I can never stop getting annoyed with the names for Setzer's Slots! The booklet and the game say different names for the attacks. The booklet says three Diamonds are "Flash", but the game says "7 Flush" for it, which should be three 7:s if there would be any logic included. Now, I thought "Okay, they just switched the names for "Flash" and "7 Flush" by mistake". But then I find out that three 7:s are "Joker Doom", and not "Flash". I'm getting confused! Could anyone post the REAL names of all Setzer's attacks, since I haven't seen them all (getting three 7:s is IMPOSSIBLE!!!).

Oh, and another thing, what does the "W" mean in "W Wind"? A friend of mine made up the name "Waste Wind" for that spell, and me and my friends have been using that name since then. A pretty good name, I'd say, since it wastes away everyone's HP.

I think that the names were just accidentally switched in translation, but I can't be sure.

As for the magic, I'm sure it was meant to be Whirlwhind, given the visual aspect of the spell. But it's hard to say without having the original translation. They should have just left it "Weak," like in FF4. Silly name though it is.

Thanks for the "W Wind" answer Rangers51, but you got me wrong on the slots question.

What I meant was, what are the names in the game, not in the booklet. That page you showed me listed three diamonds as "Flash", while it is "7 Flush" in the game. What I wanted to know was all the names in the game, no matter if they are switched around or not. But thanks anyway.

3 Diamonds = 7-Flush
3 Chocobos = Chocobop
3 Airships = H-Bomb
3 BAR = whatever Esper's attack gets called up.
3 Dragons = Sun Flare (Bahamut)
7-7-BAR = Joker Doom
7-7-7 = Joker Doom

And I already explained how to rig Setzer's slots for Joker Doom elsewhere on the board....

I guess I've always interpreted "W Wind" as "West Wind", though I have absolutely no basis for telling anyone else to do the same.  ^_^  W in stuff like that usually denotes 'double' in Japanese, but that doesn't seem appropriate here.  I guess Josh's interpretation of "Whirlwind" sounds pretty good to me, too.

I always thought W. Wind was white wind, or is that something else? I can't remember.

in fact, "weak" and "w wind" are both called "tornado" in their respective japanese versions.

but yeah, i had always thought w wind was whirlwind myself (my cousin always said west wind too, beth).

White Wind has always been a healing spell.

In my version, the 3 Diamond attack is called "Flash" in-game. The 3 Chocobo attack is also called something other than "Chocobop", although I can't remember what it was. I think it's "Chocobo Rush". Everything else is the same, except I've never gotten 3 7s, 7-7-Bar, or 3 Dragons, so I can't say in those cases. ;)

Can you give me some clue as to what this version is, or PM me with an indication of where I can get it?  I've been hearing a lot about versions with different names/spellings lately, and I'm interested to see where it's coming from.

If it's just unofficial hacks on FF3us, then I'm not too bothered, but if someone's translated FF6j, I might give it a play through.  The only people I know of doing such a thing are RPGOne, with Sky Render, and their version isn't available yet.

For the forseeable future, however, CoN is only likely to cover FF3us spellings for FF6 (with the exception that we've expanded some obviously shortened names, e.g. Fenix Down -> Phoenix Down).

Actually, Sky Render's beta patches are still available here, from before he joined RPGOne.

Edit
Of course, seeing as how I've never played it, I have no idea what's in the patch.  Just trying to be helpful.
