okay, i played final fantasy 6 after i've finished (in this order):
1) star control 2 2) phantasy star 4 3) light crusader (i don't remember any others) i personally felt that the game's level was medium and not easy, i barely used walkthroughs, only to find phoenix cave, doom gaze, and the whole locks in narshe/ragnarok thingy which i barely used (i did not use ultima at all, maybe i did not get ragnarok, don't remember, too lazy to check). the only "cheap trick" i used was fixed dice + offering on setzer, and still i found the kefka battle kinda hard, it took me a few attempts to destroy the entire tower. i did not feel it was easy, maybe cause in comparison to Possible spoilers: highlight to view . anyone else agrees with me that kefka is not as easy as anyone think. (ofcourse in comparison to defeating the profound darkness using raja as the healer (PS4) Possible spoilers: highlight to view he's a piece of cake, but hey, i never managed to kill that ugly thingy) neo-exdeath -------------------- "FLAELI!!!" --- Rune Walsh |

Unless you don't use espers and some of the best equipment, then Kefka is cake. He's down in one round if you want.

I had trouble with Kefka too. He wasn't the hardest boss I've ever fought, but he's nowhere near the easiest. I don't remember the levels my party was at when I got to him--I want to say somewhere around their 60s, maybe a little lower; that might have had something to do with the difficulty level. I don't generally tend to obsessively level up in these games; I usually consider a final party level average of around 60 or 70 to be enough for me. It's a very rare occasion when I'll actually push for 99.
The fact that you had to fight your way up his Tower before you could actually fight Kefka himself also bumped the difficulty level up a notch. No chance for resting or anything between the fights; you just had to hope you had time to heal and use items in the middle of the battle, and that you didn't take too many attacks while you were doing it. |

I think it's appropriate to make FF4/FF6 difficult by not pushing for Level 99 with every character. Now, I alwaysmake sure to complete the sidequests and try and acquire the mandatory spells, but it makes the game fun when you have to use Strategy over Raw Power..
The first time I tried to take Kefka's Tower when I first played the game I believe most of my characters were anywhere from the Upper 30's to the Low 60's, depending on the actual character. I remember it was a -hctiB beating Kefka with my party having those levels and no awesome relics like an Economizer to help.. I can agree with you on that, but for those who think he's hard and have Levels topping 70 might be a little slow.. |

Well, it depends on how much you build up your characters. If you play a low-level game and don't gather the fanciest goodies, then it's a good challenge. But if you level up everyone to 99, use the "esper level up-bonuses", find stuff like "gem box" etc. etc. then it's soooo easy.

i kinda agree. if you know everything in this game then FF6 is simple, but if you miss lots of quests, no good espers, items, and skip dino forest, it will be between medium and hard; depends on how much you skip >_>

The fact that it's possible for a L50 Setzer to one-shot Final Kefka if you know what you're doing kind of kills off his personal difficulty level, but the battle in total isn't easy. The hard part is actually the Tower of Monsters right before him.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Level One - Enemies use strong physical and non-elemental attacks and upon defeat, they use Quake. Level Two - Enemies use powerful magic attacks of every element, plus various death effects and counters. Level Three - One enemy absorbs all magic and heals its side. The other continually drops Meteo and uses an instant death attack Safety Bit and Memento Ring can not block. It's a general rule that unless you know some cheap tricks or Ultima, the difficulty rises as the square of the enemies you must fight at once. Two of the same enemy are four times as hard as one, three are nine times, etc. Final Kefka is just one opponent, even though he does have some solid attacks. The Tower, being multiple monsters with powerful attacks and such, are a bit tougher. It would also help if Final Kefka's magic power stat wasn't 8, too. A "god of magic" should have a higher magic power, don't you think? -------------------- My soul is bound to the Mistress of the Afterlife, and my fealty is to her always. Especially considering I didn't even equip my gem box or offering or anything, and I still found the whole battle not extremely threatening at about level 50. I did enjoy it, however, because it lasted a long time, had variety, and did keep me on my toes. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

The first time I faced Kefka, a long long time ago, I was disappointed on how easy it was. Playing my first FF game I was all pumped up for it and ready for a battle that might take hours but instead it took less then 5 minutes. Nowadays I try to make it challenging by using my weakest characters and no magic to beat him. Despite the fact that he is a cake walk, FF6 is still my all time favorite FF game.

The final Kefka was rather easy compared to the rest of his obelisk. With characters levels 44-51, I had slight difficulty with the first tier, more difficulty with the second tier, and extreme difficulty (Pearl Wind+Merton+Meteor+Meteo) with the third tier, but only moderate difficulty with the luciferous clown himself.

Personally I found him to be very easy at the higher levels. But the tower, the statues, and the stages before him make him pretty formidable. I'd expect more, though. FF6 is probably the easiest RPG to gain levels in, it doesn't take too long to max out a lot of characters by pitting them by themselves against Tyranosaurs. Even at a level around 50 or 60, he's pretty easy. Again, his entourage slows you down quite a bit, but Kefka himself is not as hard as you would expect. Unblockable instant death spells, Fallen One followed by an instant physical attack, and even more hp could have made him a better boss. Anything! I enjoy a challenge!

I actually never found Kefka terribly difficult. Not to sound like a braggart, but I recall most of my characters being in the 30's aside from Sabin and Mog who were 46. I mean, a few well placed bum rushes take the whole tower kinda easily, especially if you have magic backup like life 3 from Mog. and then something like Black Belt and Offering on Cyan. The last character was just whoever was next up.

Kefka is not Easy but then he's not really difficult. Ofcourse if you do want a challenge select your weakest characters to be the first four and keep them there until you face Kefka then you'll notice the difference. Of course at lvl99 you won't.

I think it would be better if Kefka's health\strength\etc. depended on your level like Sephiroth's.

Never, EVER had a problem with Kefka in FFVI, or many other enemies for that matter. I think in my whole history of playing that game, the only battle I ever lost was against three Dark Force enemies in Kefka's Tower, when I went in with only three characters (one to each party) and they got lucky with Roulette.

not to brag, but i beat the game lv 60-70 and got really bored with beating it, so i live at the dinosaur forest, where i have 5 lvl 99s...but i want a full team of lvl 99s that would be cool
btw kefka is like the easiest boss ever, compared to chaos he is nothing. Chaos was such a b!tch to beat omg. I had to restart Final Fantasy I 15 times!!! This post has been edited by EdgarFigaro on 12th November 2003 00:17 |

well, after being able to defeat the entire game with just CES, i concluded that kefka was one the easiest bosses in video game history. also, i really didnt have that much trouble with him in the first place. Star Ocean 2 now, that game has a few bosses that feel impossible to beat. in fact, the first few times i beat that game, it was be almost COMPLETE luck! ex-death from ff4, tough. ewww-- REALLY tough.
