I thought it was a fairly decent game. It seemed like alot of its mechanics were stolen and enhanced by FFT. Comparing the two, which is unfair by the way, FFT completely outranks and outclasses BL, but it was an excellent game for the release time period, and compared to other strategy games for that system, such as Ogre Battle.

Great game, definitely. I loved the battle system, and I liked the variety of characters and individual development they undergo over the course of the story.

I recently downloaded a ROM from EdgeEMU which is the Japanese Release Only Square Game known as "Bahamut Dragoon."
I hear a lot about this game in the past, but had never seen it until now and so far it looks great. Anyone else played this, and if so what are your opinions? |

If it is Bahamut Lagoon, then yes, I have played it. It is a very original strategy RPG, with a wonderful story, and I have no idea why it didn't leave Japan.
parkspapercut: Bahamut is the centerpiece of the story. If the game is actually Bahamut Dragoon, then I've never heard of it. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

From the little bit that I've played, it's really kinda fun. It's a strategy game, but battles play out like Final Fantasy. It's hard to describe, especially by me, but give it a try. You may like it.

Quote (tenshi/akuma @ 2nd October 2003 19:01) From the little bit that I've played, it's really kinda fun. It's a strategy game, but battles play out like Final Fantasy. It's hard to describe, especially by me, but give it a try. You may like it. (Given that this is Lagoon, rather than Dragoon) Battle system explanation: It's a strategy game, like FFT, but instead of moving single characters around the battle field, you move 4-member squadrons, and instead of being real-time based, battlefield movements are turn based. Their skills and strength of skills is based on a dragon who accompanies them. The dragon moves accross the field in coordination with the squadron, but also seperate from them. When you meet an enemy squadron you can attack it indirectly or directly. Direct conflict is when you go into battle with them. It's Party-turn (no ATB) based battle (like FFI-III), and each party gets one turn. Indirect conflict is when you attack the battlefield itself. Indirect attacks are less powerful than direct ones, and give you less experience, but give you more range and can strike more than one squadron at a time. It seems rather complicated, but you get used to it. Actually, it seems more complicated than it really is. Edit I knew there was another topic about this game This post has been edited by Dark Paladin on 2nd October 2003 23:16 -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Please forgive me for the mistake as of course I meant Bahamut Lagoon. I've still yet to play it in depth so I probably was thinking when I started the topic just wanted more info.
