Oh boy. I am a huge Pokemon fan and still play the games regularly.

My favorites are still Gold/Silver/Crystal. I think they are the best in the series. I did enjoy Black/White but thought Black 2/White 2 were terrible and I haven't gotten a chance to play the new games.

I discovered ROM hacking a while back and have played through several Pokemon ROM hacks. I've even gotten into it a little myself, but my PC is old and I have an old MAC laptop so there are a lot of compatibility issues that have prevented me from doing what I want, such as adding in new Pokemon to old games.

My favorite Pokemon are: Dunsparce, Shuckle, Smeargle, Snorunt/Glalie, Larvitar/Pupitar/Tyranitar and Umbreon. I'm a second gen kind of guy.

I thought X and Y were great, and I haven't gotten a chance to play the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, but they look really good.

I'm still a Gen. I guy, though I probably put more time into Silver, and Gen. II has the best end fight. I've just always loved the Gen. I Pokémon designs better, and there are so many epic moments in the originals, though I'd admit that Gold/Silver fix many of their flaws.

Yeah, I at first wasn't too keen on the Gen.II Pokemons, and in fact only got into them years after the games came out. In fact, I enjoyed Gen.III Pokemons more for a while.

But then I wanted to get a GBC again several years ago and could only find Pokemon Crystal version so I got it and without a Gameshark or anything, I decided to make due with what the game had to offer.

I caught a Dunsparce for the first time in Dark Cave and never looked back. Very powerful/under-appreciated little guy there if you know how to use it right, especially in the newer games with expanded move-sets. A Dunsparce with Yawn, Roost, Ancientpower and Return is one of the most reliable Pokemon you can have in your party.

And Smeargle is just so cool. It only learns Sketch, but that move can permanently copy any other move in the game, give or take a few (Chatot's Chatter, for example). If you have a Smeargle with Spore, Baton Pass, Cosmic Power and a 4th move of your liking, for me an Attack like Dragon Rage, Seismic Toss, etc...that always do a set amount of damage, you WILL kick ass.

Next, Shuckle. What an awesome Poke. It has a base Defense and Special Defense that is through the roof, but probably the lowest Attack and Speed stats of any basic Pokemon. But the beauty in Shuckle is Sandstorm. Since its Defense stats are so high, you rarely get 1-hit KO'ed, even with a weakness 2x damage attack, you can hit a foe with Sandstorm immediately. Then with Sweet Scent and Rollout, you can lower evasiveness to raise Rollout's hit% to 100% and go to town on an enemy. The fourth move is up to you, Toxic is great but Safeguard isn't bad either.

But so many of the Gen.II Pokemon had unique combination types, and allowed for indirect battle strategy not focused on strong attacks, but on status conditions, type advantages and quick switching in and out of battles. And I love the designs now more than the originals, even.

I love the Shuckle strategy. My favorite Pokémon were usually the ones that either had high defense naturally, or could be used for that. I had a Blastoise and Snorlax, both with very high defense. I never used that many status effects; of course, I always over-leveled.

Yeah, he's awesome. He's like a cooler version of Scyther.
