I don't typically use spellcasters very much, but I will say that Wizards help out. I never used Summoners much because they're too slow, and Time Mages and Priests lack offensive punch. Oracles, while better in a straight fight than the others, were a little too subtle for my tastes. Wizards, on the other hand, come with a slew of versatile elemental spells, alongside the ever-destructive Flare.
Of course, I would have voted for the Calculator if he had been there, but apparently it wasn't an option. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. I was never into magic much. Y'know "Me like shiny shiny swords!" But I kinda liked the Oracle. Disabing the enemy was kinda of a good idea in the game I thought. Too bad my only magic user was level 15 when everyone else was 40...hmm. I suck at this game.
But the Oracle stood out as a personal favorite. ::braces self for being yelled at:: -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. I'd go for the summoner because of the radius their spells effect and their summons are relativly easy to learn (if you have them do all the jobs)

I picked Wizard for this for one reason. Once you learn the Calculator's math skills, wizard is awesome. You don't have to worry about waiting for the spell to charge and doesn't use any MP. Summoner is great but all the great summons (i.e. Cyclops) take fricken forever to charge and by the time it does all the enemies are not in the place it attacks. Although I have to admit Golem has been a life saver many times, but I still go with Wizard.

Wizard, because a Wizard with another magic skill really ups the power of that particular spell. For example, a Wizard casting Holy does 999 on a regular basis at high levels (or, just stick the Faith Rod on them).

Summons are just so damn fun to watch, have a huge radius, and don't affect people you don't want them to.

My personal choice is the Wizard. They have the most powerful MA strength, and can literally tear apart a battlefield with their offensive (and not all together slow) spells. The Summoner is nice for its large amount of MP and ranged spells, but it's too slow for my tastes. The oracle and the time mage don't do it for me offensively, but of the two I would choose the oracle simply for its ability to use the stick and incredibly annoying status spells. The Priest I enjoy, but due to MA strength I would much rather be a Wizard with White Magic skills. (Of course my favorite combo is simply a Wizard with Math Skill, heh heh heh)

Oracle, IMO pray faith is a godly spell, this guy did it on this one
weak bird thing and it had 3 hp and it took me 4 turns just to kill the stupid thing cause my attacks kept missing. They also had confusion.. and confusion is fun when it works.^_^ and then theres that spell called Mimic daravon, for me it has never missed anyone! Plus theres the equiping of books and sticks which make them the only magic class that has decent attack and ranged attack. -------------------- Why do kamakazi pilots wear helmets? |

Wizards for power, Summoners for uniqueness. Wizards overall, though, for reasons Neal stated.

Priest. The Priest is the base unit for all of the healers. I personally love them for their looks and spells. A Priest can get you out of a tough predicament.

Wizards. I made ramza a wizard with time Magic and teleport. He tears often wins the entire battle before my other characters are within striking distance of the enemy. Definitely wizards, with Time mage being #2, and Preist being #3.

Agreed, Marquis. Equp them with Gained JP Up and you should be OK. It's not until you receive Cure2 and Protect that the Priest class really starts to kick in.

Even though I voted Summoner, it is only because I have experienced their spells through the enemy, and they look really powerful. I'd really have to go with the Priest, Wizard, and Oracle (and Geomancer. If only that counted as a magic class...

I agree with Mellow. Priests can be the decisive factor in a battle. I loved their Holy skill. Many a times the odds have been against me in a battle, but during those same times, my Priest has freed me from the ropes.

I choose Summoner because of the spell radius and the power. The time to cast can be shortened if you constantly use the same character.

Summoner, because the spells are awesome.
Also, I found it easier to aim the spells, because of theire greater radius. Finally, they don't affect the enemy, which makes any other magic annoying to me. Reflect has no effect, right? -------------------- Wind, Time, Life.. All flows on... Don't look back, yo can never look back. |

In my opinion, a priest with black magic support or time magic support is the most useful character in my party. They can cure, protect, and hit REALLY hard. It was my experience that my characters were faster and did more damage as priests than any other class. Has anybody else noticed that? Anyway, short charge + priest + support magic [time or black] + HOLY = ownage. Holy hit way harder than flare on most enemies, and for less mp and a faster cast. Besides that, it had a much better animation. It's the divine shotgun! Heck, I went cure, cure2, holy as my first 3 abilities as priest, giving them throw item/item to use phoenix downs in a pinch. Holy carried me through so many boss fights before they even got to move once I got short charge. LONG LIVE THE OFFENSIVE PRIESTS!
