http://www.jasonfarrisawesome.com/wp-conte...endys-Smith.jpg I'm just doing this as an opinion, and the fact that the topic is a bit oddball. I found myself watching internet videos after finishing my midterms one night (the Spoony Experiment), and was unfortunate enough to get the dreaded double-ad. It was a Progressive ad, followed by a Wendy's ad. Unfortunately, my brain suddenly started comparing and contrasting the two women who pose as the faces of these respective companies. I'll give a brief background on the actresses who play these characters, and then explain why I find myself more drawn to Flo than I am the Wendy's lady. Let's start with the one that's been around longer, which would be Flo. she is portrayed by actress/comedienne Stephanie Courtney, a 44 year old cat-eyed woman with an affable smile and a quirky sense of humor. She is originally from Stony Point, New York and finds most of her work outside of being Flo as a member of the famous comedy troupe, the Groundlings. The Wendy's lady is Morgan Smith Goodwin, a 28 year old actress/model from Cullman, Alabama. This green-eyed, earthly beautiful young lady hasn't really starred in many things high profile. She's appeared in a couple of off-Broadway plays, but outside of the Wendy's gig, she's not had much experience. I hope, for her sake, this would be her breakthrough and maybe success will follow. I don't know either actress personally, so I'm not judging their portrayers, just the characters. I gave the background information, I guess, just in case you were curious. Anyway, I'm drawn to Flo more because she seems more approachable to me. Her excess makeup, desperately bubbly behavior, and her neuroses and delusions make her seem a bit more average. She seems to love her job, and sells it with her whole body and soul. She seems to have fun doing so, and is therefore more easily relatable. I'm turned away by the more attractive Wendy's girl for a couple of reasons. Despite the fact that she, in my mind, is more attractive than Flo, she doesn't even seem like the type that would eat at Wendy's. She's always on red carpets, riding in limos, or chatting it up with her white collar buddies, and exclaiming how so much better she is than the other person across the way because she has a sandwich in her hand that she never eats. While this isn't explicitly stated, it seems to come across to me that way. In essence, Flo is more average. With insecurities and worries just like I have, and while she loves her job, the goofy and bubbly Progressive employee worked her way into my heart. If you have differing opinions, feel free to express them. i think it might be fun. -------------------- "So, are you a fan of the Fett?" "Nah, I'm more of a Star Wars guy." |

Wait... Flo is not her real name???
![]() Anyway, I like Flo just because she is funny. She is also much more of a person than Wendy. She just goofs around and has fun. I could have sworn she was younger; she always seems so energetic and carefree. Honestly, I do not watch enough commercials to contribute much, but that is my opinion. |

Hmm, intriguing, a forum topic that even the wise and all-knowing Sage did not predict. FF6 versus CT? Cliché! Kefka versus Sephiroth? Passé!
Honestly, tho Flo is strangely seductive with her cat-like eyes and affordable car insurance, I think I would have a problem with both of them. Both are singularly-focused on selling their product. Most of our conversations would be like: Sage (me): "I think this crisis in Ukraine is unfortunate that external powers are using the country's internal strife as a political football. It's very short-sighted." Wendy's Girl: "This baconator cost me a quarter!" I can be as shallow as the next Sage, but that has limits! At least Flo sells her product with some pazazz! -------------------- |

I've made some pretty unflattering comments about both of them in the past, so I'll null my vote. Let's just say, they involved sex, but not the wholesome, happy, make-love kind, approved of by people everywhere.
Haha, whoops. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. Don't you be tarot-fied, It's just alot of nothing, so what can it mean? ~Frank Zappa Sins exist only for people who are on the Way or approaching the Way |

I'd like to be able to enjoy my non-specific fish sandwich without some condescending culinary elitist judging me, thankyouverymuch.
