Quote Squenix needs to keep making new games with new storylines and try to best this game, not add on to it. Well 12 is a multiple of 6, so maybe FF12 will be just as good or better than FF6 ![]() -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

Anything about the time after the end of FF6 in the form other than FanFic is pointless to me. But I really want to read some FanFic/Play a Game about the War of Magi.

yeah that would be great.
have you noticed that almost all of the final fantasy games take place after a war of some kind? there could almost be 10 more games by squenix(what a stupid name for a merger. enixsoft woulda been better. but anywho--) JUST to cover the backgrounds from already made games! -------------------- once you can accept yourself, you will never be alone |

in terms of a sequal, we can be pretty sure square will never make one.
but is it possible for someone to hack the rom sufficiently enough to rewrite the plot- in essence, creating a new game from the same engine? my friend said that it would take far too long, and i know nothing about it. |

I don't think it can be done at this time. However in the future it may become an option when better programs become available, and we have a better understanding of how to manipulate the code. A lot of things can be edited right now like world maps, character sprites, menu portraits, monster sprites and monster battle scripts. Four critical things that can't be fully edited at this time are special events, spell animations, music and abilities (tools, rage, etc). In order to create a totally new game, all 3 of these need to be redone completely.
Edit I don't think town maps, cave maps and castle maps can be edited. The interior maps of buildings can't be edited either. Another problem is the creation and deletion of townspeople. I'm sure there are a few more snags too that need to be worked out before an "RPG Maker" using the FF6 engine can be created. It's a cool concept though. I don't know if such a thing would be legal or not. Once it's even possible, it would take a talented team of people to create a quality game, including artists and at least one songwriter. This is the only way it can be done right, or else it'll come off as being some cheesy version of FF6 pretending to be a different game.
