I was playing FF6 for the 5th time now (trying to see how low my guys could be to beat the game).

I am at the part right after Terra has her dream about the Esper world.
I have never hacked before and I never will. I think this is a real bug. I didn't go to any of the towns except Albrook before I entered the Magitek factory (because there really isn't much except black belt and I didn't want it yet). I took Celes, Locke, Sabin, and Cyan into the factory. When I got Terra after the dream, I went immediately to the Southern Continent and into Miranda. I went to the weapons shop and I found Tintibars, Economizers, and Paladin Shields all being sold for 2gp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I have never heard of this before.
I tried to explain my steps as best as I can. I really didi try to go through the game so far without leveling up or anything.
Also, I changed my normal lineup from having Edgar to having Cyan (I had Celes, Locke, Cyan, Sabin, and Terra as my mains depending on which were available, with Cyan as the left out one).

maybe the rom you downloaded was already hacked. there are rom editors out there to make it pretty easy for those items to be available at any shops.

I have heard that several roms due mess up. I had a friend who had some of his roms skip a lot and the graphics would glitch all the time. He had to get a new emulator to make it work. Other than that, I don't know what could be wrong. Does it only mess up in your newest file?

Yeah, I'm gonna say you should find an old FF3Edit program (look at this thread for it) and use its shop editor to look at the contents of every shop. If you see the same items in there, or see something else that's obviously wrong, then your ROM was hacked. If this really is a glitch, then you got lucky.

I say an old FF3Edit because the newest one is in the alpha stages, as Yousei/Flobby deleted the original and only recently began to rebuild the editor.

I don't have the stuff to check, but I'm starting to think that maybe I did download an already hacked one. I got mine from Nacho and Tortilla's site, which I thought was really good, but I'll have to see.

If it really was hacked, I'm gonna be really mad. I am gonna have to create new save files now.

You can download the correct rom, and then rename your save files to that of the rom file. Then the game will recognize them as valid save files at which point you can continue right where you left off.

i don't think it works with different version does it?

It's possible that you may used cheats on different file on the same computer.
This happened to me, and somehow the game without cheat had half of the cheats duped from the other file with whole lot of weird stuff. I also had "ag" in white letters in the character stats menu ...
If not...maybe you do you have hacked version:p i can send u the ff3 file on aim if you want.

I think it works. Save files don't care what version of the game it is. They only keep track of vital in game information.

ya your rom was probably hacked. I just finished hacking my rom and making it so that when you beat czar dragon you get 65 000 gold and 100 000 exp so if I give this rom to my friends they will have to put up with my tampering.
