Naoki Yoshida wants next Final Fantasy to be more fantasy, no mecha
Short article (the title pretty much says it all) but I thought I'd share since it will probably make some folks around here happy. Personally, I loved the blend of real world and fantasy in FFXV, but I have no qualms about a pure fantasy Final Fantasy! I just hope the next game is already in the works. -------------------- Watch me play games on Twitch! Ha ha, I had this same post in my saved folder so I could read it and post it too when I got the chance. Having read it now, that seems like a bit of a thin statement, and if you read it really strictly, it would have ruled out Final Fantasy I, VI, and VII (to say nothing of games we don't cover around here).
![]() But really, though, I think it would be a nice idea to back off of the hyper-tech environments of XIII and XV, and I say that as someone who really, really likes both of those games/series. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

This does make me happy. I also hope they don't put their resources into too many things like they did with FFXV. Just one game, without all the spinoffs and side stuff, would be enough.

I suspect that even with a strict and simple fantasy setting, they'll surprise us with something beyond "generic medieval Europe", which is great. Here's hoping that's what happens. *crosses fingers*

He obviously knows what he is talking about. His work with FFXIV shows the passion and love he has for the series.
He didn't try to hijack the series like Heart Attack Man where heart attack man keeps taking his 'world' in and out of the final fantasy series claiming it is and then isn't apart of the series. The fact he conned people out of money with his kickstarter and his Quest team literally destroyed the Final Fantasy Team when he took over I got nothing good to say about him. And Zipperman who tried to push Lightening for a decade refusing to move on even after his version of Jar jar binks aka Lighting never took off. He should direct the main line series. Before Heart Attack Man completely divided the final fantasy community there used to be constant Final Fantasy fan sites with huge user bases with crowded forums but since he pushed, 'Van' and his 'world' these sites are now graveyards. Like Final Fantasy 12 or not you can't deny after Final Fantasy 12 all those fan sites died or are on life support. Square should have never bought the Quest studio. Even though FFT was a great game when Heart Attack Man took over the main series the damage hes done far out ways how good FFT was.
