I'm not putting this as a poll, because there are too many choices, but basically I'm intruiged to know who you guys think is the best esper (not including half-espers or hidden espers which don't actually exist.)
And also why you like them, so it could be because they look cool or because of the power or because of the spells they give you, or something they say. Mine is Ramuh, because he plays such a big part in Zozo when Terra goes AWOL, plus he looks really cool when you summon him. ![]() -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Well, my two favorites have always been Ragnarok and Bahamut. Rangarok, because he teaches Ultima, and Bahamut because he has a +50 HP at level up characteristic. That helps a lot.

Alexandr--a huge mecha castle that embodies the sacred power. What more can you ask for?
Phoenix--powerful fire attack PLUS Life. Also teaches Life3. The ultimate symbol of endurance. Bahamut--the king/god of the dragons/summoned monsters; has Megaflare, then Gigaflare, then Teraflare. NOTHING tops Bahamut in being the coolest creature ever. Tritoch--an esper frozen in time, a bird with three elements. Is there anything else like this? runners-up: Maduin--lesser than Tritoch, but probably more important to the story, since he's Possible spoilers: highlight to view .Terra's father Ramuh--how come so many old men with long beards and wielding staffs look so cool? Bismarck--lesser than Maduin, but also teaches Life. Great for quick (but not comprehensive) spell-learning, and has a nice water-elemental attack (one of the few water attacks available to your party). Ragnarok--nowhere glorious in its summon move, but the fact that it's form is a sword, and that it teaches ultima, really make it cool. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I like Odin best because it boosts Speed +1, something no other esper does. I really like having groups where everyone has a speed stat of at least 50. It really comes in handy with tough bosses (when they exist).

As far as appearance goes, I would say the following are my favorite espers:
1 - Phoenix (The positioning of the phoenix really makes it stand out) 2 - Starlet (Purely aesthetical... Looks almost as if it were a painting.) 3 - Odin (Come on... Odin is quite the badass) 4 - Bahamut (You don't really need a reason for loving this dragon king.) 5 - Phantom (Looks very menacing.) -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Heh. FFVI has more Summons than you can shake a stick at, and a lot of them are really, really nifty. It's a shame that some of the ones in VI didn't make it into the later games, but eh...what can ya do? Here are my top five:
5. Fenris - Oooh. Sooo pretty. ![]() 4. Alexandr - FFVI is the first game in which Alexander appears, and he's really, really impressive, especially considering the graphical constraints of the SNES. I literally sat open-mouthed the first time I summoned him. Well, it. ![]() 3. Palidor - Ever since FFIIIj, I've had a soft spot in my heart for Dragoons and their Jump ability. It has saved my rear multiple times. Now this game gives me an Esper that will make my entire party into Dragoons for one turn without having to fiddle with equipment and job classes. The party's safe from harm, and does a nice hunk of extra damage on the next round. All that, and Palidor is gorgeous to boot. Lovely plumage!! ![]() 2. Maduin - While I don't really like his Summon effect as much as I like some of the others, Maduin's high position on my list is all about the looks. He's got this wonderful mixture of feral and noble, sort of like a more ethereal version of Ifrit. I can see why Madonna/Madeline/whatever fell for him. I would. ![]() 1. Bahamut - How can I not love Bahamut? A mainstay of the Final Fantasy games, and there is never an incarnation of the Dragon King that does not kick butt, chew gum, take names, and look awesome while doing so. This one is no exception. Bahamut Owns. He uses flare
![]() The bad thing about him in ff6 is that he got splattered out by a WHO-KNOWS-WHAT. This post has been edited by l)arkShadow on 16th February 2004 00:02 |
