My social media has been bursting with this news: The long-running Magic: The Gathering card game from Wizards of the Coast will be releasing a Final Fantasy expansion on June 13th, 2025. Many cards have already been teased, and the artwork looks fantastic. It'll cost a pretty penny, though: a booster box is going for US$198 on the US Amazon Store currently, and the Collector's box is a whopping $775. Additionally, all of the Commander Deck options are currently sold out at Amazon.
In other news, Square Enix is teaming up with TBS, the Japanese broadcasting company, to create a game based on a new IP. No word on what kind of game it might be, but it is confirmed to be for worldwide audiences. Source: Magic: The Gathering Website, Nintendo Life |

The commander sets cost me a pretty penny. I only bought Cloud and Terra, although I also purchased the starter decks which are for the standard MtG system. The boosters felt like too much of a gamble.

Yeah, this is definitely one of those topics that never made it over here from Discord - I've been loving the new art and silly mechanics of some of the cards (at least as they've been described to me, as I'm not an MTG player). I was thinking hard about getting my hands on some of the cards as decoration, as the Final Fantasy-themed wall in my office is looking a little bare, but at the prices, there's no point at all to me.
Whatever they could be doing with a Japanese broadcasting network, that one is just well beyond my brain at this point. ![]() -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |
