This might sound dumb but I realized something while playing Metal Gear Solid 2. When in the end it starts talking about memory and I thought about it a lot. The game asked the question how will you be remembered. When I thought about that question I realized that mostly all people will be forgotten with enough time and that to remebered you would have to something so great that millions would notice. For example being president or even inventing such an item as the light bulb. I don't know if other people think about this, but its a topic that often bothers me.

My greatest fear is to be forgotten.
I've had many of these. Someone will say something and I won't be able to understand it, or get what the meaning is behind it, but then I'll be sitting at home just thinking or something and it just comes to me. A lot of the time, these are bad revelations of things I overlooked, or was oblivious too. So there's not much to share on my part. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

I have a few of those. I realized once, that if you take out someone's fear of dying, you'd take out their fears of anything else with it. The only reason people are generally scared of something is because of a base fear of death and the unknown. Remove that, and you remove fear.
Usually I get hit by such ideas around 2 in the morning. I guess it's cuz I let my mind wander a lot around that time. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

My moment came after I did pretty bad on my first college exam after a night on the town. I sat there thinking that I was going to be a failure and started drinking heavy. Then after finishing a case I realized that it was just one test and that all I had to do was know when to party and when to do work. Also I realized that in college you didn't have to memormize all the info just what the professor puts on test. The most important thing I realized was college was not about what you know but how you can bullsh!$. Three years later I am an honor student and haven't given up on my favorite habit of drinking.

I've had a few of these... oddly enough one of them wqas realising why it was they called it "squared" (math reference), but that was a long time ago
![]() That was about a year and a half ago, when it hit me I had that horribly scared feeling, you know the one, where your chest feels like it's on fire, yea, I had that for 2 wqeeks straight... and after that it kept flaring up from time to time... it was the most horrifying feeling I've ever experianced... However, as of a year ago, I met the girl of my dreams, and since then... well, it hasn't been so bad... it doesn't make sense, cause I'm still onna die eventually, and sadly I'll most likely be forgotten... but like I said, it doesn't hurt quite so much anymore... I dunno how much sense that makes, but, well, that's my 2 cents -------------------- Club Sandwiches. Not Seals. |

Mine always come when I'm out running (you know, us computer guys have to stay in shape too) on the track. After a long day at the office staring at computer code all day I like to go out and run, especially when I'm running into a programming problem. The answers always come to me when I'm running.
---- The scientic reason behind this is that the brain gets more blood and oxygen when you are doing something physical. ----- In anycase, I always go back to work the next morning and it works. As for major life realizations, most of those come to me when I'm out by myself in the woods just listening to nature. I get really in peace with myself and answers to all the really hard and important questions come to me. -------------------- You tell me. |
