I posted this on another FF forum and I decided to bring it over here seeing as the ppl at the other seem to prefer the new age Final Fantasies(7-10):

If you've played FFIV(or II in America) then you know how Cecil had to face himself, face his dark past in order to overcome it and transform into the essence of all that is holy and righteous, a Paladin. Of course this all happens at the innocent looking little shrine at the top of the deathtrap they call Mount Ordeals. Now my question is:

What would your challenge be if you were to enter that same shrine on Mt. Ordeals? What would your goal be and what would you have to go through to achieve it?

Just a scenario question for those that know what I'm talking about here.

It would be my pox marked past. Things like substance abuse and suicide, to name a few. Or the pain of loss of the people I love, all the damage and pain I brought to them in my younger days.

I'd have to face a more PHP-savvy version of myself and outcode him. :p

It would be a more decisive version of me that knew what he wanted to do with college and his future.

I'd probably just have to not hide behind a rock with my head buried in the sand knowing that there was some kind of trial ahead.

I'd have to fight someone who was better than me in strategy games and would speak in 1337 sp34k to try to scare me.  It'd be up to me to outsmart him and smash him and his ego!

But in the real world I'd have to agree with SSJ Cloud, since I'm so indecisive and torn between two completely different futures that I could take, and yet I may not like what either of them turns out to be.

I think my Mt. Ordeals would be Me... versus... the Muffin Man....

ok, so that's actually something else... seriously, I would deal with a music freak with equal music knowledge and identification skills as me and I'd have to defeat his ass via Name that Tune! (I'm such a moron :))

My mt. Ordeals would manifest me fighting my various alter ego, such as:
The shadow.
The beast.
The madman.
The tormented child
The professor
The pervert.

And let's try survivng them... >_>

I think I'd have to deal with some of my personal problems, like facing someone from my past or something.

That, or I'd have to face misogynist jerk, kick him in the balls, douse in kerosene, and light him on fire.    Come on, you know that's the answer you really wanted.  (www.spacefem.com)

Hmm either have to fight against the way I used to be, angry hateful and vengeful...or against sober self.

It would be me as a sarcastic ne'er-do-well with a big-ass bladed weapon vs. me as a mystic warrior who has absorbed the powers of the spirits Nulays and Raesh.

Either that, or I'd be stuck in a house full of nymphomaniacs, and if I was to take anyone up on their offer, I'd fail.  For me, that would be one hell of a test.

I'd have to talk to the guys I've liked more than friends, if I start to sound like a babbling idiot, I fail.

Dark Knight vs. Paladin, sort of.
It would be the older version of myself (I've been through so many major personality-alterations it's not even funny) that was this arrogant, selfish, hateful, violent (my redeeming qualities) person vs. the man I'm trying to be, the exact opposite of who I used to be. I've been on my Mt. Ordeals for years, perpetually swinging on this pendulum between the two. They both refuse to let the other show on the outside, and neither one is winning. It's either very frustrating trying to better yourself or very frustrating having MPD.
