Here's a top five Fave bad guy topic. They do not have to be the main villan, but they can if u want to. Here's mine.
5. Golbez (FF4). (I like the story line with this character, they only thing was he was kind of like Exdeath, you know, giant suit of armour and all that, or mabye it's the other way round, this game came out first...) 4. Sephiroth (FF7) (I kinda like this guy, i know there's some people who say he's the best villian, but i say otherwise) 3.Queen Zeal (CT) (A queen who i think is completely mad, and turns into a pair of hands and a floating head for some reason) 2.Dhoulmagus (DQ8) (I never said it had to be just FF bad guys. I like this guy alot. Such a pity, a pity pity, that he didn't reach the top spot.) 1. It's all too obvious. I don't really need to say his name, but yes, it's the almighty KEFKA!!! (FF6) (The craziest and most AWESOME and most funny bad guy in the history of Squenix.) Pleas excus me fr speling mistakes, im very tired -------------------- Excuse me? Would you mind not talking while I'm interupting? |

OK, fine. I'm a sucker for lists; it's true.
Honorable mention: Delita - Final Fantasy Tactics. Delita isn't exactly a villain, but he manages to play every side in such a way that he emerges as the hero of the War of the Lions while Ramza did all the dirty work, stopping the Shrine Knights from reviving kingdom-destroying god-beasts. Delita's an awesome, game-influencing NPC, but probably not a villain. He would be in the #1 or #2 spot if it weren't for me caring about semantics. 5. Ghaleon - Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue. Probably the most obvious "this guy is going to turn evil" situation in RPG history. Ghaleon betrays his old comrades and pulls off some seriously evil **** in his quest for power, but redeems himself somewhat in the sequel. Lunar 1 and 2 is a really satisfying arc when you play them in succession. 4. Psaro (aka Saro) - Dragon Quest IV. One of the first cases in RPG history where we see a villain as multidimensional character. Psaro starts out as a rumor in the colosseum, but eventually reveals himself to be a powerful humanoid fiend who descended into madness due to the deception of some of his allies. Tragic. It's pretty awesome when Psaro joins your party in the DS remake of DQ/W IV. 3. Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII. The worse elements of the FF VII fanbase has made me sour somewhat on Sephiroth over the years, but his Jaws-like mysteriousness in the early goings of FF VII and the stylish manner he wields his unnecessarily large sword are pretty cool indeed. Also, he basically went mad from a crisis of identity and abandonment issues rather than just lusting for power. That's pretty cool. 2. Eve - Parasite Eve. I might be overrating her a little bit, but this is the only time in a Square-Enix game where the villain was legitimately disturbing, terrifying, and unpredictable. Every cutscene in the first Parasite Eve is scary as hell. The fact that Eve is essentially a sentient, evil conciousness born from human cells mutating ordinary beings into abominations is, well, creepy. Look, Parasite Eve gave me nightmares when I was 15. Gimme a break. 1. Kefka - Final Fantasy VI. He's completely bat**** insane and succeeds in creating an apocalypse. Like, not even halfway through the story. By game's end you are so determined to rid the world of this hope-destroying jerk that watching a purple angel disintegrate in front of you is satisfying indeed. -------------------- |

1 Kuja Even though I feel like Kefka is the more powerful and deadly villain of the series, I can't help but adore Kuja. His We Will Rock You, Queen-ish theme, to his narcissistic and cold persona, to his tragic past that creates a source of empathy for him, despite what he's done. 2 Caius Again, another empathetic villain that due to certain unfortunate events he takes the role of villain. He could of been more threatening though however and sometimes he didn't even really feel like he was even bad, just a misunderstood " woobie destroyer of worlds " 3 Kefka No Square- Enix Villian list should be without this chaotic clown. Dangerous, creepy, amazing theme song and final boss music, it's no surprise that he's so loved by fans. 4 Paramecia I like this Emperor because I feel for his time, 25 years ago that he was a well- developed villain, again, for his time. Even though FF 2 didn't show much, it still showed that Paramecia was evil, threatening, dangerous, powerful and not to be crossed with. I mean he defeated God and Satan for crying out loud, and even used his death to come back even more powerful than before. And rather manipulative and cunning in Dissidia as well. 5 Queen Zeal This Queen was so cold and heartless towards her children and did anything for power and greed. She could of been more developed however as more time was spent on Magus and Lavos. But for a female Square- Enix villain she was pretty good. I don't think that Ultimecia was all that developed or likable for a baddie, and Dark Cloud has no character, and in Dissidia isn't all that memorable imo. 5. Queen Zeal
Possibly the first female Squenix villain. I am not honestly sure why I like her less than Exdeath; I tend to prefer male villains and female heroes, I have noticed, not because I think men are evil, but just because of my preferrance in villains. Still, she is definitely my favorite female villain from anything. She was not only the queen of Zeal, but also the queen of zeal, and the queen of drama. She was one of those villains that invoke no sympathy. No one is sorry to kill Queen Zeal. 4. Exdeath Not the most creative name, or the most complex character, but he makes a workable video game villain. His coldness was what I like. 3. Magus I know he is not technically the main villain, but you did not ask for main villains. It really looked like he was going to be the main villain, until you realize that he was not an antagonist at all. He was really a protagonist from the start, we just did not realize it. On the other hand, even after joining the heroes, he was never really a "good guy". He did not really do anything in particular that was unethical, but he never really stopped being evil. His darkness was the main reason I liked him. Not that he gave me "feels" or anything; I only found his character to be relatable and unique. He was also a bit of a drama queen, which I like. He must have picked it up from his mother. 2. Golbez Again, not a main villain. Golbez definitely falls into the category of a cold, intensely evil drama queen. It turns out, all along SPOILERS but I am sure you know what I am talking about. It was one of the few end-game plot twists that I actually liked (I found parts of the game to be overly dramatized and needlessly complicated, especially towards the end; but this was an exception). 1. Kefka Need I say more? With movies and TV shows I tend to prefer the aforementioned "cold, intensely evil drama queens" (Reo Vantika from Deep Space Nine is a good example); but in video games, Kefka is my template. When I first played that game, I first found Kefka just annoying; but as the game progressed, I began to feel an intense fear of him. When he appeared in the final battle, I was so scared. He looked so godlike, I wondered if I could actually defeat him. It was the only time I felt actual doubt that I could beat the game. I wrote that list in reverse, so I apologize for any lacking in organization. |

![]() #5 - Chaos This guy scared my mom, and to be honest, in Dissidia, he scares me. This guy is just evil as all crap, man! I mean, look at his face! Look at the horns, the evil yellow eyes! And his spells are no picnic. They're special, no other creature in the game has them, and they wreck you like a fat woman falling on a skinny girl. Chaos is a freak, he is. ![]() #4 - Ultimecia Ultimecia has got some serious problems with the SeeDs. She doesn't like them at all. They've clearly got on her bad side and she just can't have them continue to breathe like they've been doing. This woman is just bad news all round, and she doesn't mess when it comes to henchmen either. She's got a castle full of the worst superbosses you've ever fought, and she makes you fight them all to unlock your abilities. Because she's a...er...a sorceress, that's why. :/ She gets #4 for being really, really, creepy and kind of totally rude and unpleasant when you finally meet her. ![]() #3 - X-Death I like this guy. I don't care what anyone says, he's just the hammiest, most ridiculously named, and completely Disney villain that the series has ever seen, and his laugh 'FUWAHAHAHA' is repeated. So that means he has a signature laugh, not unlike Kefka. Unfortunate that we didn't get a sound effect in FF5 for his laugh. Did we? ![]() #2 - Golbez This guy gets #2 for his theme music, for the line "Farewell, Cecil," and for being my personal introduction to bad guys in video games, period. M. Bison has nothing on this cat when it comes to power. The first time you meet him, he not only tortures you by turning your bestie agin' ya, but then zaps your whole party with a wave of his hand and a loud laugh. That's power. I hear that name and I shudder. Golbez. Whoooohohohohoo...do it again!! :3 ![]() #1 - Kefka Palazzo. The sweet smell of success. This is the only villain ever to beat the heroes and succeed at destroying the world. This guy is the star villain of the series for one reason and one reason alone: you want to smack the living crap out of him by the end, and you get a pretty good shot, to one of the most, if not the most aggressive, shred-your-face prog rock organ solos ever played in the history of evil theme music. This puts Wurm from The Yes Album to real shame, it does. Kefka is such a merciless, completely irredeemable person that you just can't resist the urge to hit him every time Sabin gets into a fight with him at the Imperial Encampment. You get to hate Kefka. The other villains are always humanized either through NPC dialogue or somehow otherwise quantified as something good that went bad. Kefka gets "the process went wrong, and ... you know." They don't bother saying anything good about this guy cause there ain't nothing good about this guy! Kefka will always be the first Final Fantasy villain you'd ask God to smack when you got to Heaven and your dreams became possible. Thank you for reading. This time I tried not swearing. I hate lists, but I haven't made one in a while.
Oh yeah: There will be spoilers. So. Spoilers, and uh... spoilers. That constitutes a warning in my book. Also: Spooniest-- your images are broken. At least for me in Google chrome. I dislike order though, so in no particular order: Ozzy/Slash/Flea. I count them as one villain, since that's kind of the culmination of your relationship with them. Depending on who you ask, they're a bunch of condiments instead of a bunch of aging rockers, but I was raised on the latter. Ozzy, first of all, could stand alone, and really makes up a lot of the personality of the three. Somehow, he manages, without having the power to do anything offensive himself, to be an annoying foil to your plans for that middle chunk of the game. Even his descendant is a douche, and kind of ruins your day. Slash and Flea as his two best pawns are rather awesome in their own right, granted. For instance, the first time you meet Flea is pretty much the greatest. Slash is the most lackluster of the combo, but he still has his chuckle moments, and gives the best loot to boot. Lavos himself actually deserves a mention on this list, I think. The more I recall Squenix games of my past, the more I'm pretty sure he's the best final boss ever, and if I was numbering this thing, he'd be 1. Way back in the day I wrote an essay about why I thought Big Brother was the greatest villain in literature (a position, I'd have to reassess today, I'm sure), the point being, I can copy-paste a lot of the same descriptions of awesomeness to Lavos and thensome. His omnipresent looming shadow reaches across the entire game. And what does he do, really? You fight him once in the story, then once for real. That's it. And he's just sitting there the whole time-- waiting for you at 1999AD whenever you feel man enough to take him on. You can go there whenever. That whole game, you're a bunch of ants working to dismantle an inevitable fate, and the one time the giant wakes up he crushes you like the bugs you are. It's fantastic. He doesn't even have a personality. In fact, Lavos isn't even a He. Prolly not quite a She either, but that'd be more accurate. Lavos is just a space bug that ruins our day until the planet has it's pre-death DMT flashback as Crono and saves itself. But the game talks about dreams and the arbitrariness of reality (see: Enhasa). The funny thing is, if Chrono is the only X in the equation, the only thing missing from the original timeline, then who's to say the planet isn't just, as they say in the fireside conversation ingame, wondering how things could have been different... if only there had been a hero to drag the princess to see the science expo. In other words, Lavos might not even lose, and the salvation of the planet is all a dream before death. The CT team was called the Dream Team ![]() Of course, I do love Kefka. There's been so much so aptly said about him in this topic already, that I hardly need say a thing. I wish I could get out of the 2D era, but ugh, yeah, Golbez. Pretty great how all that business worked out with him. I still want to play the FFIV mod where you get him instead of Edge. If I hadn't blown my load of energy ranting about the metaphysical implications of CT, I'd probably go on a rant about the excellent duality that FFIV pulls off via the use of Golbez in conjunction with Cecil. For instance the way Cecil starts off as a Dark Knight of Baron, secretly controlled by Golbez, conscious of his evil, and desperate to change, but by the end Cecil is a Paladin, while Golbez, free from the control of a greater being now struggles, like his brother in the beginning, to tame the darkness he can never escape in his soul. The way it balances, etc, Palom and Porom acting as foreshadowing by way of example as a pair of siblings in harmony (childish clowning aside). But, I'm tired, so yeah, Golbez. Way to be not only evil, but also sympathetic. A tragic figure, and great villain. Gilagmesh! Holy crap, I almost forgot this guy! Not only is he said to be the only guy who's the same in every game, but come on, he's got so many arms he can't fail to be cool. For his battle music alone he could be on this list, but yeah, also for being one of the most endearing characters in FFV, which I maintain had a rather bland cast. That's five, right? Sure. That's my list then -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. Don't you be tarot-fied, It's just alot of nothing, so what can it mean? ~Frank Zappa Sins exist only for people who are on the Way or approaching the Way |
