I don't know how to do the highlight thingy but there is spoilers below.

 You know at the end of the game where Shadow stays behind.  Do you think he kills himself or do you think he escapes because to me starting anew (he dose say he wants to start over) could mean he wants to abandon his old life (you know Terra guys and Relm) and just escape by himself.  Or it could mean that facing his fears (says that to incidentily) could mean just facing death which scared so long ago with his pal ummmm forgot his name but you know the guy in his dreams.

And I personally think he escaped from the tower so he could cast aside the Shadow personality and begin again as the man he really is.

Well Dark Knight ummmm.  I don't want to spoild anything but when you beat the game you'll know what I am talking about.  I like to think he lives to but logiclly I think it is a 40-60 chance he lives or dies (favor on dies) because why would he leave his dog behind even if he wanted to change.

I hope he isn't dead, I don't think he is...

I really don't care if Shadow lived or died just as long as Inspector got out of there, everytime I watch the end when the airship flys by and you can see everyone I try to find Inspector, but he's not there...where is he?

What I never knew Inspector Gadget was in the game.  Well there was those two empty character slots that just never seem to fill up.  Hmmmmm that means the other secrect character must have been ahhhhhhh.  Forgot the dogs name.  Sorry missed a mediocre punch line.

Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN?

Judging from the tone of his final lines, I'd say that Shadow survived.  One could argue that "Baram, I am going to stop running" implies that he's finally going to stop running from Death, since "the Reaper is always a step behind" him.  However, I've always believed that he escapes the collapsing tower apart from his comrades, to cast aside his cold-blooded Shadow persona and live out his life as Clyde Arrowny.  In a way I suppose you could call it a "death," with its subsequent "rebirth" as well.

I am still not sure but doing that (super moogle) would also coincide with the Archetypal Journey.  Since one of the steps to defeating your own fisher king is death/rebirth.  But still why would he leave his dog behind thats the only thing for me that makes me think he dies in the tower.

I always thought he died.  He told Interceptor to run, which gave me the impression that Shadow had no intention of following.  He stopped and ran to a corner in the tower, while it was collapsing, and spoke about about not running anymore from who he is.  I think he's come to terms with himself and accepted his existence when his final moments approached.  

To me, Shadow was a character that lost his personality, and his true self, when he left Baram.  He was only a fraction of what he used to be, and his name aptly describes him, being a "shadow" of sorts, of his former self.  However, I think the final moments in the tower made him realize that he should've stayed with Baram no matter the consequences, and that he will finally be with his friend again (assuming Baram died).  I think he is finally ready to accept his fate, which is death and the reunion of Clyde and Baram.

This'll debate will never end.  So allow me to further it.

He probably lives.  He's a ninja, ninjas are masters of escape and silent killing and stuff.  Shadow's one of those survivior types.  He must have a grappling hook or other climbing device to get down the tower.  Besides, he sent Interceptor away, why would a non-ninja Clyde need a vicious attack dog?  To get his paper?  I think not.

And about Evil Eye's Death wish theory.  I think traveling and beating up bad guys with Relm and all the others gave him a little revelation on life, just like everyone else had a revelation over something.

true true, thanks for the quotes from shadow guys! anyway. I dont know what to think really, I used to think he died and has gone on and is with Baram, but also now i think that he couldve survived, i mean hes found his daughter, and if he was to become clyde again, he didnt want Interceptor for a while, he was in a sence telling him to go with relm...causa, well yeh, obvious reasons. So he wanted to return to relm as his olde true self, and surprise Interceptor... ya know? so yeh! that's my theory!!!

I could see either way.  If he died, that would be kinda lame.  I don't know.  I could see him having sent Interceptor off to take care of Relm, like someone else said, or I could see him sending his dog away because he didn't want the dog to die.  I'm not really sure what we're supposed to infer, either.

Well, maybe he tried to fake his death.  Kill the identity that is Shadow, thus allowing Clyde to come back to the world.  He's not Clark Kent/Superman, so he can't be both Shadow and Clyde.

Wait for Shadow!!    (3 secs, he arrives, jump, sseparated, meeet at arena, beat him, get gim permanently)

Jump!!  (Leave w/o Shadow , but can still meet at arena, but cant get him cause hes dead) or (leave, shadow gets off, but cant bear the fact that he was left behins, though he killed his emotions. So he continues without you, getting a new bounty and you dont get to see him again) think its #2.

I really believe he lives.
When you look at his life, it really is an initiatic journey : he loses his friend, throws himself in combat to meet death, then meets special people that begin to change his life.
When he comes to Thamasa, he discovers new people again, who he may be related to.
When you wait for him (that is when you show him he means something to you), he gets to live through the end of WoB, and then, he goes into combat again, until you find him one more time.
Finally, he helps save the world. I'd like to believe that after all that, he's finally forgived himself, and begin a new life of his own.
