I gotta' say, Zozo is one of my favorite towns in FF6. It's so weird and different, but I love the music to death. Anyhow, I gotta' few questions I've always wondered about this place..

1.) Anyone know why everyone lies?

2.) What's with all the different signs for weapons, relics, chocobos, etc. all over the place?

3.) Who is Dadaluma? What does he do? Anyone know his backstory?

Zozo, what a name.

zozo...the land that law forgot...

zozo always reminded me of being something straight outta the movie "blade runner".

1-its basically just supposed to be a refuge and a home for all the dirtbags, exiles from society and theives, the dishonest folks of the world, thats why everyone's a liar. verys much like the city of mos eisley (sic) on the plantet tattoine.

2-There probably WERE shops at one time, but they all probably got shut down from robberies and murders and things like that, now squatters just live there.

3-I'm pretty sure dadaluma was supposed to be a crime kingpin or a gang leader, thats what i always figured. guess he doesnt really take kindly to you coming and causing trouble in his city.

You're absolutely right, SDM, but I had to simply do a process of elimination game to get the Chain Saw because there was very few hints. Still, I just got to Terra and got my first four Magicites in this new file, and I gotta' say this place is the place to be to get stuff. All I've been doing is stealing Atlas Armlet's from the HadesGigas', and Goggles and DragoonBoots from the Harvesters. Just gotta' keep the Runic equipped for the SlamDancers their Level 2 magic is intense.

Maybe Zozo was a normal town at one time (perhaps with a different name) but things deteriorated and became a place where low class citizens live. Since neighboring Jidoor is such a high class town, the low class people went to Zozo. Then crime went through the roof and the thugs basically took over the town and named it Zozo.

Search google for "FF6: timeline" and you should turn up a chronology of events in the world Aeolus (that's the name somebody gave the FFVI world). Read it; there are several entries about Zozo, the most significant of which (I think) is 21 WB.

that timeline says kefka's surname is rowantha, but his real name is palazzo, and it says leos is sheridan when its really christophe. it wasnt bad reading for a fanfic, cuz thats all it really was, but i just had to mention that... the explanation of zozo was pretty good though, it was a different take on the towns history.

On a side note, GMH, you mentioned in another post of mine that I had started of my idea of starting an FF6 Timeline. That "History of Aeolus" is simply what they call a Worldbook in an FF RPG as the website fills in a few details itself. Many of the timeline entries on there are simply made up to make the game more detailed..

..The only details of Zozo the actual game gives is that it was a place where all the po' folks from Jidoor went to find a place to live.

Sorry to bash on that, but I remember you mentioned there was already an FF6 timeline, and from what I know that timeline isn't completely accurate to the game.

That's just intended as a theory. I don't agree with everything on there either, but I think of it as a creative possible explanation for the fate of Zozo. And it doesn't put the blame of the Zozo's condition on the fact that the poor people live there--it gives the alternative explanation that a thieves' guild was there already after the destruction of Zozo's previous society.

Yes, I noticed the name errors. I know that this page is inaccurate, but I just mean it to be a suggestion. After all, aren't all these Zozo theories theories themselves anyways?

I personally was surprised at Zozo's appearance and condition when I first got there, but I just took it for granted. That's one of the few weird things in RPGs that I haven't yet come up with my own believable theory about how it happened.

that timeline is just another fanfiction, and has it's inconsistencies. fanfictions are a fun way to probe deeper into questions that the game never revealed, but are all speculation and fancy.

here is what i believe:
Zozo once a peacful town was eventuall turned evil through flow of gangsters and such. and it eventually fell int chaos
now it is what it is
but dadaluma, probably was the toughest gangster, or was hired by ramuh for a test, the wildest history could be behind dadaluma, but for certain he was there to kill you, most likely he was an assassin sent to kill you by an anonymous jerk in zozo, or on a not-so longshot maybe even Kefka

I just figured he was some punk that likes to beat people up for any reason. The fact that you wanted to go past him when he was just chillin' gave him a reason to fight you. It could be as simple as that.

So if its a town that was taken over by thugs, why are so many citizens marching up the stairs for no reason?

Actually they're thugs too, which is why they lie and use the thug sprite I'm not sure what they're doing. I just remember the one guy that says something like "phew, how long do we have to keep on doing this?". I don't think any of them mention what they are doing. They all go to the counter with the guy behind it for some reason.
