ick, i dont like him. he's too damn good. when you get a character that could easily destroy the rest of the party single-handedly, thats too good. therefore, i do not use the guy. anyone agree with me on this?

Ah, yes. I never noticed the connection before, but Cid is alot like Superman.
After all, they both wield powerful swords, they both are from another planet, they both are weak against certain types of rocks, both were knights under the enemy, both can fly. The list just goes on and on! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Moderator Edit Way to miss the point. -Tiddles Moderator Edit Or just flat out ignore it. -Neal Edit I was trying to make a point that strength alone is a really lame way to make a character comparison If you don't like him, don't get him. Or don't use him. This post has been edited by Dark Paladin on 18th November 2003 13:20 -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

He can be summed up into three words
He is invincible Cid is absolutely the most powerful character in the game. I thought it was funny that you got him before you got the Possible spoilers: highlight to view woman who could only break armor. I think her name is Maluda. -------------------- I will be the mustard of your doom! |

i think you missed the point there DP. i meant on how good they are. i dont deny the power he has, but uh, why have it? you already have agrias, beowulf(i dont use him either), and mustadio. do you really need ANOTHER god who apparently strayed from valhalla? no, i dont think so. long live the power of generic characters!

T.G. Cid is ridiculously overpowered, for sure. The rest of the game is an absolute joke once you get him, particularly once you've mastered all of the Holy Sword and Dark Sword techniques. (The former ensures that he can do obscene amounts of damage all around the field, and the latter ensures that he just can't die, thanks to the Dark Sword's cheaptastic HP draining abilities.) Not to mention that his default weapon is the Excalibur, a sword with hefty statistical bonuses and Auto-Haste.
Of course, I don't really mind his power; after all, if I don't want to use him, I just don't use him. His presence also makes some of the harder random battles a bit easier. My only real complaint about Orlandu is that he makes every other sword technique intensive character utterly obsolete, meaning that using either Agrias or Meliadoul is totally pointless from the moment he joins up. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Hey, spirit of wrath. If you equip him with the weapon guard skill and a feather mantel, he can dodge about everything. Regular magic, such as fire, ice, and bolt, has a 40 percent chance of hitting him. Death allready has low accuracy when you use it too. If you do this, he can't even be touched.

hAHahAHhaHAha lol... Personally i think he is an utterly useless character by thetime i get him any one of the other 15 members of my party can kick his ass they are all master chemists, knights , squires, archers, monks, priests, lancers, and ninja's he well he barely knows phoenix down let alone half of his abilities. I think he sucks and when i get him i dont not use him because he is toogood i dont use him because he is pathetic comapred to the rest of my party.

scient..half of your post is ONE sentence
ONE! could you please edit your post, OR SOMETHING so that i can read it? i think you were trying to say that he sucks and all your other characters are better. but you last sentece completely contradicts it stating that you dont use him because he's too good. metaphorically of course. btw, i shall do my interpretation of valhalla. it is the land(i guess the equivalent to heaven) of fallen warriors and the gods. it is stated in norse mythology, or religion if you will believe that. anywho, odin is the big kahuna there. under him are the likes of thor, frey, freya, bragi, and loki. now loki is evil and shows his true colors on Ragnarok when he betrays the Aesir and kills Odin. but thats besides the point. this is supposed to link Cid and Valhalla. Okay, here we go; he is a warrior and supremely strong. Also his name is T.G. Cid, which stands for THUNDER GOD . People in the world of FFT see him as so strong that he is called a "god". that line is pure speculation, but it does link him towards Valhalla. sorry, but i recieved a few pm's from people screaming at me because i supposedly didn't know what(or where) Valhalla is/was. ahem, hope that helps you people. ![]() This post has been edited by the n00binator on 18th November 2003 04:56 -------------------- once you can accept yourself, you will never be alone |

im amazed most people dont know what vahalla is. ok if he isnt linked to valhalla. where does that power come from even in the the world of fft that kind power is only gained if someone use a one of the holy stones.so is he connected to the positive power in one of the stones then if not vahalla.

Every Final Fantasy has a connection to mythology in one way or another. Some people don't notice it while others do. I think square enix puts a little mythology in their games to give them more of a mystical meaning

couldnt have said it any better myself edge. good job.
but for those who do not see the connection to mythology, let me point out a few choice terms. ODIN-king of the gods, etc. in norse mythology RAGNAROK-when the world ends, also the war between the Aesir and Vanir and the point at which Odin dies in norse mythology. EXCALIBER-hmmm--i think misspelled that, but no matter. this comes from English mythology along with king arthur(whose actual existance is debatable). LEVIATHAN-well, i wish i could remember where this was from. i do know what he's all about though. gaint sea serpent that destroys ships that cross his ocean. he kinda does it at a whim, so yeah. FENRIR-once again, spelling is iffy. in any case, she is the sister of loki and looks like a wolf. norse mythology. SHIVA-hindu mythology/theology. ruthless destroyer. kinda cool come to think of it, the FF games have ALOTTA norse mythology in them. haha, cool eh? i know there is more in there, but you know, im not playin it right now and those are the best i could do. -------------------- once you can accept yourself, you will never be alone |
