VI because of plot, music, story, and character background

FF II, for the original system, long, involving story and a good selection of charas.

Also, this should go in "General Squenix Gaming" rather than "FFVI"

Note not the day or month or time, but the year. This topic is ancient, and for that matter, regardless of whether it should be the predecessor of existing-and-possibly-active "best FF ever" topics, it has been superseded by them anyway.
