Am I the only one person who actually thinks that Leo is the best character. This is what is so cool about Leo.

1. When you first get him his HP is higher than all of your other character's. This is in Thamasa.
2. He evaids almost every physical, and magical attack.
3. He has 4 swords, and 4 shields.
4. He has all the best equitment.
5. He has the best quotes.

Does anyone else like Leo?

1.Your characters are weak, level up. My HP wasnt far off if not higher.

2.His stats are boosted, its possible with every characters if you put on the right esper while you level up.

3.The shield he has change colors when he blocks different elements. He has the offring relic equipped, its the same sword, he just swings it four times.

4.He is a General, you do not send out a high classed soldier in rags.

5. None are memerable to me. Care to enlighten us?

Leo is excessively strong just to add to the tragedy of his death. That way everyone drools over him and thinks "man that really sucks, if he didn't die he would have joined my party!" If he was just a mediocre fighter, his death wouldn't have seemed so bad.

That battle is rigged in favor of Leo. The Kefka illusion he fights is at level 1 so that no damage is caused when Leo gets hit.

well, i enjoy leo to be sure. The game wouldn't be the same with out him. But the only leo qoute i can remember was acctualy by terra, in the WoR, when shes on the airship, shes says "gerneal leo, i think i finnaly understand what you were trying to say". in otherwords, hes no where near as cool as shadow.

I liked his character - he was a really charismatic, smart guy. He wasn't overly powerful though - Shock is nice I'm sure but I'd rather have him for his offering he has equipped *drool*. I'm sure Zed has the lowdown on his stats and junk and whether he would be really that good if he would have joined.

i always feel like im the only person in the world who hates leo. hes around for 5 minutes tops, and its 5 minutes of the game that i absolutely dread. hes just a (awful looking) regular character, they just gave him sweet equipment and he was at a higher level.

Yeah, Leo's nice, but any character can fight as good as him if you level them up properly and give them the right equipment. And Shock really isn't that powerful. I'd take Shadow throwing Imp Halberds over Leo doing Shock any day.

There is abstolutely no way to save Leo. I've tried all of these things.
1. Running away from Thamasa
2. Going into houses
3.Warping from the guardian battles
4. Loosing against Kefka
5. Maxing his stats out
6. Going to thamasa in WOR with Terra only
Why are the guardians so impossible to defeat? And does anyone have any other ideas on how to save Leo?

I liked leo becuase shock looked awesome. his sprite looks cool though, but his status portrait looks ugly. and he has the paladin shield equipped(I found that somhwer on the internet) so hes a normal guy, who deserves to die

Actually, he has the Aegis Shield equipped. If you go to Equip, then press <-- left when selecting characters, you can see what they all have equipped. Leo has the following equipment:

As you can see above Leo has better stats than all the other characters, so he would make a very good character on your team. More significant is his special attack which comes at no charge and is one of the top attacks in the game. This is taken from my rage attack evaluation:

Catscratch > Merton > Shock > Aero > Ice 3 > Fire 3 > Bolt 3 = Shrapnel > Giga Volt > Pearl > Water Edge > Meteo > Magnitude8 > Wind Slash > Elf Fire > Blaze > Ice 2 > Bolt 2 > Fire 2 > Bio

Shock hits all enemies and is unblockable. No other character special in the game is quite as good. So Leo would pretty much be a must in every FFVI player's party. Then again I'm sure Square would have nerfed him down quite a bit if he were to actually join your party. Like I said before, with Leo it's all about the wow factor.

Well to be honest i hated Leo. he was A goody Goody General that was drunk on his honor. I was Glad to see him get offed. I was like- YES kefka you Pwn!!! You can not save him, and im just fine with that.

Shock does not hit all enemies. I created a replacement boss for #24 in the magitek factory that uses Shock as a counterattack, and it hits only one person in my party. Of course, that could be specifically because it's a counterattack.

Shock usually targets all enemies as default. The attack isn't designed for enemy use which is why it only targets one person. In the battle script you would have to specify that all enemies are to be targeted. When Gau uses Shock it hits all enemies.

Leo, the Orlandu of FFVI. Except cheaper.
It's good to have characters that are very strong in one aspect, but having someone who excells in all aspects would make the game boring.

Leo was definitly pretty cool, and i too tried to save him...but he was nothing amazing as some seem to think, he was just like a cool general guy that the story line made u want him on ur side (also becuz of his power) and then kefka finishes him easily, to show how tough kefka really is

I always liked Leo, his personality reminded me a bit of Cyan. He had a number of likeable traits, and watching as he realized that Gestahl, whom he had served so loyally, had betrayed him was one of the saddest parts of the game. I also thought that the fact that he turned down the Magitek infusion was indicative of his character.

As for memorable quotes, I like that exchange he had with that soldier at the camp near Doma, something to the effect of "this is war but don't throw your life away."

Ideally, I would want Leo to join the party, since he does have rather high stats and powerful equipment and is one the best characters in the game. As for his appearance, his sprite is very well done; it's his menu pic that was based on Amano's sunburnt sketch.

But for plot reasons (which you'll know if you've played through it before) he doesn't join. Which makes making him all the more powerful a nice plot device. And yes, he is one of my favorite characters, embodying (like Cyan) honor and duty.

By the way, he seems like an especially powerful character because his level is determined by (your party's average level) + 5 .

The one thing about Leo that got me is as to why he ever worked for the Empire in the first place? It seems like the Empire was the opposite of what Leo stood for from the get-go.

I absolutely agree. His sprite was pretty cool. But least of all he was way too much to be a real character to join your team. I title him as undeveloped. I don't necessarily mean it in a bad way but yeah. I still like him in a way of plot... etc.
