't tell him what my plan is okay....?-Crusader |

I have to go with Final Fantasy Tactics, my personal favorite game of all time.
The ports were much better on their original systems (load time makes me want to melt my own face off) and I was really let down by 8 and 9. Don't get me wrong, 7 is an awesome game and Cloud Strife is one of my favorite characters of all time, but Tactics was a little different with an amazing story and an awesome job system. It's so freakin' engrossing!!!!!!!! I'm playing through for like the 12th time or something insane, and I still love it. |

FFIX all the way. Funny, insightful, storyful, Zidane has to be one of the greatest FF characters and the best FF hero, great music, and the graphics are fairly good.
And FFVII is just way too overrated. -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I miss you all now that I'm in boarding school! ;_; |
