met somebody who you know from a forum board. I mean like it would be so wierd because when I think of R51 I think of a wierd centipede like thing with swords. I mean when I think of most people that dosen't come to mind. You know what I'm saying like... another example Master Zed I mean Zozo just pops up in my head. I probably not gona meet anybody who goes in my life unless like you don't know it like think of this your girlfriend turns out to be the online person you have been flirting with for like a year. Holy shit that would be wierd. Or... like the person you hate turns out to be one of your best friends online. But now this post is tuning to dumb thanks to that retarted movie "youv'e got mail". So two questions What is the wierdest thing you can think of coming of meeting someone from a chat board and who here lives in Kauai. Because I feel like I am on this acursed rock all by myself.

I've met both R51 and Gerad. And I've met someone from the Something Awful forums, and two people from LiveJournal.

It'd be weird if the person you met thought you really weren't the same in real life, and didn't like you much. Probably be disappointing and confidence-shattering too.
Remember: think before you meet. Especially if your online persona has more integrity, intelligence and charisma than you can ever hope to exude in the real world. |

Yes, well, as weird as it might be for you, I don't think of it as a bad thing. I hope to someday meet Tiggles, Neal, R51, Elena99, and Sabin at least sometime.
And besides that, if it weren't for these forums, I wouldn't have met my boyfriend of over a year. So. :P "Edit" Why the heck were you watching as lame of a movie as You've got Mail? Yeah, and wouldn't it be weird if you wound up engaged to marry someone you met in a chatroom, and were going to move in with him on Friday? ^-^
(yes, that's happened to me, for you slower people) I do see what you mean, though, before you've actually gone out and met "internet people" it seems like an odd concept. These words are people? o.O -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

I actually had breakfast with the SomethingAwful member before I officially met him. He invited me upstairs to play Smash Brothers Melee (we're in the same dorm) and we both stopped and were like "IT'S YOU." And then someone set up us the bomb.

I never met anyone I spoke to online (and then, this is the only place I post, so...), but from what I see around me, it doesn't seem like a bad idea : my best friend met his girlfriend online, and they're doing great.
I would gladly meet other CoN members, but since I'm in France, I don't think that will happen anytime soon... |

I haven't met anyone who currently posts here, but I think it could be fun to hang out and stuff. I met someone who posted on the AOL FF3 MBs and actually dated him for a while... sadly, that did not work out as well as Elena's love affair.

Never met any memebers here (wrong side of the pond, or, in Mr. Thous case, wrong side of the Auld Alliance) but met an EO memebr in a Games Workshop...
pity i didnt know who he was! ![]() weirdest thing? i woudl say a fight beginning.. but considering that Eo is a wargamers site, it would be like saying 'hi' as long as it was models and minis fighting... so, its not that weird. but if i told it to a causal listener... -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

I've personally met one person from the CoN network. And it definitely wasn't that weird. We hung out in NYC for a couple hours and it was pretty cool. I have hopes of meeting other peeps from CoN.
As far as that goes, it's like Tiddles said, just be careful of how you make yourself out to be online.. because if you meet and you can't back it up, then... well.. yeah, you're pretty much screwed. ![]() -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

I've never met anyone from a message board, and if/when I do it would probably be wierd because I always put a face to people on message boards. If the person doesn't really look like that, I might be confused. I sometimes get confused easily though so maybe it wouldn't be that weird.

So dose anyone live in Kauai? I mean that is the real reason why I made this post is for that reason I mean the love stories and the stalker stories are quite entrancing and I couldn't help but read them over and over again but... without my answer I am left hungry for information.

I have also had one of the "IT'S YOU" experiences, though not with anyone from this,or any other english forum.I was talking to a some random person in the school library(you know, casual conversation. It makes friends) and he mentioned how he'd got really angry about some guy dissing him in a forum he visits regularly(won't post the name). When he mentioned the forum name I just stopped and stared at him for a few seconds. Then we both knew who we were. One would picture a conversation with a lot of explaining and laughing and such. However, this did not happen. We both had a hard time cleaning up our coffees, which had sprouted from our nostrils and at the same time, gagging to get the stuff out of our lungs. It was a...personable conversation.

I don't know what I'd do if I met someone from CoN, though I'm sure that if we'd get along fine. Doubtless I'll run into Denise and Rich someday at some random con in Baltimore, though I may or may not know it.

Yeah I met Neal. It was pretty nice - I gave him and his dad the grand tour of campus. Found out he's a closet axe murderer too, but hey, nobody's perfect. It was kinda weird at first but not really. Just because we were in a different setting than usual.

I've never met anyone in person that I originally met online, but I'm gonna add my two-cents' worth anyway! (haha, you thought you could get rid of me...) Sometimes it works out okay - as evidenced by all the happy stories on this board - and sometimes it doesn't, so be careful. This one guy I know on another forum "met" his "girlfriend" through a fanfic forum. He lives in Austrailia and she lives in Ohio. They communicate through telephone, which is practically like communicating online when you're that far away. Tell me that's not sketchy. And honestly if I could call this girl up myself I'd say, "Honey, your boyfriend if you can even call him that is kind of an ass. Aren't there people in your high school you can mingle with? And you'd save on phone bills."
Actually there is a girl using the web journal service I use who goes to my school. We've made plans to have dinner together, so okay I've ALMOST met someone from online. You can tell I'm using the CoN to avoid doing homework. -------------------- "Turd-cookies!...they're hot and soft, though..."
