Square Enix has announced through V-Jump magazine that a Dragon Quest V remake is in progress.
The remake of the 1992 Super Famicom title will be for the Playstation 2. The original was one of the Dragon Quest titles that did not see North American shores as a Dragon Warrior title. It is unclear whether the remake will either. The graphics will be upgraded, but it is not believe they will be even up to par with the PS1 Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior VII. Games_Are_Fun has a magazine scan that shows a few scenes from the game. Source: Games_Are_Fun /****/ I have only played Dragon Warrior 1. It was probably seven or eight years ago now, but I think I recall enjoying it. So I'll definitely be interested in this if it is reasonably priced. I don't mind some of these remakes as long as they are reasonably priced and the companies are still trying to make other new, innovative titles at the same time that they are working on these. -------------------- "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle |

Yes, Dragon Quest V. And the Tiddles part?

Played the translated rom of DQ5, almost beat it. Good game, however they didn't seem incredibly good with graphics at the time. Game gives me a migraine uber bad if I play too long.

What an ingenious headline!
Speaking of Tiddles, he'll be proud to know that I spent this evening watching Bend it Like Beckham, and that I think the English chick main character in that movie is brilliant. I've always meant to play the Dragon Warrior series; however, I remain PS2less, even though there's so many titles on that console I'd love to play. -Phoenix |

It could be very good. I've been a loyal DQ/DW fan since the NES. I just wish they would upadate that command window, it hasn't really been udated since the NES. That's pretty bad.

Only seven or eight years, Cloud? DW was my first ever RPG, played it at seven years old. For you children out there, that means almost seventeen years ago.
![]() However, I never played a DW since. I should find the ROMs for the NES ones. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

So, people like me might just be able to wind up playign the old gems that they missed due to the lack of RPG's being popular in the UK until 97. so its good news for everyone then. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |
