My question is simple. Give me all items, relics, weapons, armor, etc. that you can get only one of, under any circumstance (no matter how unlikely or stupid). This is exluding rare items such as 'Cider', and Espers (as they are no actual 'items') of course.

The Sketch bug is obviously prohibited in this scenario.

You don't have to have them at the same time. Paladin Shield and Cursed Shield must both appear in a complete list.

Well, with the stating of the first (and rather obvious) two, I wish you luck in questing for the answer.

And please, let's try to do this one without checking an Item list.

Note: in the original Japanese version, I've heard that there are TWO Valiantknives. As Locke would thus become invincible at a rather low level, they took one out in all versions after that. I don't consider Valiantknife one of the items I'm looking for as this was something Square corrected later.

Rainbow Brush I think. Gem Box for sure. Possibly Drainer. X-Ether's are pretty rare too.

Two are true, two are false.

Trivia note: X-Ether is the only actual Item (as in: Hey, let's use it with the Item command) that you cannot get infinite amounts of.

Well, if I just keep saying which ones are good and which ones are not, it'd be a rather fun-less question. But since I'm the nicest guy since 1567, I'll give you the answer to this question:

Rainbow Brsh: Yes.

Gem Box: Yes.

Drainer: Steal from No. 024, find in chest, Steal from Atma, Steal from Geckorex. Infinite amounts, thus.

X-Ether: Steal from MissileBay, find in pot (Ancient Castle).I'm pretty positive there are three, but I can't remember the third one.

But that's the specific reaction you'll get. It'll be like a twisted version of MasterMind

Hmm..Moogle Charm and Coin Toss...maybe Thief Glove, I can't remember. I think that's it for relics.

Edit: As for weapons, I am almost positive that Striker, Stunner, Cards, Fixed Dice and Metal Knuckle are unique too.

Almost all of Cyan's Knives are unbuyable, as are many dirks such as Imperial, Thief Knife, Assassin and Hardened (sp?). But almost every ninja and samurai monster gives you a dirk/katana when you steal/morph them, and there are too many to remember. Someone else is going to have to figure out that whole mess.

1stclass: Yes, you did. I took all items you mentioned as guesses.

i)arkShadow: No, you can't. The morph pattern of Boxed Set and it's pallete swap Pan Dora will get you 3/4 chance of Tonic and a 1/4 chance of Pod Bracelet. It's a common rumor, and a false one.

KinfofFigaro: Four wrong, three right. I'll explain how to get these four when the answer has been given.

I must stress from now on that we are complete in our answer, meaning that when you give an answer, you mention them ALL, not the ones that are already mentioned. I'd hate for you guys to have discovered them all but never get the correct answer due to incompleteness.

You guys are getting a little close now anyway. Among your guesses, there are quite a few good ones. Four have not been mentioned so far.

Keep in mind that automatic equipment that can never be removed does not count as an item 'held' by you. Leo, for instance, has the Offering equipped: I still take it as a valid answer.

Time for some deduction:
Thief Glove is out thanks to SuperManBoy. Like I said in my oringinal post I'm willing to bet that the last 4 dirks can be stolen/morphed from ninjas/samurais. On that assumption we have exactly one wrong out of Moogle Charm, Coin Toss, Striker, Stunner, Cards, Fixed Dice and Metal Knuckle and either one or two wrong out of Relic Ring, Stunner, Fixed Dice, depending on whether KingofFigaro got 4 wrong or 5 wrong total. So if it was actually 5 wrong total for KingofFigaro then then either Relic Ring+Stunner or Relic Ring+Fixed Dice are wrong, and all the rest unique. If it was actually 4 wrong total for KingofFigaro's guesses then either Stunner is not unique -or- Fixed Dice is not unique -or- Relic Ring is not unique plus something else that isn't named Stunner nor Fixed Dice. I'm 95% sure about Stunner and Fixed Dice being unique, and I'm 75% sure that my assumption about the 4 dirks is correct, so it's probably the case that the Relic Ring is not unique. Phew!

Okay, I want to try to list all the one's we think we have. Djibriel tell me how many of these are correct:

There is one wrong.
There are three that haven't been mentioned.

Explanation on confirmed wrong Dragon Claw:

You can have a maximum amount of two Dragon Claws in a normal game. All you have to do is take out the Presenter shell and the Present head out at the same time. While the death of one will automatically kill the other, this won't get you the item of the other one. The best way to kill both at once is Shoat or X-Zone, or else you're gonna have to use Scan quite a lot. It's debatable if Square intended us to get two Dragon Claws this way, but it can be done and I'm not complaining.
For a similair effect you can win both a Potion and a Tincture from Whelk, but with the shell having 50000 HP and you being level 5 or so, this is a task you only want to complete with an emulator and its sweet fast forward abilities.

Break Blade is one that hasn't been mentoined; dunno about the 1 wrong so far.

I could say that you've got one wrong, but that would be pretty pointless. You can mug some Break Blades of Outsiders (although you probably have better things to do when facing these).

A very good try, but I'm still seeing two items that haven't been mentioned in your post which are unique. And as I stated before, the Offering was in, so that means that the Punisher is too.

Furthermore, I don't spot any wrong ones 'mongst your picks, so everybody can feel free to build on Detah's post.

Both guesses are wrong:

You can get an infinite amount of Czarina Gowns by betting Minerva at the Colloseum.
And you can steal Ashura from Ogor monsters. I seem to recall more sources, but one is more then enough to provide one with all the Ashura Knives one needs.

I must admit that I thought the Coin Toss, Cards and the Metalknuckle would be the ones overlooked, not the remaining two.

Detah pointed out the source for Chainsaws and the BehemothSuits. The reason why any of Shadow's dirks were not correct: You can steal Imperial and Hardened dirks from Woolly, while you can morph Ninja, Covert and Outsider into Assassin and Striker dirks.
