Okay, I KNOW I've been neglecting this board for "other friends" (all together now: "What other friends?"). But that was actually a favor towards you guys because you didn't have to put up with my whining over the last month or so. As you may or may not know, I'd applied to study abroad at a Japanese university (Kansai Gaidai), and yesterday I got confirmation that I've been accepted into the program. So from the end of January to the end of May I'll be livin' it up in Osaka :D Rejoice with me.

The school has a computer lab, so I'll be able to log on here and bother you all with my Adventures in Japan XD

Thanks! I'll definitely keep you guys up to date while I'm there (with Josh's permission of course). DP - things in Japan are expensive. I love you, but not that much XD But I'll tell you about new shows so you can check them out yourself.

Here are the courses I'm planning to take - Japanese spoken language (required), "Onna to Otoko: Gender and Sexuality in Japan" (which is sort of what I want to study), "Youth in Japanese Culture and Society", and "New Japanese Cinema 1995-2002". I'm thinking of focusing on portrayels of gender and sexuality within popular culture for my thesis, so maybe these courses will help? I can take one more course, so I'm kind of flubbing between "Death in East Asian Thought", "The Culture of Food and Eating in Japan", and "Problems in Modern Japanese Politics and History". All three courses are pretty self-explanatory. The food course sounds really fun (getting credit to EAT! YES!), but the others might be more academically enriching. Cause I'm a nerd. Any thoughts?

Actually, I study Japanese at the University (the first year) and when I've finished this year, I can make a request to continue my education in Japan! So I might also go to Japan later on (Ryuugakusei!). Too bad I can't meet you there (unless you stay longer than half a year of course).

People say I'm a slow learner, but I type fast!

Although I would almost always choose getting credit to eat over anything, I personally have never had much of an affinity for Japanese food (when I went to Japan, I lived almost exclusively off of white rice.) I would go with the East Asian thought class, that sounds really interesting.
