Is Game Boy Player Start-Up Disc region-locked?

I am in possession of a GameCube with a Game Boy Player, but no Start-Up Disc for the GBP.
This is a U.S. model as far as I know. If I get a Japanese Start-Up Disc, will it cause problems for playing North-American GB/GBC cartridges, using a North-American GameCube? -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. This is a good question. Logic would lead me to think it would be region locked. Can you only find a Japanese disc online or something?
