I chose Beoulve with the drain ability, Orlandu and Agrias with the Lightning Stab ability, a lancer, and Ramza with Guts.

Dude, it hardly matters. Just use the characters you've been using most of the game, the final sequence of battles is a joke.

Use the party that got you there. For me, it was my custom characters, Ramza, and TG Cid.

Odd combo, but it served me well:
Dancer with Nija's vanish, Orlandu (but the last bad guy always nerfed him, regardless), Cloud with Time Magic (SLOW, but when hasted much better), Ramza as Ninja, Mustadio (His breaks will do NOTHING, but he can stay out of her/him/it's range), and Summoner with White Magic. The whole concept? Ramza will most likely get first turn. He charges ______. Orlandu will most likely be next, so he'll follow suite (if not within melee he'll lightning stab or hellrise punch). If Mustadio can go before ______ then he'll back WAY off and take a shot at the dancer, causing her Vanish ability to go off. Dancer will head in another out-of-the-way direction and do her thing. The Summoner will throw out the most powerful summon s/he has; or Mogri if the Ramza and Orlandu got hit hard. By now, Cloud's turn should be up. Cloud hastes, that's all. They continue with this strategy, adapting as needed. Cloud gets in and uses his limit breaks more than he swings, but if ______ seems to be too fast for him, Cloud will become cannon fodder. -------------------- The raddish desires my blood. No matter what, Orlandu is definatly a must in any battle. His abilities are simply to die for, and if you play the game without using the item duping glitch and without stealing his Excalibur from him, he's downright unstoppable, especially once properly leveled.
My party basically consisted of Orlandu, Ramza as a Ninja, A Lancer with Samurai abilities, An Archer with white magic and a Black Mage/Wizard with White Magic equipped as well. I'd consider replacing my Lancer with a Level 99 Agrias, to really induce a slaughter, but to be truthful, with Orlandu in your party, Agrias just doesn't cut it. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Furhter clarification:
Ramza Class: Ninja Abilities Primary: Throw Secondary: Guts Reaction: Hamedo Support: Magic Defense UP Misc: Move +2 Scarlet Class: Dancer Abilities Primary: Dance Secondary: Item Reaction: Sunken State Support: Two Hands Misc: Move +2 Mustadio Class: Archer Abilities Primary: Aim Secondary: Snipe Reaction: Sunken State Support: Concentrate Misc: Move +2 Casia Class: Summoner Abilities Primary: Summon Secondary: White Magic Reaction: Distribute Support: Magic Attack UP Misc: Teleport Thunder God Cid (Orlandu) Class: Knight Abilities Primary: Battle Skill Secondary: All swordskill Reaction: Hamedo Support: Magic Defense UP Misc: Move +1 Cloud Strife Class: Soldier Abilities Primary: Limit Secondary: Time Magic Reaction: Hamedo Support: Magic Defense UP Misc: Move +2 As you can see, I prefer speed overall. Hit _____ hard and fast, hoping not to be beaten too badly. Cloud can be exchanged for Agrias, as I've leveled her insanely high, just seeing her and Cid do the same thing over and over again is boring. -------------------- The raddish desires my blood. I used my Ramza set-up. With him and Alma, I included:
Agrias as a Holy Knight Ragnarok Venetia Sheild Chrystal Helm Light Robe Angel Ring with White Magic (mainly for Cure 3 and Holy) 'cuz her magic power is incredible, maybe overlooked concerning her Holy Sword abilities, Hamedo, works wonders against Altima, Attack Up, and Jump + 3 (concerning the battlefield, this ability isn't as bad as some may say). Beowulf as a Temple Knight and his Drain ability as previously mentioned, Orlandu: he is a big help against those annoying Ultima Demons A generic, physical attacker with two swords. Nothing matters as long as you use Orlandu, but I also like to use Ramza as a squire (with two swords) Mustadio(with blaze gun), a Knight (with two swords and some kind of movement boost), and sometimes Byblos(you gotta love him).

Thunder god CID definately, but if you have a priest with short charge on, you can nuke em with holy pretty fast. only problem is that priests usually have pretty low life and they will target your priest if they know you are gonna be hittin them with lots of damage from holy. so another way to go is to have a knight or ramza as squire with white magic secondary, equip exalibur and 108 gems (both strengthen holy

There is no "best" party. My personal favorite, though, can beat the game rather easily. It consists of:
Ramza, squire w/ two swords Mustadio, chemist Orlandu, knight w/ two swords Beowulf, knight w/ two swords Agrias, knight w/ two swords Yeah, I rely on tanks and physical fighting over magic based attacks. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

why the all knight each equipped with 2 excaliburs team and auto-potion
they never fail and if you don't want to go generic, applythe same to beowulf, ramza, and cid except 2 hands replaces two swords(and their unique jobs) and max out their brave then make reis a knight, 2 excaliburs white magic, increased brave 5th party member go nuts This post has been edited by Cloud_Strife510 on 7th October 2005 01:48 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I just use Ramza, Beowulf, and Orlandu. They all have Teleport and Hamedo and can do around 999 with one weapon. The others are just incase one of them gets killed. Actually, I just need to use two Chocobos and Agrias to kick Altima's butt.

The final battles, as have been said, are ridiculously easy..........it makes me sad that the bosses are immune to just about every status effect in the game (then you could really own Altima...look a frog!)

Actually, all the battles can be easy if you have powerful skills early in the game. EXAMPLE: If you can learn Bahamut early on in Chapter 1, the rest of the battles in the chapter and early in the second chapter are a piece of cake. Plus, sometimes if you set up your party a certain way, the enemies will just keep the same pattern as before.
