I like to use Sabin with offering/genji glove/tiger fang/dragon claw. I've found that armor and relics tend to matter less when you can kill almost anything with one attack sequence, but it's still good to have ribbon and black belt just in case. Yes, there is the chance he'll do something incredibly stupid...but all my characters have every useless spell, save Umaru, and I've never really leveled him as much as I should have. Yes, he can cast spiraller, but it's a small chance, and if you save between fights, it's not that big of a deal.

Also..maybe this is just my poor memory, but I always remembered the chupon being in the colliseum when a worthless item was on the line. Is it ever really worth it to try to beat that pshycho, aside from wanting to say you could?

I can beat Chupon in the Collusseum with relative ease, with any character. It all depends upon how you set them up. The set ups, of course have already been mentioned: Offering, Genji Glove, etc. At level 99, you can easily kill Chupon with any character with one series of attacks, provided your character "Fights" on the first try.

And as for my Colluseeum Warrior, it just depends upon who my current favorite character is at the time (it changes almost every week lol).

i like using mog. change him into an imp. set him up with a genji glove and ribbon, dual imp halberds, titanium helm, and imp armor. (can also replace genji glove with black belt and and put on pally shield)

I could be wrong, but I recall changing him to an imp being unnecessary, because the equipment works just as well with him as it does on an imp.

Shadow is almost always my Colisseum fighter, because I seem to have the best luck with him for attacks being blocked/missed (at least the last game I played), the Stunner can cast Stop sometimes, and Interceptor often deals a powerful bit of damage.

I use Sabin with the genji glove until he gets spiraler (because every time I use him afterwards, the meathead uses this skill to disasterous effect). After that I use Edgar until I have enough levels to use the Atma Weapon with good effect, when I just use the guy/gal with the most HP (naturally coupled with the Offering).

I use Sabin and Mog, mainly because they're my strongest characters and they kick ass. They're at least 20 levels ahead of everyone else except Gogo who's about the same. cool.gif

I mostly use Sabin after I get him to learn Bum Rush and before Spiraler. blink.gif I would always just stare in disbelief when "Spiraler" would be shown at the top of the screen. Then I say, "Sabin, Spiraler sacrifices yourself to recover other party members' HP, you know, the ones who are not in this battle. Hopefully you will keep this in mind next time..." RESET

i just sent setzer (surprise) into the battle arena to win the illumina from a didalos. i equipped him with a genji glove, the offering, dice and the fixed dice. using this combination, not only did i kill the didalos in my first round, BUT i killed doom gaze in one shot, without him ever running away. and again i confirm that setzer is the greatest character.

ever.

You'd better believe it! Heh, I find myself using setzer with the same exact combination for my bouts in the Coliseum. I agree about Setzer, as he is my favorite playable character in Final Fantasy. tongue.gif Anyone who doubts the undeniable skill, utility, and charm of the mysterious gambler is a fool in my book.

I use Terra because she is one of my strongest characters, she knows every magic spell (exept Merton), and she has 999 MP biggrin.gif

Generally, I favor the relic combination of Marvel Shoes + Atlas Armlet, and the character is equipped with Illumina and the best defensive equipment. Really, it can be any character who can wield a sword, and it's usually Locke or Celes. I use Edgar sometimes also if neither of the other two happen to be in my party, but he has a habit of using dumb stuff like the Debilitator or the Air Anchor, and wasting turns. Locke usually seems to favor just attacking when I use him, which is what I want. Like some other people mentioned, Sabin does some dumb stuff when he's got all of his Blitzes mastered, and even though he's very powerful, and my favorite character in the normal game, he frequently lets me down in the Colosseum. thumbdown.gif

I've got nothing against Setzer...in fact, I'm going to try the aforementioned combination when I get my hands on the fixed dice. However, when it comes to sheer strength, I must stand by Sabin as my favorite. Midway through the game and straight to the end, his claw attacks do obscene amounts of damage, and if you equip him with a Black Belt and Genji Glove, he'll frequently wipe out a lot of the enemies while your other characters are waiting for their turns to come. I sent Sabin in against Didalos in the colosseum, and he emerged victorious in a matter of seconds using nothing but a couple of physical attacks (after the first time, when Didalos did Flare Star right off the bat and killed me instantly). While the Illumina was doing a good 4500 - 5500 damage, Sabin's Dragon Claw was frequently doing upwards of 6000 damage, and that was without any sort of strength boosting relics implemented.

Like I said, I don't dislike Setzer, and I am going to try the setup mentioned before, but I'll still always have a soft spot for the overwhelming brute strength of Sabin. It's too bad he doesn't use it more effectively more often in the colosseum.

So what do you get for beating Chupon. I always assumed it was impossible.

I don't know, because I've never done it myself, but a lot of the resources I've looked at say there are a variety of different things you can get from him, depending on what you wagered initially. I just want to know why he shows up when you bid fairly worthless items, but you get actual enemies when you big the good stuff. Anyway, I had a walkthru that outlined many different items you allegedly got from defeating Chupon, but I don't have it on hand right now. I'd also like to hear from someone who's accomplished this before. Maybe I'll make that my goal before I take on Kefka...laugh.gif

You get an Elixir, which you can turn around and bet for a Rename Card, which you can bet for Marvel Shoes, which is where I stop betting.

And as for who I put into the colliseum, I just choose the current party member capable of doing the most damage. Usually Celes.

Hmm... I usually use Sabin, because he has learned every spell from the Espers that I have, and with the GG/Offering combo, he's almost unstoppable/

Genji Glove + Offring + Illumina + Atma Weapon + Berserk + Level 99 = 99 Elixers.

Basic math, all you have to do is use a valid character.

I thought the Paladin Ring was just a rumor...I sure as heck have never come across one, and it's never been offered as a colosseum award. I detect B.S. in the air... wink.gif

Ok there is a trick... the defense% in the game is basically usless...but the M.Def% is the opposite, 120% is the max, u can go higher, but it wont make any difference, Go to collosium with MOG, give him the snow muffler and gengi helm, equip him with white cape and zephyr cape (they bring M.Def% up high!) and that high of M.Def% makes almost every attack blocked or miss... except for the big ones, like ultima, meteor and 1000 needles

I dont think MGDef is thhat important, the ones it cant block are the only ones i want to block. I liike to use charactrs with little to no spells learned (like umaro) because they have less hance of doing something verry stupid (like spiraler).

Definitively Locke, when he has the Atma Weapon and Valiant Knife equipped with a Gengi Glove and an Offering (and no spells learned), plus 128 speed, he kills everybody in seconds (except if he does Steal).
